Also experimentation needs to be fixed ASAP. When its successful it can actually lower stat increaseamountor duration and sometimes when it fails, stat increase amount and duration go up. Also, I have Cooking 1; if my chance of success on experimentation is 50%, then I should be successful 50% of the time. Instead I am only successful 25% of the time. If I experiment on the same item 20 times. I only get 5 successes.

I highly disagree with your priority, and numbers 3 and 4.

Milk and eggs should be introduce, but should not be a priority. You don't lose a WHOLE LINE OF FOODS. Deserts still ahve many great foods that have really good buffs. There are other issues to worry abuot that are more important, such as balance INSIDE THE CHEF TREE.

As for 3. Factories are just fine putting out usages of 1. A factory is not there for grinding EXPERIENCE PONTS. It's there to create identical components that will have assured values based on a schematic. In an RP sense, it doesn't make sense that a machine would put as much care and heart into a food or drink as a chef would.

As for Homemaker vs. Chef. Chef COMPLETELY DOMINATES DOMESTIC ARTS DRINKS. Hands down. After just one level of cooking, yoru experimentation will make your foods and drinks better than anything in the domestic arts tree. At cooknig II and III, the results become even better.

My MAIN Suggestion to developers, fix the balance of the skill tree. things like skannbult likker and other drinks higher in the mix tree are really messed up. For example, Antakarian fire dancer calls for 20 ore, 20 gemstones and 2 identical alcohol for a +20 action for 80 seconds. What the **** is up with that. I canmake blob candy that produces better results. This drink shouldbe in novice chef, not Mixology III, and not requireing the resources it requires.

That's just one example, and this trend goes for many more drinks, deserts, and foods.

Ah, dang, as I was posting mine, you were posting yours!

---

1) I would not put milk and eggs as #1, I would put it as #5. This only effects a few recipies. If they implement milk and eggs tomorrow, the Chef profession will still be broken. It's something they need to address, but it's just not a priority. It doesn't gate us, and the recipies that contain milk and eggs do not produce anything terribly useful anyway.

2) It's important to note the real problem with factories:

We should be able to use a factory to create stacks of identical items that will (because they are identical) stack with each other. We need to be able to produce a stack of 100 Caf. This comes down to usability. Having 50 stacks of 2 is not practical, having 1 stack of 100 is.

5) I'm not sure I'd list this as a top 5 issue. I sell goods out of my own vendor anyway. Having"Food and Drink" be a major catagory on the Bazarre would be nice, but not, IMO, a priority. People will take the time to find our stuff if it's worth finding.

OK I read through your letter and many of the replies... And I agree and I think your letter would be fine to send for now... But be sure to never let that door close between you and the dev's.... As for the UXP problem... I don't think that should be a personal request and should be everyone is having that issue... As for your personal request I agree with what someone else suggested... Chef Hats... We want chef hats... and if they are made to a special quality they actually help increase your experimentation points

Ok, some thoughts:

1. I will make improving food, preferably by increasing the duration of the buffs, the #1 priority. After #1 I don't think the order really matters, they are all tied for second. But as others have pointed out, we can live (for now) without the recipes that include milk and eggs, but increasing the duration of buffs will benefit us all. Milk and Eggs will deffinitely be in the top 5, though, only because it is the most glaring, obvious, "what were you thinking?" mistake concerning the chef profession.

2. I disagree that the bazaar issue is a "nice to have" instead of a needed. I think it is needed and something that will improve things for the chef.I doagree that it can be moved down to #7 or #8 on the list. I am going toreplace it withbroken harvesters. I don't know much about this problem, however. Can somebody give me more details?

For number 3, be sure to mention that even selling to CH's aren't a steady business because most of them are perfectly capable for foraging for their own food to feed their pets. Only 1 in every 5 CH's I talk to say that foraging isn't good enough for their tamed creature.

Good point. I will mention that.

Felzorsbrotherwrote:

An even better personal request is to seriously ask the devs to make food/drink visible in your hands. I was dissapointed when you pointed that out in your intro, but then you didn't make a note of it in the actual report.

Wheeeeellll.....as I said in the intro, this is something I would really like to see but if I am limited to 5 issues and one personal request....I just think there are more important things to bring up. As you said, "Your job it to point out immediate problems with the Chef profession, not offer advice and suggestions for the future." I consider this a suggestion for the future. (And I do agree with you about not adding too much clutter...I tried to limit the suggestions to relating to the issues I was addressing. You are right, but it is so tempting. Sigh, where is the cut command again?)

Felzorsbrotherwrote:

Whoops, forget to add. If you can fit it in somewhere, try to mention that Tatooine Sunburn is greatly over-powered.

I will mention that when I talk about balancing between homemaker and chef.

Hoggle - I only want chef hats if my wookiee can wear one. That would be cool! The swedish wookiee! Bork growl bork bark bark bark!

Hmmmm, forgot about this one. If I was allowed to put down more than 5 it would deffinitely be in there. This one, however, is a problem with the artisans, the weaponsmiths, the armor makers and probably a few others. I think, actually, the artisan corespondent is going to bring this up (I have seen it mentioned enough times in the artisan thread.) I am suppose to write a weekly report on the top issues. If one of the other correspondents don't put it in, I will add it try to add it to next weeks report. As J2xC mentioned, the chef vs. homemaker problem is also a problem with other professions, but I feel that it is one of our biggest problems and, since it is a balancing issue vs. a bug, it could be harder and take longer to fix.

Grrrr, really wish I could add that one in there, but don't see it being in the top 5. If I am out voted, however, I will try to get it in there.

I could be wrong, but I think you are outvoted here. It is not my issue because I haven't gotten a factory yet, but I have seen it mentioned a bunch on the boards. What do other people think? Is fixing factories a top priority? Majority rules.

I know there is a bunch of other stuff, but I got a real job that is calling. I will be back later.

Once again this is just an example of some other stuff in the game

PLEASE DO NOT NERF SMUGGLERS!

Suggested quick fix : 4X the duration and buff size.

#2 Factories. Making items from factories cost 2-8X as much as doing it by hand. If I make X by hand with Y ingedients I get Z number of charges/doses/bites. If I make X in a factory with Y ingedients I get 1 charge/dose/bite. This makes factories only good for making sub ingredients (soypro, protato, alcohol, kylessian fruit distillate)

Suggested fix: eliminate the crates have output come out in normal stacks (the correct amount) and allow identical food to be stacked in groups up to 25

#3 Harvesters. The med and large flora harvesters can not be made. This is a Chef problem because I think we are the only class that really cares.

#4 Missing ingredients (ie the great milk quest). Add in the missing items, or change the schematics to use something else.

#5 Stacking You can not stack or split food. I understand that each food stack is a unique item and that works aginst stacking, but factory food is not. Allow us to split hand made stacks, and to stack factory food.

I think the exp rate for Chef is very slow compared to other classes ...but not unreasonable compared with other MMORPG games.

Overall I like the class......just needs a little tweaking.

My 2 creds

"I am going toreplace it withbroken harvesters. I don't know much about this problem, however. Can somebody give me more details?"

Architects are unable to load the schematic for medium and large flora harvesters. So, we only have the option at this time of using the small flora harvesters.

My 2 main concerns right now are fixing the Chef Buffs, which has already been mentioned repeatedly and fixing the factories.

Thanks!

Outstanding report SirVimes.

I know that I have tested UXP with my hand-crafted (non-factory) chef foods by giving them to a friend. I am mainly a Tailor, and will pursue chef more when I master my primary profession. This gave me days of not crafting any foods and watching my xp, while my friend was out gathering meat/hides and using the food that I had given him. I did not see one single xp gain during the 3-4 days that I took away from crafting food.

On duration of buffs, I feel like they definitely need to be increased, along with the possibility of making them instant. If I am going to use a food/drink buff to sample for example, I would have to drink/eat something that lasts 10 minutes, then wait 2 minutes for my HAM to reach the full potential of the buff. By that time, I only get use out of the buffs for 8 minutes, which is much shorter than the normal sampling time before you have to take your first /sit break to recover.

I think that one of the reasons that people don't feel milk and eggs are a priority is that we don't know what any of the buffs do. What if we have another tattoine sunburn hiding in there? I'd certainly want milk and eggs then.

I myself have a Food factory and when my server is up and running right now I use it to do nothing but skill up because I know I get no UXP from the things I make in it. If I got to sell those things then I'd buy another factory and pump out tattoine sunburns all day. Also, if I load a schematic that make something that has 5 uses, then by god I want a 5 use item when I get it out of the crate.

Anyways, I agree with the rest of what you have. Good work!

Oh, and I highly agree that they need to move food and drink to their own category on the bazaar. I think that by doing that it would actually let us make some cash a little easier. The main problem I think now is that no one thinks to look in the Misc part to buy food.

I wrote a long reply.. but it seems to be missing .

In short, I really wish buff times were longer, I wish identical foods stacked (like from factories), and bioengineered components are basically useless. And I

It probably bears mentioning that when you bring up Tatooine Sunburn that rather than reduce it's effects it would probably be better to move it up the tree and either move something else down or create a new drink to replace it. If you reduce it's effects we'll have a period of time where people are saying "Hey, this one's not as good as what you gave me the other day!". And while that will eventually abate, why create the problem to begin with?

Just a thought. Also wanted to mention what a great forum this is! I'm also a droid engineer and I went in there to see what their correspondant had to say. That place was chaos by comparison. Now I know that they just got a big nerf and I'm sure that had something to do with it but I'd like to think that the other chefs here have been very cool and understanding of the devs and I just wanted to givea quick props to how cool everyone here has been!
