After spending some time being at Entrees I: Basic Meals, I have come to another realization. The Chef profession isn't really all that bad. The problem I had with it was the loss of experimentation points and the general feeling that alot of what I could make was overshadowed by the stuff any Dom IV could make. Which is what I still hold be true. I don't understand why that is, but now it just doesn't bother me.
I guess my frustration was caused by high expectations and I was let down that there was very little motivation to continue down the Chef path (Tatooine Sunburn). But after reflecting on the issue while grinding Stewed Gwouch, I realized that this "let down" is just a reflection of real life. Kinda like graduating from college only to find the only job you can even get is retail or *shivers* customer service. But you manage to make your way out of it, somehow.
Thus my compliant turns from complete negativity to a constructive criticism of the profession structure: While enhancing realism by including the "get started years," it just doesn't feel like it belongs and might be better handled without it.
As I've heard from many *new* elite novi, "You would have thought they would have at least given us a bone." And that bone would be the carry-over of experimentation points. All I have to say is that after I hit Mixology II, I'm blazing straight up the Cooking branch. Grinding Macro, praise be to you!

I played DAOC for 18+months, I had a Legendary Armoursmith, Tailor and Spellcrafter (all on same account), and I can tell you that Chef isn't as much of a grind as Armoursmith in DAOC - and Weaponsmith/Fletcher were even worse.
I played DAOC ~18 hours a day initialy (yes I only sleep 4hrs a day, yes I dont work, yes I spend up to 20 hours a day at teh PC
- thats that answered before someone asks
) - and it took me a year to hit legendary (OK, partly because the final levels were added at a later date to the game), but it was a damned sight harder to hit LGM there - well, not harder, just a bigger grind.
At least in SWG we can use 4-5 crafting kits at a time to power through. Pre-nerf you could use a factory, now you can use practice mode.
You can go out & harvest the resources for free, or at worst pay 750cr/720power for a harvester and use those resources to craft, whereas in DAOC you had to buy the resources and generally /salvage or sell to NPC's for a loss.
I like the SWG crafting system, apart from the fixation the devs have with wearing out my index finger joints and my mouse button, and think it's not too badly balanced.
Oh - and a small tip someone told me JUST after Id hit master......
If you have a mouse with a programmable button - program it to Double Click - one click to add a resource instead of 2 O_o wish Id thought of that 10 boxes ago

Hmm with the double clinking button I am not sure it works. Either that or I need to increase the speed of my click
Oh I hope it does work...that would be a great improvement
Braqsus- Former LGM Armorsmith DAoC too
adn yea hthat grind would make you mental. But at least I could grind on that without looking at the screen LOL

its nice to see some people agree its not as bad as some say. I even think that with the identical components bug, the experimentation, potential energy, and duration bugs, and the factory bug fixed, our profession should be a good one. The first 4 seriously handicap our food quality, and the last one makes it very hard to mass produce like our profession would need us to.
