Thread: My latest note to the developers
I'm one of the lucky ones. My husband happens to be a BE. Does this mean I'll be getting enough additives? Are you insane? He is already starting to say there is no way he can even begin to make the additives. Too many things required. Too many things that are not easy to get. yada yada. All I can do is sit and let the dread come in that I have fought so long to keep out. Now not only do we not have good foods. We have not so good foods that cost an arm and a leg to make. And to top this off, to make these not so good foods/drinks we are still going to have to use our best supplies in order for them not to be utter trash. Good luck, Sir Vimes. We need a change and a reason to believe again.
Eladia Summerwind
this has been my concerns all along
they had alivieated them when they bumped up BoH and brandy and changed stomach decay to 30min
but they've proceeded to take away all they'd given and we are back to the drawing board with absolutely nothing worthwhile to show for it.
Looks like i'll be forced to drop chef when this patch comes after all.
As for dropping the resource requirements, I can harvest everything but the meat in 100k per day if need be. That meat is a problem. Although it is not as rare as you point out, it is rare enough that it can not be used as the standard save by the very rich. This really hurts the casual gamers as the power gamers will be using the best enhanced food no matter what. This may get their attention.
Another note on the meat requirement. There just isn't enough of a different between the heavy and the light additives to ever justify using a light instead of a heavy if a heavy can be used. The other harvester harvested resources go up, but not the meat, save maybe 10 here or there. The domestic meat is a problem, but since all 4 stats are tied together, you get the same buff anyways. Longer duration means you take less, ie quantity goes up. Longer duration means the 'time to digest':'duration of buff' ratio is change so you can stack buffs or have a continuous buff. Stacking buffs increases the effect of the buff, so again longer duration is good. The reason I point out duration is that so far it seems to have the biggest effect in the whole equation and therefore the best additive.
My recomindation is no meat for light additives. This answers the chefs call for the resource issue. It makes the light additive attractive over the heavy. It allows the additive to be used very commonly. You still need 2 extra factory runs and help form a BE to make it, so it is still a lot more difficult and challenging to produce over normal food, ie it is still balanced.

No common, No common.
When the info on the revamp first came out, a lot of chefs were complaining that they had to have a tailor/Master Artisan keep up with them in order to make something that is still no better than a small glass.
Now, suddenly everyone is thinking having a BE additive "More common" would be a good idea.
If we start having this attitude, the food WILL be balanced as if it had a light additive in it, and be useless otherwise.
Either that, or the light additives will be nerfed so that they are not worth the effort. Then Artisans who want additives will be out of luck.
Please, balance food as if there is no additives, and leave the additives as a bonus for those chefs who are willing to put in the extra effort (not easy).
