Thread: Overpriced?
make that " anywhere between once every second to once every 3 seconds"
At 60k per crate, I cant keep enough in stock.
Aye...as mentioned before its all about supply and demand...right now the demand outweighs supply by a large margin. We charge those prices for the same reason that car dealers charge 40k for the same car that cost 30k a few years ago, and 20k a few years before that...it's what the market will bear. Of course right now, especially in my state, cars aren't moving, so prices are dropping like a rock.
Some may say "how can you justify those prices?" Simple answer, paying maintenance onvendors, factories, harvesters, houses, buying shuttle tickets, buying transport tickets, purchasing resources from players and the bazaar, and of course our own upkeep for our characters takes money. Chefs generally do not have the combat side to get good payout missions, people do not group with chefs (unless they have a combat side), and frankly, a chef worth his salt doesn't have time to run missions.
When you sit down and look at it....selling food is no different than selling cars, computers, or houses. We sell a commodity useful to a specific segment of the playerbase (those who want to enjoy the game and get as much out of it as possible). Sure...someone can enjoy the game and never eat food or spice or wear armor...and that's their choice...but, in my experience, game players want every edge possible against opponents...we help fulfill a part of that.
Should there ever be a change in the volume of chefs in this game, you might see people more concerned about competition...as it is there are at least 3 food vendors within 1k of my Coronet location...all good people and none of us fighting over it...we know that the business is there and allow it to come to us...rather than step on each other. Heheh I even had someone plant a house right in front of mine (stupid terrain wouldn't let me plant any closer to Coronet)...did I get all pissy about it...nope...I turned him into a customer...LOL
I can barely keep my fishak in stock. I don't see why people sale for only 1-2 CPU profit. That's an insult to me for how helpful my food/drinks are. Docs get about a 50-60 CPU profit on their enhance packs, we're the only ones who can make Master Dancer/Master Musician buffs that you can carry around in your pocket and pop at a second's notice(no waiting 5-8 minutes while you listen to them). Sure the duration is a fraction of the entertainer's buffs, but you pay for the convenience of not spending time negotiating with an entertainer if you are lucky enough to find one, also, you don't have to go find another when you're dead, you've got your buffs right there
.
Master Dancers/Musicians, Chefs, and Smugglers are the only classes that can buff the mind stats in the game. Dancers/Musicians buff for double for around 2-3 hours but are hard to find sometimes let alone getting them to buff you. Smugglers produce spices that are better than foods, but have a horrible down time effect at the end of them. Chefs are in the sweet spot. We can't buff as much, but we can do it at any time(provided your stomach has room)and without ill effect.
Sorry, this was gonna be a simple response, but it got out of hand ![]()

I'm a chef, I think its overpriced. You wanna look for something around 40k, be sure to check the quality, and uses as well.
While I am over 40K, I agree 95K seemsa bit overpriced. However as people have said, there are factors such as supply and demand and quality and such involved. Maybe he used expensive rare resources to make the best fishnak in your galaxy or maybe the last umpteen shifts sucked so he paid a pretty penny for good stuff. Maybe he's a jerk. maybe he doesn't like you...who knows the resons for the price, but you have to ask yourself...will you derive 95K worth of benefit from it? if not, don't buy. I personally cannot see 95K worth of benefit from it.
I dunno, with decent resources my stacks of Angerian come out to a base of 8 with no experimentation, thats included using aludium that was experimented on for quality. So chances are the resources are not that great to get a base of 5. I dont think I have ever created Angerian that had a base of 5.
I think we need to see the buff size also. I've seen fishaks with a stack size of 5 and only a buff of 480. My fishaks have a stack size of 12 to 14 and a buff size and buff well over 500.
I personally would shop around, there is gaurenteed to be another chef on the server who sells them you just have to find them, and compare the quality you are getting from that chef as well.

heh, on my server there were crates of fishak going for 120K. Of course, it was something like +700ish mind with about 10 uses or something like that. Also, each economy differs from server to server as some have said already. I know on my server it's next to impossible to get quality chef meat for good CPU prices because there is an Avian meat that is AWESOME for doctors to use right now and it's going for 50 CPU. Hard to get people to hunt the other stuff when it's that high :/.
THere has been a lot of fantastic meat spawning on Naritus also, its Meat hayday. Perhaps someone on your galaxy trade forums will get some for you, there has to be some lower level combats out there who will want the job, or I know a lot of people who jsut collect tons of meats from everythign they kill and have it sitting in there inventory. I was lucky and got 34k of carnivore meat just the other day. Now if only I can get that much domesticated Meat!
you are searching for arguments to justify your prices
but try to convince your customers because i'm master chef and i know the costs of my stuff.
i think it's a insult to sell a crate of angerian 50 /60k or higher. i don't want to see people say chefs are all thieves.
i earn a lot of money with my prices : for exemple yesterday i have sold for 200k of food
but if your goal is to reach 10000000000000000000000000000000000000 cr your prices are good.
if you think thats expensive, try the bloodfin server...
The current price there is 110k a crate. +575 mind +15 action.
yes thats right, +15 to action....
My fishak is about the same but i have -5 on action and goes for 80k
I will love to lower prices but the resources are extrem in Bloodfin.
its all about the resources, some idiots want to charge 15 cpu for wheat....
you ppl on crack???
Its also boring to run around a whole galaxy looking for good stuff with reasonable prices, that also contributes to the high price.
(so if you ever think stuff in your server is expensive, come to bloodfin)

I sell Fishak at 55k a crate, for right around +500 mind -x action. It sells quickly, and people love it. All be it, I doubt I'll be raising my prices anytime soon. ![]()
I just hope the next patch doesnt send things awry...
