Thread: State of the Chef Profession

Finally, we don’t have to be a popular profession and nor do we want to be. We like being a small, friendly community. While you should always be improving the profession (as you should with all professions), don’t worry about the fact we are the most uncommon or second most uncommon. We are not worried about it.

Unfortunately, this was not always the case. There was a time where chefs were very upset with the fact that doctors and smugglers could buff better than we can...which is why we are getting the revamp now.
If I make e.g. one Breath of Heaven, I need 6 subcombines of about 3 minutes each. The final combine is slightly shorter than 4 minutes. This makes approximatly 22 minutes just to produce one item. Over 9 hours to get a crate. It bears not much enjoyment to fill a factory with a maximum amount shematic and then literally wait 48 until your next action is needed.
I believe, food should be made faster, than houses, weapons and such products.
Actually, those are changing with the revamp. It is the complexity of the schematic that decides how long it takes in factories, and they are lowering the complexity (the word they used is significantly) in the revamp.

I agree with the points you listed, just want to add factory times to the future wishes, as I doubt those change with the revamp.
Let me just say that I started playing a chef...and I love it. Every chef I've met has been top-notch and willing to help. It's great that we can be competitive without being brutal about it. Heck, I'm only a novice chef and masters have given me advice, resources, and their time just because they were happy to see someone else in the profession that enjoys it and isn't doing it just to grind to a force slot.
I know I picked the right profession...
I agree with most of what has been posted above. I consider myself very lucky in that I have 3 active accounts, my boyfriend who has the same will also give up the odd lot here and there to host a factory for me when particularly nice resources pop and I want to go all out on harvesting them..
Lots are a huge issue for chefs, the number of resources and components that we produce (more so after the revamp) is insane. House limits arent really that high considering. Someone suggested a warehouse that worked similarly to a factory in that you couldnt enter... this would be a brilliant idea although Im not sure the game database could actually cope with us being able to store more stuff.... on Eclipse anyway, it seems to be struggling as it is.
The roleplaying aspect and fun side of chef is why I love this profession... enough to finally retire from tailoring which is what I have done since 2 months after the game went live. Id love to see more roleplaying items or maybe buildings in the game... Myself and another master chef on Eclipse were talking yesterday about how great it would be if there were more class specific buildsing... for example, chefs could have a bakery where we could display the foods (give how the new graphics look, it would be great to be able to show them off)
Other than that, it's a great post SirVimes
Kind Regards,
Tally, Master Chef of Eclipse
