Ahh interesting. I like the idea of the "printout" you mentioned. In addition to the recipe results, I could also make a print button that prints out the recipe on paper for future reference. As far as adding serial numbers for crates, I feel that it may confuse many life forms. Even though a recipe is the final result of this program, the goal is to select the best resources. Perhaps the paper printout would be a good place to jot down crate numbers, as the program itself will not keep a memory of what information youmay have entered yesterday.

PUBLISH

The first release of the now called, "Chef Resource Select-O-Matic" is published! You can interact with it here: http://www.treetrip.com/swg/.

Choose a food product. Choose emphasis points. Add resources, then click the "Find best resources" button. ULTRA points will be added to the entered resources. The resources with the most ULTRA points are in theory the best resources to use.

The product descriptions came from the Revamp Food chart located at http://home.comcast.net/~sciguyco/swg/FoodChart.htm

Please test this out and let me know what you think. Further functionality will later be added, like resorting the resources based on points. The math behind this program is demonstrated on the first post above.

I hope you enjoy!

You have spelled Corellian Ale, Correlian Ale; it should be the first.
Also, Gralynin Juice, should be Gralinyn Juice.

Wish it could load up the resources itself

If you calculate, then press reset, and tries to calculate the same thing right after, It simply does nothing.

Great work though.

ahh. thanks. I almost went the rout of loading resources automatically, but many many chefs enter resources that they have previously collected, and are no longer available for harvesting. I'm looking into options for adding that feature. It seems overly labor intensive at this point though. Gotta eat and play too. hehe.

No problem

I don't know how well your programming skills are, but if you could make this into a downloadable program, that could remember the resources you have entered (as the webpage cannot, at least not in Firefox), and maybe have a field for you to enter how much you got, I would use it all the time. It wouldn't even have to have that autoload feature then

That's a great idea TyfoE.
Anything is possible with my programming skills combined with tripple shot mocha.

Here is my current dream list of additions for this program. It will take some time:

-downloadable program with file saving features
-page print feature
-interaction with XML data from swgcraft.com
-complete recipe results including special product instructions, other required components, amount of resources required, etc.
-assurance that the math formulas I am using are truthfully effective.
-chef calculator modules including facory production estimates, costs, stats, etc.

I came across an interesting tool recently from the swgcraft forums:

http://www.swgcraft.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10693&page=1&pp=15

It doesn't do experimental percentages -> item stats, but it does do a whole lot. It's mainly a helper tool for resources. You set up the desired category "weightings" (how important Nutrition is to youvs. Flavor vs. Filling vs. Quantity), and it will recommend the best resource you have in stock for each resource slot. It will also remove units from your stock when you tell it you did a factory run, and also do cost calculations (although as far as I've been able to find, you can't enter in a markup to calculate final price).

It also downloads current resource list from swgcraft, and allows you to compare your current hoarded resources with the latest spawn, so you can see pretty easily whether anything is in shift better than what you have.

A couple problems as far as chef items are concerned: it doesn't seem to cover tissues (although it does handle additives). There's also a typo in the required resources for Correlian Ale that makes most of the functionality barf, you have to manually change "Correlia Berry Fruit" to "Correlian Berry Fruit" (note the ending 'n').

If nothing else, you might be able to...."borrow"....some pieces of it.

Thanks for the tip sciguyCO. As soon as I get Excel Installed on my computer, I will take a deeplook at it.

Today I'm frustrated about the non-XML connectivity usingswgcraft.com files. I feel I spent too much time inputting data, and was notsoaking in pure laziness. The next release will feature a button that when clicked, will retrieve and add resource data for comparison. The user will have the choice of simply adding current in-stock resources to the list, and/or add swgcraft.com data to be compared as well.
