I'm hoping to make master soon... one more box to go, just been so busy with the new job and the holidays, haven't played more than a few hours in the last few weeks. I'm playing to be a Chef, not a holocron chaser. (Incidently I leave my two holocrons in my house next to my vendor. Just to let people drool. LOL)

So please don't think that I or others like me are not REAL chefs just because we entered the profession because of a holo. A holoTKM can kick your ass just as bad as a non-holoTKM. Likewise, a holochef can be just as good as a non-holochef. True there are some who will grind, get the master title and move on to the next one, but not all are like that. So give us holochefs a break ... any of you who become holopistoleers won't get a bunch of flak from me.

And if you don't think that a holochef can be a REAL chef ... I challenge you to a cooking contest.

But you're not a holochef. A holochef is someone who doesn't enjoy the profession, and will whine and moan about the horror inflicted on him/her just because they want to play a jedi.

Whether you took Novice Chef because you wanted to from the beginning, fluked into it (random whim, to fill the need of a guild), or because a voice from a glowing cube/pyramid told you to, anyone who has fun with food and pride in their product is a real chef.

I'm in the same boat as squirrel, Holo told me chef, i hated the grind because of how long/how much resources it took, but then i started gathering stuff for the real stuff, started making real food once i hit master, and i enjoy it... it gives me a break from teh blow up the little critters for money....

i've actually re-worked my char so i can KEEP chef (at the expense of combant skills) and still move on to master the next holo profession.... i plan on keeping and using my main (chef, with a pistol!!! dont mess with me, dont mess with my kitchen, or i'll blow a hole in your stomach) even when i get jedi

Now we are just getting into labels, which I always hate. What makes a holochef and what isn't. Whatever.

There are two things which really irk me. The first is when people come in here and say, "The holocron told me to be a chef and it is the worst profession in the game! Nobody could possibly like this, blah blah blah." I just find that insulting. The other thing is when people start demanding we tell them stuff when it is obvious they did not even make the attempt to read the stickies I put up. I hate it when they come in and say "Tell us how to grind" when I have something up saying "the guide to the grind!" Bah to you!

Other than that...we are all just players. As long or as you make an attempt to be polite and all, or you are Nikii, then come on in, the water is fine...just the right temp to make stew.

I dunno about this real vs non-real thing, but I'd love to see someone match the foods I make without spending the last 6 months collecting and hoarding all the goodresources.

Not to mention all my contacts providing me with BE comps, dom meat, etc etc.

So yah, you might be able to make ONE item better than a "real" Chef, butgood luck keep a vendor/guild stocked witha nice variety of quality foodstuffs.

I'm a chef by choice. I only have 2 1/2 more boxes to master. I took my time with it though, I've been playing since a week after launch , always as a chef and am only now to this point. I guess I'm slow, lol. I did a lot of exploring rather than grinding the first few weeks of the game.

Im 2-0-2-2 and progress is slow (been a chef for 2-3 months i think?). I simply can't play the game enough to keep up with 'Real Chefs'. When I am on it tends to be at the same time as my friends so naturally enough I end up going hunting or something with them.

These days I just don't have enough play-time to race through all the grinding, harvesting, crafting, vendor-tending and advertising that I'd like to do (and need to do to make a 'proper go' of the profession). I ought to quit really and do something else but I like the idea of Chef, especially now theres some changes coming.

I'm a 'fake chef' thats all there is to it (especially compared to some of the real hard-working grafters on these boards).

Sorry!
