its an elite melee profession and I'll leave it at that...since I only have it to harvest meat, and to give me a better idea of what foods/drinks are useful...and if they are...how useful they are.

as for rifleman focus problems...you don't have to spam specials...try using strategy...

if you engage in faction PvE...obviously as a ranged combat profession you have the ability to kite your target...even using a vehicle....with a good set of armor and doctor buffs...not using your specials you should still be able to kill most of the storm troopers or rebel marines or whatever before they really get close to killing you.

armor and the like is only really required because you are technically fighting something you shouldn't be able to solo (the red con means you shouldn't be able to solo it...supposedly)...so if you can take out even one of those solo...be happy...if it kills you, its to be expected.

and why use PvP armor for PvE...thats whats killing you. carry 2 suits...or maybe try some ubese or low encum 50% composite...its all you need....

if you kill yourself faster than the npc/creature can kill you...time to get lighter armor. a good light encum composite set may have 300-400 mind encum (forget those silly layers, and stun protection...you don't need them).

True, nothing says I technically have to spam specials all day. I can kite melee mobs, even red cons, using auto fire till they die. I could get ligher armor, or just not wear it at all. I could run around unbuffed in PvP autofiring on people, while they with thier much lower/more reasonable HAM costs spammed thier special away on me.

Now I ask, why would I want to take 15-20 minutes to do one mission when with food buffs I could do 4 missions in the same time and make 4x the money. Why would I go into a PvP situation knowing that everybody else is going to pull out all the stops with a death wish. Use stratagy? I do, its called spend millions on food, buffs, armor, weapons, and skill tapes, and use all my resources and skills to its maximum potential.

Most importantly, you say nobody's dependant on you, I say I am, you say don't be dependant on me, use "stratagy". I am a huge fan of chefs, I am a good friend of one of the first chefs to hit master on Flurry. He showed me very early on what a difference you guys can make. I have no intentions of going back to the days when I didn't use food (mostly cause it was broken back then...). As far as stims go... I have no idea about them really, only looked for them once for a friend, everywhere was sold out so I guess they go fast, no medic so don't really care

Sorry, I'm a little off today.

I also forgot about the Reinforced fiberplast panels.

I disagree with forced dependacy (like the fiberplast panels, and the power cores)

But I love the idea of increased quality from interdependant Professions (Like BE enhanced food and clothing, and doctor made components in poisons and pet stims).

If they made those components lower level (or at least not master) then crafters could get a business boost before the can make the best stuf themselves.

I thought of this too and brought it up with the developers. But reading this thread...something occured to me. Do we really need it?

We have an advantage over all the other crafting prfessions except possibly smugglers, and that is our products are consumable at a much higher rate. When you buy armor, you intend to keep that armor around for a while, right? Same with clothing and weapons and houses and droids. Nothing else in the game is as consumable as food and spices. Ok, medication...but that has it's own disadvantages.

We sell at a much higher rate than anybody else. We have more repeat customers than anybody else. I think the other professions have these dependencies because they don't have that many repeat customers. They sell their items and that is it, the customer does not need to return for a while.

Having these other items to sell to other crafters help make up for this, to help keep them busy. Since we sell in bulk, we don't need this...and really, would we even have the time to create it if we did?

Let's see.. we're dependent on three other professions, one of them a master base class, one of them a master elite class. No other crafter class deals with the volume we do, no other crafter class is as dependent on non-harvester resources, and no other crafter class has as many cross-class dependencies or at the same level. And no other crafter class is dependent on us for anything.

Yep, real fair!

I dunno about that... I buy a lot of weapons and armor even as a casual hunter, and can use up a pistol faster than a crate of similarly-priced food. I know a lot of fighters that still buy weapons by the crate, too. The weaponsmith, armorsmiths, tailor, doctors, and architects in my own city have tons of business, and tons of repeat business. It's almost a little sadistic to burden the crafters who have the most *work* with additional punitive dependencies.

Of course the merchant in my city who makes the most money and has the most repeat business, is the resource guru, and he only needs five skillboxes to do that.

The point being made is : it's not a dependency.

Therefore nothing needs to be changed.
