guys, please chill! I want to hear everybody's opinion, even those I disagree with, but let's do this civilly.

Want to know what will really help? Make a list of your complaints. That is for everybody. Right now the complaints are all over the place amd mixed in with flames and other junk. If you really want your opinion be heard, make a list of what you don't like so I can go through it and take it to the developers.

Anyone have any info on milking? I logged onto the TC with a novice scout; I could not get 1 animal to let me milk it.. and I tried probably about 20 animals of several different types. It said it was spooked and wouldnt let me milk it. It was quite flusterating. I saw no skill mods to "milking" in the scouting profession so I assume that there is no bonus for going up theharvesting line. Even gungan kaadus (name implies domesticated/friendly to people) wouldnt let me milk them. Is it really this hard just to find an animal to let you milk it? If it is I hope it doesnt run out after 1 or 2 tries or milk will only be slightly easier to get than it was before this um change. (I refuse to call this.. change...a patch, fix, or getting love from the dev, at least for the time being. If anythingI wouldcome closer to calling it a partial nerf)

Ja-van, in order to milk a creature you have to be either mask scented (scent masked?) or camoflaged, so it sounds like milking is going to require at least Exploration II. Gungans Kaadu (figured I'd leave the typo in for humor value) may not be milkable. They drop avian meat, andI'm pretty sure the patch notes specified herbivore mammals. But from a screen shot I've seen, Ikopi are. I'm not sure on the quantity, or if you can milk the same creature more than once.

I am still not sure about how I feel about the new Chef changes.

I do like the idea of containers. I think the resources needed tweeking and the increased uses need to be bumped to be equal to the resources used.

I am only domestic 2 on my TC character and I do like the art on the new food. If any chef on test center can display the new food so we can see what it looks like that would be great.

I am really happy with the increased durations and the changes in buffs to skill buffs. (However I had people who wanted Ormachek, but I canpromise that no one will want to buy Defense vs. Dizzy)

All that being siad....

...I am going to miss a lot of those food schematics, like fire stew (I know I could just rename Chor-nar-hoola but it isn't the same) While I know that they tried to reduce the manufacture time on food by removing the high end alcohol components I will miss them, I loved the flavour text being a roleplayer at heart.

I know that not every one will understand but I think when they revamped chef they took out a lot more than a few schematics. That is not meant as an insult, I am a Roleplayer and that is 70% of the game for me and and in the revamp they seemed to have taken the heart of what I enjoyed about chef out and replaced it with cold hard numbers. All the food has it's own separate buff and there is little tono redundancy, so there seems to be no more choice.

All the new components for drinks don't really bother me too much but I agree that once barrels are available no one will want small glasses. Barrels should be hard to make but I think the resources are still a little high on them. For all those people who are complaining about the resource cost on barrels: lets say they up the stack multiplyer by 4 so multiply the cost by 4 as well so for 1000 barrelsof old school fishakwill net about 6.5 to 8 million credits depending on how much you charge. So I have no problem with the resource cost. The BE components are going to be a bit of a pain though any chef with 2 accounts will rule the market, to bad me and many of my fellow chefs can't afford 2 accounts.

Every thing has been changed and it doesn't really seem like chef anymore. They took out a lot of the little things like Wedding Cake that even though it had no buffs people still wanted it for Roleplaying purposes. I know the flavour text is still there and I might get back into it eventually.Hopefully the new art will inspire me. I feel like such a hippocrit cause I have been haning off these board ranting and raving just dying to see what this new patch had to offer and now it is here....and I don't know what to say. (I know I know, pretty big post for someone who has nothing to say I don't know if I like them or not yet is what I ment)

I am holding out judgement for the next week or so but it is starting to look like I am going to pull my vendors and just craft food in my leisure time for myself and some close friends. Maybe it is time for me to hang up my apron

And I have to say that as I was reading this board before I posted I am dissapointed to see all the squabbling and flaming. I won't mention any names and I don't care who started it but I am really sad to see the Chef board descending into thatkind of behaviour. Now many of you have appologised and I am happy to see civility returning to this great forum.

Keep up the great work SirVimes and is there a place where you or someone else can display the new food so some of us can stop by and take a look?

My main grumbles are:

Stomach full for an hour seems much too long.

Containers i like, but the effects don't seem to be in line with the resources and efforts needed to craft them.

Loss of fun roleplay / decorative foods, especially Wedding Cake (I was hoping they'd give it a proper wedding-cake-like graphic not do away with it altogether!). Of course if there is another dessert that looks the part then renaming will do the trick. Not being on TC I have no idea about this.

Loss of old favorite names: tattoine sunburn, fishak etc. I suppose though that it makes sense that these popular ones be reintroduced a bit later once folks have got used to the food changes- to avoid confusion mainly.

Overall I like the way it's looking. I think ~85 schematics is probably better for now than the >100 we had before. And these all seem pretty different from one another for the most-part as well.

I just want to point out something...all the ones that required another schematic that was not a component has been removed or had the base component reduced to alcohol. Like Tatooine Sunburn.

Am I the only one seeing a major nerf to our buffs ?

Looking at BoH, currently people are saying +830ish mind for 12mins total - thats you full for an hour.
Currently with BoH, one per 7 mins, you get effectively 3685 mind over an hour

I know this isn't the best way to compare, but Im starting to get underwhelmed by our stat buffs.

Our decent stat buffs so far look like :

Vercupti
PETS ONLY!
Health +1395 14 minutes 3 seconds
Action +1395 14 minutes 3 seconds
Mind +1395 14 minutes 3 seconds.

Now, IMO that is the kind of buff we should see for players at Master level, any players that want a buffed pet ask a doc - I know I did at master CH. I got the secondaries buffed, as that makes a huge difference, getting primaries buffed is useless.

So, these pet buffs will sell to novice CH's doing gnorts only, and no one will want our pitifull stat buffs

I didnt think it was possible to nerf the Chef, but they did it under the disguise of a revamp to make us better.

I know we haven't seen all the details yet, but Im getting VERY depressed, and can see my Chef going Master Doc instead at this rate :/

I have yet to see a food or drink that's made me say "wow, people will want that!"

Fatgit,

One thing you are not seeing is that they are changing the combat system. They are changing the way ham bars are working, and one of the things they are changing is that mind will not matter as much as it does now. Right now our buffs are suppose to be balanced to work with the new combat system...So we really have no idea if it is a nerf or not, since all the numbers will be changing.

The problem is, the new combat stuff will take months, and yet again, the Chef is supposed to sit and do nothing until then :/

We will not sell pet buffs - docs do em better and longer.

We may sell skill bufs as long as the filling system is tweaked

We wont sell stat buffs that are worse than our current ones, as people are too used to the current levels until they get around to putting hte new HAM stuff in - which could be May/June time - thats a hell of a long time to be making Def vs Dizzy for a living :/

If thats teh case, they could easily set them to current buff levels, and lower once the new system is in, rather than leave us in limbo for months, as per usual.

I want these new changes to work. When I first saw them I went "wow", but as the figures come in Im thinking "eek"

Synthstake

Reduces damage from all attacks by %24 for the next 35 attacks.

You don't see people wanting that?

I haven't seen that anywhere, so I was only going off the ones I had seen so far,

I is reasonable, but it isnt going to make that much difference in a lot of cases - it will mean a BH takes 5 shots to kill me instead of 4, or a FS NPC will only hit me for 4k instead of 5

I can see its uses yes, but it still isnt a "wow", and with a 1hr filling... (I know you agree that 1hr is way too long)

Personally, I think even 5mins on stat buffs, and 10mins on skill buffs is too long to wait - after all, theres no wait on doc buffs, and 3mins on spice.

-Pet buffs stack with doctor's buffs.

-I completely agree about the 1 hour stomach is too long...EVERYBODY agrees with that and that is the #1 change I am going for. (No, not only, but it is the top of the list.) I think if we can get it lowered to half an hour things would look a lot better.

Yes, they stack, but as an ex-Master CH, I know primaries aren't the issue, pet regenis.

Pets have 40 in the secondaries, you buff a pets secondaries, it makes a massive difference.
If the pet buffs were secondaries, I would go WOW, but in all honesty, when a Master doc can buff all stats (mind doesnt mattter - peace pet, t1, attack sorts that), 1500 ontop of 2500+ (especially the secondaries) is sucky

I know not everyone can get a buffer etc, but primaries on a pet dont make as much difference. Yes, its a nice buff, no, it isn't going to be a big seller or very useful to most CH's (1500 on a 12k HAM pet with Light armour and 60% resists doesnt make a difference)

It may seem as though Im nit-picking, but so far, despite the initial delight, Im not seeing much to grin about after the dust settles.

I know that may change after more results come in, but a useless buff in the Master box ? Seems like more of the same to me
