Thread: Why didn't I think of that! (Selling Lots of food)
In reading the boards to learn more about being a Chef and advancing in my profession it has become apparently clear that we as a group must share our creative ideas. The two biggest issues seem to be money & selling more than one item to a single person. My wife gave me a great idea and with a little polishing from this community I think it could work well. Now my disclaimer...if this has already been talked about or tried or flamed ect. then I am sorry to have wasted your time.
Back to the idea. My wife is a creature handler and like everyone has said they use alot of food. Food and creatures work like this apparently...If a creature has wounds the food "heals" the wounds. It also appears that food regens loss stats faster after a fight as well. So I made my wife a backpack and called it "Creat's Treats" and loaded it with 15 wheat based items. I keep a 2nd "Create's Treats" pack with me and filled for when she needs a new batch. So she said "Why not put a pack on the Zaar and call it Dino Chow or something?". Hmmmmmm
Expand this beyond creatures and you could make "Mind Packs" "Action Packs" "Health Packs" ect ect ect. That would solve 2 basic issues we Chefs have...Selling in qty which equals more money. Now the hard part, Pack's in the Bazaar would not show up in the "Food" specific sub-folder however I believe they are both under the "Misc" main folder. Would anyone find them? Maybe when you hand sell one you mention to your customer that they can find more under "Misc." folder?
Another issue is if someone owns a pack already and has it equiped then the 2nd pack acts as an organizer but does not increase the amount you can carry. In other words, If your wearing 1 container, the 2nd is useless except for orginazation. So what would an ideal Qty inside the pack be? For my wife it's 15 stacks plus the pack (that turns out to be roughly 36% of total capacity which means she has to reduce capacity to 64% before we can trade).
Last issue is cost. Let me give you the basics of farming your own stuff. If you have Harvesters they take power & maintaing and in return you get product. The cost on harvesting your own goods at a 75% location is below 1cr a unit (roughly .6 or a credit) if you are harvesting your own power. So if a recipe calls for 50 units your cost is roughly 30-50 credits depending on how strong your vain you mine from is. (For specific costs go to SVGCraft.com and you can plug your own %'s and power to determine your cost per unit) So lets run onthe high 50 credit cost X's 15 stacks is 750 Credits....add on the packs cost and your at 800 even. So what would you charge? 1500? 3000? Free for the UXP?
Lets brainstorm as a community...what are some other pros and cons...can this be expanded?Maybe pack refills get a discount?Look forward (I think) to your comments ![]()

That's a good idea.
One thing i should point out, though...you don't get UXP when your food is given to a pet.
I put a idea like this on this board awhile back
I called the lunch boxes they would hold up to 50 stacks of food items only and only take 1 space in the backpack.
Lunch boxes would be able to be sold on the bazaar with food in them and would say what was inside of them when examined.
Or they could just patch the ... #%#% ... game and let us staf items with same names
The pack does not show up as "food" on the bazaar, it shows up as "wearable containers", so the only way someone will see it is if they look there.
Secondly, most people are too full inventory-wise to grab a full pack, or even a half filled one, so they can buy it, but can't retrieve it.
I tried this, and put a full pack on the bazaar... around a week later since it didn't sell I tried to retrieve it. It's now in the hopper, and I can't get it back. It says I'm full. I went all the way down to 1% and I still can't get my pack and 50 foods back.

I'll vote for that!
Well, I put 12 stacks in a pack (6/food & 6/drink), renamed the pack Mind Food & Drinks and placed it in the Zaar for 1500 credits. I played up the description to read like an advertisement. Guaranteed that the drinks were at least +75 and Food was +90 etc.
In the disclaimer section I explained that in order to retreive the pack that the user would have to have to be under 70% capicity. Then I threw in a blurb about emailing the pack maker for discounted refills.
I hope it sells, if not I will try a more populated city. I make packs like these for all of my friends and even the occasional outsider that gets in the group and they all love them, of course they are free too.
As far as wishing that things stacked...well they don't, so you can improvise or wait till they do.
Also, if this got popular, there'd be an issue of trust, as anyone with domart IV could make a pack and stick it on the market... I think they like to right click->details...
Well, the mind pack sold within hours at 1500 credits. I also put it up for sale in Moeina on Naboo, fairly busy but not real busy. Will have to try more items in specialized packs and see how different packs do. I will post my results.

You won't be able to stack units of the same type of food, because they all have different effects, they'd need to be identical to stack.
I would like to see factory made food be able to stack, though.(i haven't tried to, so they may stack, I just dunno)
