Thread: Bio-Engineered Tissues for Chefs

Hey all, with all of the bio-engineered tissues supposedly being fixed, we're all starting to discuss our new markets: one with tailors and the other with chefs. None of us really have any question at all with the tailor market, we're expecting it to be quite strong and profitable initially. However, we are having many second-thoughts about the chef side of the market.

Our understanding is that our tissues provide very little effect to your foods and drinks and that most chefs won't even bother with buying the tissues at 2 credits per resource for making them (100 cr for a duration-enhancer, for example) as they would increase the costs of production by too much.

Given that they all work after this next big patch, would you guys still consider them all useless and/or too expensive if they sold at about 100cr/tissue?

I wish I could give you details on what they all did but most BEs don't know squat about tissues since they've never really worked, and I'm included in that bunch.

IF, IF, IF, IF, IF
That's a lot of IF's. But, IF they actually work, it MAY be worth using them. However, it wont be if they simply halve the buff, which the last lot I tried from a master did :/

I sincerely hope they will be useful, but I have lost all faith in the devs, and Im simply biding my time until a better game comes along now.

I think they will be okay only if I can bring the resources to the Bio Engineer and have them make me Schematics for the Tissues , that way I wont need to pay very much, I can ruun the factories and everything myself.........

though even at 150% duration buffs the foods they enhance will still be short and rather useless.

The way that the chef products are, there is very little use of tissues to foods if we pay 100 credits for each tissue. Since adding the +3% or so duration on something which adds up to about.. what 1-2 seconds for every minute a buff lasts on a duration and double the cost is quite useless in my mind.

I would love to use tissues in my food to enhance them, but I have enough problems selling some of my stuff at their current prices because of how little they buff and how short their durration is.

Sorry, I'm a lurker here, not a chef, and this issue interests me as a BE, but the thing is, there is just no way a BE can offer these to a chef for 100cr/ea. For example a bio strength formula (one of the lowest level, easiest to make ones we have)takes 50 units of resource, 30 of which is meat (which is costly). Figuring with factory production and all that I don't see how any BE interested in actually making a profit above and beyond the value of his resources could possibly charge less than say 350cr/bio additive, so that 100cr figure is, I think, out of the question.

thats why they will sell best as a compoent schematic think about it a chef gives you the resources and some credits to make a Schematic for say 100 then they use there own resources there own factory and there own time to make them .. all you needed to do is make the schematic

Hmm, no idea why a BE would give up a high level schematic for something that would potentially make a chef a lot of $$$ for 100cr. Makes no sense to me.

Yep, there's very little advantage to using supplements in chef food.

The durations bonus are still minimal for the amount of resources they require.

The stat change supplements lower one stat and increase another. In other words: total value add 0.

If the supplements only added somthing substantial to the food, and I could create food that better than any other chef because of it (think weapon powerups) Then I'd buy them in a second. But as they are now, you can only use them in food that is missing negative value in order to gain anything.

And knowing those crafty devs and their eye for balance, that's not likely to happen

I'll have to eat my words. There are a number of schematics that would only benefit from bio-engineered supplements.

I'll be trying some out once the boost goes through to see if the effects are worth the price.

because the chef products that can use BE components wont sell for alot of money?

Untill they fix the chef profesion, they wont be able to sell the crap that uses BE components..

The longest duration that a BE component can enhance is about220 seconds so even if the component added 100% duration that food just became barely useful in duration.. Now the stats these foods buff typically are for about 100 or 150.. even if the BE component adds +300 to one of the stats that means the food is just barely useful because it still has a 220 second duration.

You guys gave the wrong answers.

You were all supposed to say, "No, we wouldn't buy them at 100cr/each but we WOULD buy them at 10k cr/each!"

Actually, that was the response I was expecting. I wish devs would fix you chefs. But don't worry, you can't be too far from being fixed. We BE's thought we were as ignored and hated as you guys, commandos, and squad leaders (first dev post in our forums was 2 months after release, I think). Well, commandos got fixed and are now overpowered. BEs are now getting half-fixed (pets still horridly broken). They only have 2.5 professions to make playable now. You have a 40% chance of being next!

Oh, also, if devs ever do give you guys attention and make our tissues worth-while to you guys, be sure to drop by the BE forums and ask around about our tissues. We would love to be business partners with chefs (especially more than CHs is the general feeling in our forums since they control our market right now).

Good Luck!!

there is no way chefs can use BE products even if they gave the purported buffs. +2 or 3% to duration is hardly anything. 2 or 3 seconds for every 100 seconds of duration... most of our food lasts under 200 seconds. maybe if the food additives costed 5 resources to make but atm things like this really make me question whether the developers actually played all the professions they created or dreamt up some idealistic world in which the professions all functioned normally.
