Thread: Please don't hurt me for asking... (Food Stacking)
I know this must be asked daily and honestly... I checked each and every sticky (twice), but I cannot find the answer. So here's the question: What foods stack?
I'm sure there has to be more than one food / drink combination (I hope so), so I'll state what I'm looking for.
I would like two combos: PvE and PvP
PvE: Primary need - long duration on all. Secondary - Health buff, Health regen, and defense type food.
PvP: Primary need - health buff, health regen, action regen, ranged defense / dodge. Secondary - needs to last a minimum of 5 minutes, preferably 10.
One final question: Let's say I'm all buffed with my PvE food / drink combo. Provided I have the stomach for it, will I be able to eat / drink my PvP combo to override my PvE, or are we still getting the message: You already have ate / drank something that affects that stat (I know that's not the exact mssg, but you have the idea)? ![]()
Any assistance would be appreciated. And again, I am sorry if this is somewhere else in these forums.

This is the worst place to ask this question becouse chef's are greedy and won't tell even if they know ( and they do know ) becouse they want you to speed credits to figure it out yourself. Like I just did I bought garrmorl and vercupti thinking well these will stack but they dont. That's why you dont see single stacks sold much anymore either. It pretty much comes down to if a food and/or drink have 2 or 3 mods the same it wont stack.
Thank you... I think.

The honest truth is....we don't really know. Maybe because chefs don't use foods as much as our customers do. We *think* that you can take multiple foods affecting the same stat, as long as the total buff remains below 250 (although maybe that only applies to action/mind regen). If you stick to foods with non-overlapping stats (one with +action regen, one with +health & +mind regen, etc) you'll definitely be able to stack them all.
Figuring out what foods *overwrite* other foods is a whole 'nother situation that has been looked at even less.
I suspect that Higginsis is sitting on some info about stacking, but the devs won't let him release it for one reason or another. Maybe there's a change coming up with pub 23 on this. /shrug.
You're right on 2 points.
We do not know and also we don't use food as much as our customers. This is mainly due to the demanding nature of Chef and the amount of time needed to craft.
Thank you all for your honesty. I have to admit I'm surprised of your lack of knowledge of your own product. I'ma shipwright on one of my toons, so I can easily say I know what it's like to be completely time consumed in crafting since nearly every product I make is hand crafted one at a time. Yet, I have a very strong knowledge of what my customer base wants and needs because I've spent the time in space to learn what I would want if I were in my client's shoes.

Ohh we know our craft well, better than our customers that is, but the problem is it changes every publish without a heads up or explanation. Imagine if they changed the mass on ships and components every publish and you could not see the exact mass number on the ships or the parts, only % of mass used up on the ship. Wouldnt that be fun. You could not know how all the components were meant to interact and would have to wait for customer feedback to be able to more or less determine the workings of it becuase the devs sure will not tell you.

Well you people ( chef's ) know what food's sell the best and that would mean these are the one's that stack. One post says we dont know becouse we dont use them I refuse to say that no chef's have alts that use the food they make. Another post says it depends on if you are melee or ranged and this has nothing at all to do with action health and mind stats becouse we all still want the best that gives all 3 and very few foods stack to do this. And yet another post says we dont know becouse it changes in every pub. I don't know if this is true or not and im not gonna "say" that it don't happen. Im not saying that all chef's are bad im saying that at least a few a few of you know what we wanna know and just are not saying. I love chef's and I love the food's that they make I don't blame the chef's I blame the dev's but if you know what we wanna know ( we being so many people in the commuity that buy's the food you make ) then by all mean's say so. Either way within a week's time im gonna know and post it on here for everyone eles to know as I am making a chef myself as we speak.
I can tell you what sells best at several of my locations, or overall, that doesnt mean I can tell you what HAM stacks are best for you or which options are currently working. I think all the posters on this thread have been very straightforward and given their best answer, no need to knock em becuase its not the answer you expected.
If there is a community of crafters that is characterized by its openess and interest in clients and craft it is the Chef community. We have endured all sorts of sillyness and always try to help each other out. Please refrain from implying that we are keeping "secrets", as we are clearly not, and by all means if you do figure out and make a comprehensive analysis of HAM stacking let us and our customers know.
I for one really look forward to you testing out all the HAM combinations in a weeks time without having even yet finished chef, even with a finished chef

The other factor to consider is that the rules on stacking keep changing with each new Publish. We are not being informed of the changes in the release notes, we are only finding out about the changes when our customers complain. When we get some info on how it's supposed to work we might be able to give some clearer answers but it seems that at the moment, no-one, not even the devs, know how it's supposed to work.
yeah they could at least tell us what they are and we honestly need to friggin decide on something and stick with it or at least they should tell us what they change
