I dont know about your servers but on Intrepid ive noticed a huge glut of Master chefs come on the scene in just the last week. I've counted20 just on naboo alone (no idea if they were just visiting or what but thats where they popped on the search.)

There are a couple of posts and ive overheard people talking about how they ground out chef in a week and then decided that they kind of liked it and would stay chef for a month or two until they move on to another holocron or that they were going to make a TON of schematics, drop Chef and undercut everyone for some extra cash or for free for their guilds.

Now im realistic, i know that even with a huge glut of chefs we would still only number like 5% of the server or something even if there were 60 of us, but ive been seeing a trend lately that makes me shudder. I've personaly seen at least two shops that had crates of Breath of Heaven for 35k. a TON of them, a whole vendors worth. Not to mention other master foods for just ugly cheap.

The point of this post? just venting i guess. They can charge what they want (although i have no clue how they can afford to do that). But a small request to the Holo Chefs, Please price reasonable or at least just give your products away to your guilds. If those kinds of prices exist for to long people will expect those prices and there is no way a pure chef can afford to keep up production when BOH is 30-35k a crate.

well,

what do you consider a 'normal' rate? I sell them for ~50k ( or plan to, they dont sell well when stats are buggy ). And thats with a pretty nice profit.

Its like 90 - 100 resources ( dont recall off hand ) to make BoH's... even buying stuff at 3 credits a pop ( 300 ish cash ), you could sell it for 1k a use... 25k a crate, and still make 700 credits profit on each use... not exactly massive profit, but profit none the less.

Ya also gotta think about opportunity costs. Making that one BoH means 3 Fishnaks you cannot make. If fishnaks are a good seller for you and you have a slightly higher cost associated with them because of their utility, you are missing out.

I personally would rather sell fishnaks vs BoH due to the 6 alcohols vs 2.

heeh sounds like someone hasnt made a factory run of them yet.

This was exactly what I was talking about in the other holochef thread. It just disgusts me that Sony is doing this to crafting professions. Im betting they never even thought about the effectson the economy. Personally I have no desire to run my factory for 2 days so I can make 700 credits profit. Thats absurd imo, tho I realize you may think its acceptable time/profit for you.

I personally sell BOH for 350/chg or 300/chg in a full crate. I put a max rate of 4k per stack on them and I sell them very well at that price.Do not underestimate the value of your food. Keep in mind that people use your food to make money. Many people are able to run 20-40k missions thanks to the food you sell them. Your food is a money making tool to them, I dont see how its not fair to take a cut of that for your time and effort. I have a difficult time keeping stocked as it is, if I sold for thoseprices Id be running 4-5 factories non stop just for BoH production and doubt Id keep up. An awful lot of work for 700creds when I could just go grab a 20k mission and be done in under an hour.

If its any consolation, imho after we get "re-balanced" all if our current food is going look kinda silly compared to the new stuff.

So don't be sitting on too much inventory, and don't worry so much about ppl piling up schematics. Someone would have to have ALOT of identical subs and ALOT of certain resources to make that a feasible venture.

Holochefs will quit the proffession while we will stay. I have no problem with that, my food and drinks will be allways better than holochefs one cause I can wait for weeks to get the best resources I can get to make happymy customers, while holochefs will use any resource they can get do make fast money.

There is enough market to keep all of us busy. We only need to look for the exigent customers and avoid the "fast food" ones.

And hopefully, some of the holochefs will notice how good are we and will stay with us (joking, of course )

Well you have to remember that differnt servers have differnt economys. On intrepid the usual going rate for a BOH is anywhere from 400-500 a charge. Or at least thats what it was, it seems to be leveling out to around 350-400 with the regular masters.

BOH takes ALOT of aludium pu36's and to do a full run of them takes almost 2 full real days just for the aludiums then another day and a half for the BOH's Thats alot of factory time. I also have to adjust my prices for the fact that I experiment the buff and duration instead of the charges.

You also have to remember the top end trickle down effect. If you sell your Master level foods for 150-200 a charge your customers wont except you selling ryshcate for 150 a charge. To scale the difficulty and buff correctly you would have to sell your non master (yet very useful) food and drink for like 50-75 cr a charge on that scale. You also have to factor in the time and investment involed in becoming a Master Chef to be able to make the BOH in the first place, as well as upkeep and overhead on your shop, factories, harvesters, power costs, travel costs to get the best resources etc.. etc..

I sell my BOH crates for 90k for a full crate and they sell just fine. I realize that people that sell cheap and stuff will not be able to keep up with production and demand and all that. This post was just a slight vent about how we Chefs dont value our food enough. A single FWG5 goes for 300k-500k for the good ones, i dont think 90 k for a whole crate of master lvl buffs is to much to ask. And since they fly out the door anyway i guess neither do my customers.

Woah there, gotta remember the components. When you need to run a factory run of 600 Aludium MINIMUM to make 4 crates of BoH, which will tie up your factory for days. You are talking about 270 resources per BoH, and factory time, and your time.

Here's the breakdown

Breath of Heaven

15 oats 15 rice 6 identical aludium pu36's = 30 resources + components

aludium pu 36's

10 cereal 10 fruit 10 metal 10 radioactive = 40 resources

40 x 6 = 240 + 30 = 270 resources per BOH

3 credits per resource 270 x 3 = 810 per stack (and that is for some pretty crappy organics)

thats not even including

Total factory time including subcomponet run 3.2 days, harvester costs, travel...blah blah blah.

I just dont see how anyone could justify charging anything under 400-500 a charge for these.

Actually, with the new experimentation rules on TC right now:
Using 4% vice 7% increase in experimentation per point invested in a good success
0 value inputted for all resources that don't contain a necessary criteria (speculative example:UT seems to help food, but foods without UT input will be reduced in power)

It seems like the food quality is actually going to get worse before it gets better. Can anyone on TC verify this?? Maybe it's the dev's record on breaking food every patch, but I'm stocking up on 100k stacks of resources and schematics before the patch.

Btw, on Ahazi I sell BoH at 80k a crate, and due to phonominal sales/factory downtime/insane inflation, I'll probably be upping the price in the near future.

Naturner,

While I do hope they fix the buggy food experimentation,I was actually referring to the entire profession rebalance "supposedly" on the books.

I would associate such a rebalance with things likemoving Sunburn from Mix2, altering how much Master Level food fills one up, and other enhancements of that magnitude.

I do expect to see MANY of our existing worthless recipes to be entirely rewritten. I am also hopeful they will add ability enchancements (ie. increased burstrun efficiency, duration, etc) as well to further separate our place in the SWG universe from both smugglers and doctors.

Yeah, I know its alot to wait for, but even if EVERY one of our bugs were fixed....we would still be a "bottom of the barrel" profession with no true place in the universe (yes, I know we aren't the only ones).

As an aside, I still have not once seen any indication as to the purpose of the Chef profession in SWG. I would think that is the FIRST thing that needs to be ironed out. If we end up as a "lite" version of Smuggler or Doctor, I amSO quitting and not looking back.

I got what you were talking about in your earlier post, I forgot to add in my doubts about a timely rebalance

When they first mentioned this, I figured 6 months....the way things are going now, I'd say another 6 months for any food balance changes to go live Ironically, I don't think our profession is really that bad, if it were bug free...I figure the balance to be a little tweak in the grand scheme of things.

Btw, the 4% vice 7% thing isn't a bug, but the 0 resource value is (I think).
