Thread: Selling schematics???? Do you do it?
1000 x 25cpu = 25k
Base quality = 75% After experimentation 95%
20 x 1k = 20k
Total cost of Schematic = 45k
I find that is makes me a nice side income anywhere from 300k-600k per month besides my other ventures. I even have a side-side business of building up resources and making an ok schematic with them and selling the schematic and the resources to make the end product to others. It is not detrimental to my business because of a loyal customer base and business diversity so I feel positive about the practice. If you are in a narrow line of product I would not suggest that you do it because you would put yourself out of business.

I've only ever had people ask me for brandy schems. After a few hrs of collecting parts they always come back and say " I'll just buy the brandy from your vendor...want to buy some fruit and berries?"
I love it when people pick up a crafting profession so they can "roll their own". It doesn't take very long for them to realize it'sdifficult to pull off the stats they're used to buying when they make it themselves.
To answer the original poster, I never make schematics and probably wouldn't do it even if someone asked.

If someone comes up to me and asks "can you make me a brandy schem?" and they didnt know it took casks and alcohol and BSNs to make I wouldnt contintue the conversation.

no Offense...but that statement of yours is rather hypocritical...I know you've stated you don't buy runs of BE tissues anymore, and that you've been able to find BE's to make schems for under 100k for you...and yet you wouldn't do the same yourself...
my standpoint is this:
If you buy schematics, it should follow that you would be willing to make them as well. the same arguments that you use for justifying purchasing schematics as opposed to the actual product should work for you the same way it works for others.
if you don't believe in selling schematics, don't buy them or ask for them.
I would sell schematics, but it has to be on the following terms:
1) purchaser must come to me...not the other way around
2) subcomponents only

Hehe same thing happened to me a few times sadly they usually tried to sell me the really bad flora they just paid 5-6 cpu for
I am willing to sell/give schematics to friends however i seldom do. Most people like the idea of saving some money but they fall short when they figure out the time they have to spend waiting for their one factory making 3 runs, finding a tailor to make their trim or locating a BE that sells additives for the 5 crates they can afford. Not to mention finding some good flora so it will be atleast half decent food or drinks.
I doubt I would ever make schematics for anyone. Components would be a possibility but honestly I don't know why anyone would want that.
I would make them for friends, assuming all I am doing is making the schematics and they are doing all the factory runs. But again here I doubt this would happen, its far easier for me to just give them the food for free. ![]()

My reasoning for declining was based on the fact that there's SO much involved in a brandy schematic that it would be cumbersome to make everything and organize it all, not because I'm afraid that by selling a schematic I'm somehow going to cut into my own profits (which is the reason that BE's don't like to sell). If someone wanted an Alcoholschematic or something like that I would have no problem making it for them. But to make a schematic like brandy you'd have to make sure you also provided a alcohol and BE tissue schematic and on top of that they'll probably need a cask schematic too. It just seems like it would be a pain to work all that out.
If someone came to me and provided me with the alcohol, BE tissues and other resources to make Brandy, I'd do it in a heartbeat. But I wouldn't do it completely from scratch.
