Hello I am just one skill away from becoming a Master Cheff at long last. I am enjoying the credits I am earning from the TS and am finding some recepies that should also make some decent money.

I have been looking at these forums and have been watching what people are selling TS for. I've heard 500/use as a resonable standard. I have been selling them at 300/use myself and have found that the price works for me and i feel it is rather competative. I know some may say Im selling too low but im writing because there is a Master Chef in my server that sells crates of TS for 12k credit. thats for a full crate of 25 at 8 uses each. Thats 60 credits each use. My heart dropped to see it for such a low price and he seems to be quite pleased with his price. <shrugs>

Im not really sure why im writing this message. I guessI want to hear from someone else.

12k for a crate!! That is insane!!

Anyways there it is.

(from a server not to be named as i dont want to send buisness his way.)

Ouch, people who sell that low do undercut other chefs. You should talk with the person. And Reb, it's not about just 6cr per resource, you need to factor in factories, the cost to run your shop, cost for your time, cost for harvesters, cost to use travel to get to your harvesters and when vendor maintenance goes in, that as well.

I charge 1500cr for a stack of 8-9 from my shop. On the bazaar, I use the price range that other chefs use, 2000-2700cr. I charge 40k for a crate of the stuff.

You think 60cr/charge is bad? There's a guy on my server charging 50cr/charge and he FLAUNTS it to the other chefs, saying we are money grubbers and we'll never keep customers... funny, because I keep getting them.

While one of the chefs was a little worried about it, I just pointed out that eventually this kid will go out of business, because he won't be able to afford to run factories, harvesters, or the time to churn out to meet the demand. There's a reason I raised my prices, and it was to control the demand, because at the time I didn't realize how low I was undercutting my fellow chefs by.

When you undercut from ignorance, it's ok... that can be fixed, but if your guy is doing it to be malicious and drive other chefs out of the marketplace (like, putting this stuff on the bazaar in your area to drive you out) then he needs a slapping around... That's just not cool.

Not everyone charges "per use" - many of us charge "per resource unit used", which I much prefer, as people require different things - some like higher buff/longerdur/low uses, others prefer all exp on uses.

Sunburns use 100 resources, if you charge 5cr a unit, thats 500cr per stack, 12500cr per crate.

I have increased the prices on factory items due to the time it takes (aludians take an obscene amount of time to make :/ ), but generally I charge 5cr per resource, unless Ive had to pay more for resources on the bazaar.

At that, I can make a decent amount of profit. I don't see the point in charging inflated prices when I can make enough as I am, but thats a personal preference.

fatgit... good luck with selling things at 5cpu. I hope you do well with it. However, for myself, considering the time that I put into getting up to master, the time it takes me to track down good resources, the time it takes me to make everything, and all of the associated costs, I'm going to sell things for as much as I possibly can get away with. Especially since it's my only viable source of income, other than running missions like every other hack n' slasher out there.

On a side note, my smuggler friend who does the business side of things for me sold a 15 stack crate of 14 use sunburns for 175k. He's a business genius.

I use heavy harvesters they pull up resources for me at .2c per resource

tatoonie sunburn takes only 1 resource that is required to be high quality the rest can be absolute crap.

Anyone thats charging that much needs to understand the reason not to many people know abvout you buffs is because they cant aford them or the buffs not wirth the price.

I am making a huge profit now because of how many sells I make per day not because im overcharging so much that I make enough money per week on one sell.

If you want to be a big business Tycoon as a chef go ahead. I became a chef to provide buffs to people , my goal is to provide buffs to as many people as I can at a price thats worth it to them.. Only a select few want chef buffs at those high prices . Others that have never tried chef buffs are not willing to pay so much or afriad that they wont be able to make enough money to make a proffit while under the effects.

I have people come into my shop and buy TS for 350cr per use just fine. I could never charge 5cr per resource and such. Reb I don't see how after paying 90K for a heavy, all the cash and power they take and you get it for .2cr per resource. If you can, I am shocked. Even with the stuff I sell everyday, I am already flat broke by the end of the night because of upkeep and resource runs so I know that you are just breaking even, if not under.

It seems like too many people feel they need to be appologetic about charging a lot. I dont get that though. This is our money maker. This is what we do. There's just no reason to feel like charging 60k for a crate is too much. i sold 5 crates in the last 2 days.

If a player is a newbie that cant afford much. Im not going to recommend that they buy a crate of TS it is as expected "out of their reach" I'd recommend a stack and i've even been known to give away stacks for free at times to get people to try them. Thats how they get to know how good the stats are. Not by buying a crate. Once they want more, Then they may be wanting to buy a crate.

I have costumers that are millionares already. They are millionares because they get money easily doing destroy missions. Me however, im a Chef/Merchant with very little marksmanship skill, my livelyhood is solely dependent on my sales.

My most regular costumers inform me how much money they make thanks to being able to use the TS. They come back for more because they know they are getting their money's worth. and i actually make a decent profit also "heaven forbid!" a chef with money. lets get 'em!!

In addition

I dont make large houses to make a lot of money from: I am not an Architect

I dont make great weapons to make a lot of money from: I am not a Weaponsmith

I dont get to train wonderous creatured to make a lot of money from: I am not a Creature Handler

I dont make a lot of money from destroy missions: I am not a fighter

I am a chef and i expect to get my money from my crates of food because that is the way it supposed to be.

Well, there are various methods for conducting one's business and if someone is satisfied with their 5 CPU price, well, more power to them. If you find that it's cutting into your margins, kindly talk to the fellow. If they're not willing to help you out by raising their pricing slightly, then you'll need to explore other avenues for boosting sales. A good attitude, responsiveness, and even delivery services for bulk orders can help you establish a solid clientele. I have a lot of repeat customers (who currently have stopped until the stack bug gets fixed :smileysad who are willing to pay my list prices (which I think are fair btw) or contact me directly about negotiating a deal. You have to remember, to a lot of the advanced players who pull in money hand over fist, a premium for supplies when they need it is fair and justified.

There are over 8 chefs on my planet which are all fighting head to head to see who can sell or corner the market on Tatooine Sunburns. This unfortunately really dropped the prices. I'm currently selling at 125cr each use, so a stack of 8 for 1000 creds. This is the most expensive price I have seen on my planet, and I'm still moving them. Every other chef that I have talked to is selling sunburns for 100 creds/use or cheaper. Very aggravating.

That's really just totally ridiculous of him... If it's someone on Bloodfin, give me their name (in a PM, of course) and I'll send the boys out to "talk" to him.

nevermind, I just saw what server you're on, and it's not Bloodfin.

Have you tried talking to this person? Maybe they just really don't know how much money they're shorting themselves and other chefs by selling at this price. For some odd reason, there are people out there who don't read the boards, and therefore arent't enlightened individuals like the rest of us.. /snicker

But honestly, just try talking to him/her. It works more often than you think it might.
