Thread: Mandalorian Wine Schematic : Should I Share?
Its up to you really.
I consider the schem just another of my products. its a tool that you get to use, just like the 12 point suit, and top end resources. You should be able to get a ROI on all of your tools (ROI is return on investment)
I had one made for my by a chef on the server about a year ago. it was free and a gift to me, and was used for a special drink to use at a wedding. I "gifted" him back some resources that he lost in a factory accident. At the time we were the 2 biggest chefs on the server, and it was not like we were competition we were totally Dominating the server. I think I ended up selling about 4 crates of that schem publicly
Since then I obtained my own schem.
I have made one schem for a fellow chef, it was for public sale. I charged them 500k for it. They supplied resources (the ones that i recomended) I supplied the suit, my own port, and a resource center. Everyone left happy. This was a chef that I knew and would consider friendly competition.
I did NOT make one for another chef. This chef was mad at me for charging, I did not know them at all. When I told them 500k they filpped. Called me a jacka$$ etc. I asked them what the reasonable cost would be. They said something like 50k.
them: "Its not costing YOU anything to make it'
ME: "So my time is worthless? my 12 point suit is too? the actually schem? My Skill points? The 20 months as a MChef experience to know where to experiment?"
they did not respond very politly. I said bye bye. They came back later that weekend and told me ok, 250k. I said I'm sorry, but the price is now 2mill. I don't want to deal with the hassle. Other than some choice words, that was about the last I heard from them.
Now that was an extreme example, but I think it is really up to you. I would make it for a friend, for a specific use, for free. I would do it for a polite customer for a reasonable price. I would Not do it at all or for an extreme price for anyone I did not like.
/sigh
imho its selfish. oh well.
if i ever get 10mil cr, the schem or loot like that..anyone please hit me up, i am more than willing to help others
some of us arent as lucky as others

I'm not even sure this person was a chef.Could besomeonethat wanted to cut out the middle man....ME.
It's not just the money.....I bought this thing when it was considered useless cause I am a chef and, well, it was the only rare item we had. I work hard for my credits, very hard and this thing cost a ton. Just ask my guildmates that see me crafting all day long. A lot of the new chefs want to jump in the mix on the same level without going through the hell we chefs have faced. I say walk the path and you will be a better chef because of the journey.
I am more than willing to help with any info I have as people can see in the forums, but I don't want to take another chef under my wing or spend all day making schematics for others to craft....that's why I have product on my vendors. Maybe I am selfish, but the time I have to play the game is very valuable to me and it is very limited. Feel free tothrow anyquestionsat me in game because i enjoy helping others in this context and I willdo my best to respond even if it takes some research time permitted. But I have drawn the line on the schematic and the more I think about it, it is the right decision. Don't hate me.
Despite often helping new chefs on my server, I wouldn't go around selling schematics for mando to anybody for any amount of money either.

Had a player ask me to make a schematic for the wine and they would provide the resources. I am the type of person that will drop what I am doing and run to help anybody, but I said no to this. Is that wrong in the other chef's eyes?
I explained that I spent 10 million on the schematic and very few have it on Radiant. Due to it's new popularity, I am finally seeing some returns on it and feel it gives me a small advantage than some of the other chefs as it is my best seller these days. Does this make me a greedy SOB?
Feeling guilty and want to know what you guys think about it. They never offered to pay for the schematic but I doubt I would have accepted that either.
Well, I will chime in here. I think this is a "depends"!
New chef, or someone you don't really know, asking you to make a schem for them, any schem, I say NO. The fact that it is Mando, which cost you $10 million for the schem (what I paid on Radiant for mine also!) is a double NO NO.
For someone you have a working relationship with in game, even a competator, I don't see this as too big an issue. I would assume in helping out a fellow chef in this situation could warrent some return assistance down the road. But who knows. I would not make that part of the deal, but if you have a relationship with them already as being in the same prof, both passionate about your prof in game, etc.. then I see this as professional curtesy. Should they offer to pay you for the use of your knowledge? Of course. In this way you gain some return on your $10 million investment, just not in direct product sales.
If you decided not to share this, even with a "friend" in game, I don't think anyone would look poorly on you. So not to worry there. Don't feel guilty.
My other thought on this, as it has come up with me also, is this..........do you really need money that badly? I know you work hard for your business in game, as do many people, but when push comes to shove on Radiant your one of the two most popular and well stocked chef's. I doubt after your first 100 million you even looked back. And heck, I am in the same boat....I only chef really part time right now, not to the level you do, but yet if I need cash I can ramp up sales and regenerate millions pretty fast. The key is we have the quality resources to make quality products that will bring people into our shops. Something like Mando wine might help attract them, but it's not a make or break for most folks....people shop at your vendor because they like you and they like your foods/selection.
Bottom line to your question is nobody would look down on you for not sharing.Don't feel guilty. In fact, as you can see from the posts, more people share that opinion than the other side.
With that all said, is Mando really worth it now? I think we got the $10 million shaft from SOE on that one.....I mean, BoH is so close now that who would even pay for the Mando schem now? It sounds like you are like me, you wanted it just to have it, but from a pure business standpoint it was probably not a good investment for either of us (in retrospec).
Good discussion.
