Everybody, CHILL!
My God people. I think we all need to relax. I know I do.
There are a lot of problems, true. But just giving up and quitting isn't going to do anything. While things are on the test center, we have a good chance to get things changed. I don't think this is a total loss, and I think the new profession can be a lot of fun...if they change some things.
I have seen a few of the new drink containers and I have to say I love the *edit* out of them. I haven't seen a lot of the new food art cause I am only domestic 2 but I hope to soon.
I really like the increased durations. I was dumbfounded when I experimented on something that had 30 minute duration and each success raised the duration by 5 minutes, I didn't know what to say but I was definitly happy.
I think that while balance can be an issue some of the skill buffs arn't high enough. Ormachek gives +5% experience, the devs seem to think that is a huge number but it really isn't in the grand scheme of things. I would like to see the bonus closer to 20%.
The other foods that buff tihngs like Defense vs Dizzy and Intimidation are interesting but I can't see myself selling many. When I get hit with a DOT like that I just wait it out so the bonus from the food would have to be pretty good in order to have me buy it. But I ofcourse can't speak for everyone. The other ones like defence vs Fire will sell pretty good to people going commando hunting and PVPers will prolly buy it but I would still like to see it higher.
I love the buff time window.
If you have a link to info about the new combat system so I could read up on it I would be greatful. I can't really comment on it so far on Test Center except that everything seems to keep missing me, some kind new character protection field or something. All I know is that I can stand up to enemies a lot longer than I expected to. ![]()
I know they removed a lot of recepies and flavour textand that does bother me, but asking them to put a bunch of stuff back in will take a few weeks and that is unrealistic and not what I am asking for. I would rather they put in a bunch of food schematic quests for chefs from people like Jabba's chef and any number of NPCs and bartenders in the game. I would like these to be highly specialized foods (useful or not, after all we are the only profession that I know of asking for our own profession clothes
) needing special ingredients from the area they were learned from. Kinda like Ris armor for chefs. A kind of badge of honor to make one.
One thing I don't really like is the BE components. Yes they are completely optional, but if I am selling +10 buffs and another chef/be is selling +30 buffs I am not going to get a lot of business. So while they are optional they are also nessisary and I don't like being that dependant on another class. I have some BE friends in game and I will have little prob getting these things off them but now I will be standing around waiting for them to finish my components and it is just one big hassle. If I had to have a BE on call for everything i crafted I might as well make another character and use that as my BE, but I can't afford another account so I will likely get my business steamrolled by someone else who can ![]()
I do think that BE components are a neat idea but they will prolly be largely abandond by the chef community unless they give huge bonuses in which case a lot of chefs get very frustrated. Right now the BE components are +30% or so at best so they are largely consitered not worth it also because we were dealing with durations of 400s. but now with everything increased I am concerned that BE enhanced food will be far superior every other food and basically hamstring any chef who doesn't have regular access to a BE.
Also with reduced factory times you are talking about A LOT of be components with there being 12 BE food components(and if I am not mistaken the BE enhancers have to be put in a component by a chef to be used in food, the TC chefs could clear that up for me.) We need Tailor Trim for Flasks but we don't need 12 different kinds of trim depending on what we are making if you get me ![]()
Ok, devils advocate now... If I track down a BE, get the components, put them in my food it better have a good bonus to make up for all that effort.
I don't want to say take them out.... if the cost on them is prohibitive like in what barrels are looking like then I would say leave them in. I am just worried that with so many BE components they will go almost completely ignored by the chefs like they are now.
Containers.... I really like them. I think that material costs are a little high but stuff like Barrels should be hard to make. Any one who wants to make 1000 barrels of anything should stop and think about what they are doing. I am ok with the material costs and components on Barrels. Large glasses are a little much at 100 crystal gems, 10x that of a small glass for only 1.5x the quantity. I agree that once barrels are availableno one will ever want a small glass anymore. I would like to see there be some increase in drink uses but these should be a luxoury, I would never want a barrel to have like 10x or 20x the drink uses, although it would save on milk
I would be ok with 4x for barrels.
I think that is everything. How did I do for constructive? ![]()
Keep up thegreat work SirVimes ![]()
From a food user and sponser of several chefs:
The new types sound good, but almost without exception, the numbers (stats/charges/%/etc) except for duration are far too low to be useful. Even if the numbers were doubled in almost every case they still would be considered less than useful. The few that had stat boosts within a useful level were only for pets.Pretty much any that gave stat boosts for pc's were both too low andhad so few stat type choices as to be useless for most anyone.
We've finally had the opportunity to show a lot of people the light onChefbuffsversusthe only useful spice,Muon Gold, and now anything thatcould be useful for the Mind stat, which isby far the most desirable, is gone. Stat boosts formaster level ones need to be in the 400-600 range and scaled downto be useful, not 50-100. There needs to be a lot of choices in combinations ofstat buffs (1-3 stats, varying levels)like the current system butmore combinations that areuseful. Currently there area lot of duplications and ones that don't provide auseful level of boost. The new system, basically to all food users, appears to get rid of all the useful ones and leave those ones thatchefs didn'tmake because they aren't useful.
The new types need higher levels of bonuses and in some cases more charges available also.
It is my opinion that the Devs will NOT fix the crated food bug before they patch it to live, so as to ruinate 98% of stockpiles. Gauging by the levels they capped the new schematics at, there is a strong case that the current ones are considered TOO powerful. Maybe Tatooine Sunburns and Flame-outs go to excessive levels, but to completely eliminate Fishak and that particular buff type is even more indicative of what the average joe cantinapatronwould consider semi-stealth nerfage.

I will get on the TC, and will try to get some milk collected
Im not going to quit chef, I worked my backside off it, and I intend to see it through and try it.
What do I want changing ?
A stat buff should be re-useable the instant it wears off, or a max of 3mins.
A Skill buff, due to its nature, maybe 10-15mins before re-use
After careful consideration, I can see the point of the container costs, even if a run of barrels is likely to cost well over 1million credits, for certain items it would be worth it. I would like the costs reduced, and altered to flora based - we have to collect enough organics, water and gas without also adding extra minerals
I want to see our stat buffs at LEAST as powerful as now, otherwise we cannot compete with spice, docs and entertainers. By all means lower them WHEN the HAM changes come in, and at the same time as they lower ALL buffs. Leaving Chef with worthelss items for months is unacceptable
The pet buffs should buff secondaries, pref the regen stats. Primary buffs on pets are useless, only new CHs will ever buy them.
Weare being told that the new foods and drinks will be very effective with the new HAM system, where mind won't be the ruling stat anymore. The main problem is we don't know WHAT the new HAM system is going to be like. We have no reference to base the new buffs on, so all these new products appear to be nerfs. Also, this new HAM system probably won't be going in for 4-6 weeks AFTER the new foods are released, therefore we will be stuck telling our customers "sorry, these may be junk now, but will be much better sometime later".
Suggestion? Don't release the revamp until the new HAM/combat system is being released. Apparently they work hand-in-hand, and shouldn't be released one before the other.
Just a couple quick thoughts:
A food should temporarily patch up a weakness. For instance, as a crafter I chose to have low Health and Action bars. So, I use a Sunburn to stabilize HAM costs to those bars when I need to fight. If a thing onlygoes only 10% of the way tosolving my problem, I won't go look for it. In that spirit:
Skill Buffs, from foods at the chef level, should temporarily sew up a weakness. A defence against intimidation buff should insure that for a period of time the user is meaningfully insulated against intimidation. In other words, the buff should +50% or more, not +7%. The skill buffs either need to be radically enhanced, or skill buffs need to be stackable.
The bar was set for stat buffs by the enahncement of doctor buffs. I understand thatdoctors actually have to be present to delivertheir buffs, and thatmakestehm a somewhatdifferent consideration. Nevertheless, I considered our best buffs in the old menu (fishak, boh, sunburn, GGP) to be at the low end of average in a world that contains +1500, hour+ long buffs. I was looking for buffs, especially at the Master Level, that really wowed me. I mean +1000 buffs that last30 mins. We perhaps do not understand the new combat system well enough to judge what is and isn't going to be a good buff goiong forward... but nothing I've seen leads me to believe that our ability to stat buff has been enhanced in any way. Let me repeat that: nothing I've seen leads me to beleive that our ability to stat buff has been enhanced in any way. (you can only say they've been enhancedby the addition of skill buffs if the skill buffs themselves are truly meaningful.)
To whit:
We need much more meaningful skill buffs, or else they need to made stackable. A skill buff food should nearlyclear up a deficiency for a period of time: a 75% defence against dizzy for 30 mins, a +40 mask scent for 30 mins, a +30 ranged weapon accuracy for 30 mins, etc.
We need more meaningful stat buffs. A stat buff should clear up a deficiency for a period of time. The high end of our old stat buffs should be considered average in the new buffs.Master Level foods should buff stats +1000 for a good long duration - or the equivalent of this kind of buff under the new system.
Too much in our newmenu looks like novelty food. I hoped for a menu __full of foods__ that people would say: yeah, boy howdy, I really want that buff. Not, oh what a nice little enhancement; if I stumble upon some, or get some from my guild chef, I might remember to use it.

PS: sorryif anything in my manner seems likeSour Grapes. I've been a Master Chef for several months now, and have waited patiently for this, and am somewhere between really disappointed and flat out flabbergsted at how little has been put ... on our plate.
On a more realistic note:
fix Won-won and that other food. They are currently 3 min buffs with an 80% filling.
I'm sure that must have been a mistake.

'min' as in minimum or mind?
