Thread: Tatooine Sunburn Boycott

I think I have something that might give the Chef profession a bit more "air time." That's right, we have to stop selling anything that anyone really wants and to me that means Tatooine Sunburns!

And how do I know that other "non-useless" professions want these things? Well everytime I accidentally step into a city with my "Novice Chef" tag on, I receive 3-4 tells (before I can switch the tag to "Novice Brawler" or something else) about whether or not I can make TS's or if I wanted to sale a manufacturing schematic for them. Yea, right like I'd cut my own throat by agreeing to that last one anyway...

But it seems to me that TS's are the only things that work well, and which everyone wants. So let's stop giving it to them. Obviously SOE wants to keep us as useless as we were designed to be, so why fight them? Let's prove them right by saying very loudly to everyone in the game that Chefs are useless and pointing to the only thing that is of any worth and just make it unavailable. This will piss off everybody who wants them and then they will start bitching about us on their own profession forum board, and thus get us more airtime and possibly get us fixed faster.

I know this won't work cause Chefs want to make stuff and make money off of making stuff, and TS's seem to be THE cash cow for us. Boycotting making TS's would be shooting ourselves in both feet with a rocket launcher. But hey, hasn't SOE ALREADY cut off our feet at the knee?

Ah well, just some thoughts on exercising what little power we have in the game... and with the new special action costs, our power has increased at least a little bit.

I usually get a desperate plea from hunters to take all their inventory organics off their hands.

I guess I just don't unerstand your thought process here. You complain that your profession is useless. You probably have a hard time making money then. Why would you stop selling the only item people want from you? Instead of not selling it how about raising the price and do yourself a favor. If you think a manufacturing boycott of Tatoinne Sunburn will help your profession I think you are mistaken. It really doesn't matter to me one way or the other, but at least I'd use your product if you sold it. There are plenty of people that provide this, and to tell the chef's to stop selling their number one money maker, just doesn't seem practical.

Good luck on that boycott.

How is selling a manufacturing schematic cutting your own throat? Say you set the production limit to 50, then charge them as if they bought 50 TS's minus a discount for buying so many at once, and for you not having to gather the resources, it sounds like you are now better off then before you sold the schematic.

People don't even want T Suns when I yell that I'm selling them in towns on Naboo or Coronet!

I personally agree with not being able to walk through town anymore without endless tells. I used to sport my 'expert bartender' tag, but now just go without it so I get hastled less. Really, some of you chefs need to get over to the Tarq server and help me out

I understand the argument, but not selling/making tats is not the solution.

Speaking of which, I used to be able to drink 3 tat suns and yesterday when I tried I could only drink 2. Anyone notice this? With 3 tats and the proper food buff, you should be able to shake off the pistoleer knockdown nerf without action loss. Now, regardless of the drink, it's going to hit that action bar HARD.

What the hell are you complaining about? Useless? I've never seen anyone who was upset to see me show up with food and drink.

I feel the same way about probots. Unfortunately, with everyone getting pets now, the probot market has dropped too. At least your market is still there

Wow! You guys hate this idea.

Yea, me too. Its a bad idea. I wrote it after i got done doing who knows what with SWG.

Anyway, fear not everyone the people who can make TS's won't stop. And I think that Chef satisfaction might have something to do with what server one is on, what planet/city one is operating out of, and whether or not one is in a PA or not. I can see all of these things being important in progressing up the Chef tree and having a decent time going through it.
