No matter how hard I try I cant seem to milk a picket so I decided to give in and put an order out for it.
What are the prices all of you offer for milk per unit? And what pointers can anyone give me to milk a picket I must have petted they hide raw lol.

Are you using Mask Scent? You must have Exploration 2 and be masked in order to milk anything.
I offer 35cpu for any milk of any kind, since I'm saving up for when I get the Creature Recycler I'm working on. I offered 100 cpu for a particularly good spawn of Lesser Plains Bol milk recently, but that's rare.

LOL, yeah, you MUST use mask scent or they run away. As it is with mask scent be prepared to move with the animal....it's not too forgiving if they take a few steps and you don't.....it's makes you start again.
I just dropped shipwright with my alt and picked up scout. Now working on Ranger. Just out in passing I have grabbed milk off this or that critter as I see them. I have then tossed all those small chunks of milk into my creature recycler (a must have for chef's I tell you) and out comes "milk" (in the description it says "Homogenized"...lol, very funny!). Just this weekend in running around I recycled a stack of 22K of milk. Enough to make a full run of bantha butter for a full run of pikatta pie. In the past that would take me a whole month to collect even offering 50 cpu.
Have your scouts/ranger group up and pull high end missions for creatures that drop a lot of milk, like famba's. Grabbing over 200-300 units per milking can really add up....get two missions, milk them, run between them, then leave them intact. Cancel the mission, then grab two more...or else wait a time and come back to milk them again (for a time after milking you can't remilk them....they are "dry"). Also make sure to use Veghash to get the most milk possible.
Good luck.

Have you actually noticed better milking with Veghash? The last time I checked (although that was last summer), your creature harvesting skill mod (whether from scout/ranger skills or veghash) didn't change the milk amount.
I may give that a try, see what I get.

DOH! Now you have me worried. I just automatically take Veghash anytime I am out harvesting. Since I was ramping Scout to master over the weekend and then into Ranger I expected my harvest amounts to keep changing....but I never checked with and w/o Veghash. Maybe I have been wasting it. LOL, good thing I make it and don't have to buy it!!

There is no appreciable difference in milk yield "with" vs. "without" Veghash...and this from a LOT of milking.

Oh, you need to get one! I consider the creature recycler "must have" now as a chef.
Well, here is what I know of the creature recycler. I actually looted all my components myself and built it, so it is possible. I did a creature recycler and a flora recycler at the same time, both very useful. Basically, the "recycler" part is you drop any creature item (meat, bone, hide, milk) into the creature recycler and it will combine like items. 1K of MeatX, 1K of MeatY, 1K of MeatZ, becomes 3K of just "meat". The stats are normalized to 200 on everything, so not useful for anything requiring stats, but great for subs (like bantha butter) that don't need stats. Getting 20,000 units of the same kind of milk is brutal if you ask me...but combining a bunch of 500, 1000, 1500 chunks to form 1 20K chunk is very doable. The creature recycler allows this. The flora recycler is nice too.....same concept, but flora....so tossing all my 10-20K batches of wheat for instance in there yeilds one big batch of "processed grain". Useable in schematics that don't need stats (soypro, protato, carbosyrup, etc...).
So, what I know about getting the creature recycler:
Creature Recycler Schematic - Loot from Alkhara (I got mine on tatooine)
50 units of fiberplast
50 units of steel
Agitator Motor - Loot from Canyon Corsair on LOK (important....the random spawns seem to drop these better than the corsair base...this is schematic you loot and have to make the motor. This is in my opinion the hardest item to find.)
Feed Tube - Loot from Tuskens (I have gotten 3 from just running around Fort Tusken)
4 Pulverizers - Loot from Chunker Nitwit (on Talus, right in the city, easy to get these)
4 Spinner Blades - Loot from Hidden Dagger (on Corellia....grab missions on them....takes some time but they drop them).
Put it all together to make one Creature Recycler. It looks like a big grinder...you drop stuff in it within your inventory and out it pops, combined and renamed.
Flora Recycler Schematic - Blood Razor (on LOK...easy to get)
50 units of fiberplast
50 units of metal
Agitator Motor (same as above)
Feed Tube (same as above)
Processor Attachment - Loot from Chunker Nitwit (on Talus...you will find these when you search for pulverizers)
4 Spinner Blades (same as above)
In my opinion these are WELL worth getting. I spent the first two weeks these were out finding all the stuff, it was good fun. You need some basic combat skills and I used my alt who is a rifleman. But nothing major needs killing. If your not a combat type I bet you can find most of this stuff now on loot vendors pretty cheap. Agitator motor is probably the toughest.
Good luck.

Before you go willy-nilly into the crafting of your recyclers be aware that they are bugged at the moment!
