Thread: New loot info: Resource Recyclers

These got added in the latest publish on TestCenter (my guess is going live sometime this week, but don't hold me to that). TH finally got around to putting up the link in the Pub 12 patch notes thread (although he hasn't updated his original post).

That page is it for official details (although the corres are hashing out some arguments, hopefully prodding TH/Tiggs into leaking more info), but I think it's safe for me to say that I'm going to be tracking down a few for personal use.

Would the generic resource that comes out of these recyclers have any stats?

Some details may still need to be tweaked, plus I'm not sure what's "publishable info" about this (TH posted a few more tidbits in the corre forum). I'd keep an eye on Dev Tracker and Test Center forum for more details.

Very interesting.

Would be cool if you could combine certain foods to balance out stats. Like if a some berries had 900+ PE and 900+ OQ but also had a low FL and DR, and combine that with berries that had a High DR/FL to balance it out.

Tho if that would be too unbalancing is debatable.

i think it should just be an average, say with meat

Meat 1: Meat 2:

FL500 FL 700 500+700=1200/2=600

OQ650 OQ 700 650+700=1350/2=675
PE700 PE 900 700+900=1600/2= 800
DR1000 DR 900 1000+900=1900/2= 950

so the stats will not be quite as good but being able to add these resources is great, so it cant all be good, yah or nah

I can see how this can solve the difficulty of getting large stacks of milk. Buy the little bits and pieces of 50, 100, 200 quantity milk (whether domesticated or wild) and make 350 generic milk. The only thing is... does milk recycle into milk, or does it recycle into generic creature food, rendering it useless?

I also like how I might turn those leftover 1k stacks of grinding water and turn it into a full 10k, 15k, or 20k for a full run of 1000 additives. And ooh, how about turning different stacks of gem into one stack of gem, so I don't have to make two different schematics per each trim serial #? Except, would crystalline gem recycle into generic gem, and would it then be useless?

Well, depending on the exact implimentation of these things, they could either be a godsend or total garbage

However, if Kriles says he's going to get some, I reckon he knows something good that we don't....

Would be very cool if it averaged the stats, but I dont think it will. Why? Look closely at the pictures...notice near the name it says "Contents: 0/1"? This, if it is accurate still, says you only put one stack of something in there, and it spits something out. You cant average with only 1 item.

So I'm thinking that the item will spit out something standard that can then be stacked with whatever else gets pushed through. I doubt the stats will make it worth it to any crafter that cares about stats. They cant let us put a resource with all 200's and 300's and get back 700's.

Unless the resource that gets spit out is a neutral resource.

So some generic fruits and some 990 PE berries would act like 99% max nutrition when used with brandy. Only downside is it becomes much easier to get 'uber' foods and other equipment, which will hurt the people who do work hard and stock lots of resources...

I saw the same thing, but the text als say this " For example, if a food recipe calls for 5 units of cereal, being able to combine a stack of 3 rice with a stack of 2 corn to make 5 cereal turns 2 small stacks of unusable resources into a generic component that you can use"

I don't think that it will become average stats for another reason. Every combination would become a new resource withnew stats. That would inflate the number of unique items in the game, something I think they would liek to prevent. maybe they would also need to generate a unique name for each recycling. (resources don't have any serial numbers at least not what we can see so I guess the name is used as a unique id).

Like always every explanation fro SOE raises a lot of more questions.

Someone on my server PMed TH asking if it would average stats or do anything like that, and he said it won't.

{hope I don't get smacked down by devs for "leaking" anything inappropriate}.

The output resources of the recyclers will have hard-coded stats, and will likely come out named something like "Cereal". Based on the "0/1" contents shown on the items on the linked page, I'll bet it churns through a single stack of resources at a time, creating a stack of the generic resource (which can then be stacked with other recycled resources of the same type).

I'm very interested in these for one main reason: the "Organic Combiner" has milk listed as a resource it can handle. I don't know about the rest of you, but getting large stacks of milk for Bantha Butter is a pain in the butt. With a recycler, I'm hoping I can buy up a bunch of little stacks, run them through the recycler to get one big stack of identical milk. And since it's a subcomponent, I couldn't care less about the stats.

Thats good know. And the milk thing was my main hope for this new system, along with stacking all my odd grind resource stacks like gemstone.
