Heya Folks,

Just got back from the long weekend and am amazed at what has happened to one of the most useful prof. in the game.

The diversity of foods to stack multilpe buffs maintiaining filling and duration was the best crafting and gathering fun I had in the game. It seems like Pub 17 has totaly destroyed that for chefs.

I had fun hunting for the best resrouces and crafting differnt foods to try and get combinations that would be effective in combat. It took time and expertise and you really had to know what to experiment on and what to look for to get a nice balance. (BTW I am not and never intend to be a million dollar chef, this was all for fun- its a game challenging and fun.)

But, now it looks like all I need to do is make one food. Not to FLAME but do the devs hate crafters.

They have taken a incredible crafting system and rendered it useless, to be just like the other games out there. I actually got in to a good grove mixing artisan and chef foods, oh well.

So I gotta ask Why be a CHEF? (I cant find a reason to recommend the best and most useful crafting profession to anoyone)

PS: I like how they did this right after respec, so the guys that actually went on vacation like the devs are screwed.

OK, reading the responses below I should clarify I usually dont make foods for selling I like the crafting and its a great boost to my other toons and guildies whenever I can get around to making a decent amount.

Basically it looks like you can stack differnt foods to get the same result depending on filling and duration, the regen for action and mind peak at 250 if its not capped at 200. Health regen and Health buff you can get in the 400s.

The following Stack-- (Sorry I may have not spelled them correctly but u get the point)

Kwilik and Garmoral

WonWon and Accragarm

Vagarain Canape and Vasarian Brandy ---- (BTW this looks like the best combo funny isnt it that prior to CU everyone used double Brandy and Canape to grind)

Vagarain Canape and Breath of Heaven ------- ( I start with Canape and Brandy and if I need a bost to healt I pop a Breath of Heaven, it will null out the Brandy but keep the Canape)

Kwilik and Vercupti (But not as effective for filling)

Long duration foods in differnt combos as long as they dont hit the same stat.
Caf - Bofa Treat - Blop Candy - Spiced Tea - T. Noddles - Kanali Waffers.

Overall you get very close results to what you can stack. The devs are being true to there word and trying to keep a hard cap on buffs from foods or docs (BTW Ive been a long time Master Doc as well, but thats another story.)

There are also other foods that do stack with the above accuracy food like Crispic, Vegesparine for melee Def (need to test more for low level folks grinding), Dodge food Air Cake Pikatte Pie, Veghash is great for harvesting bonus, Ruby B (low filling) and others.

So bottom line -- there are many paths to the same destination. We can still create lots of different foods and have a vareity of ways depending on availble resources. Its not the Chef I played for the months before, but its still very useful and starting to get fun again.

They are paying as much to play as you are, therefore they have the right to express concern and doubts over the direction of the game.

Ill say something positive. Before the CU, I was a DE for 9 months. Now im a Chef, and I cant stop making Foooood! Yah, the stacking of foods gone kinda stinks, but some stuff you can stack. I think the devs are trying to make it so u cant cram down low fill foods, that all concentrate on Health and Action. They want you to use more variety, like defensive foods, terrain negot. foods, acurraccy foods, and Regen foods.

The warleader of my guild has been my guinea pig for the past few days, testing each food out, and seeing what still stacks, and what doesnt. We've discovered it's Vercupti FTW! Kiwik Clusjo Swirl w/Vercupti, or Vercupti and Scrimpi are good combos. Add some Vegeparsin, Ruby Bliel, Deuterium-Pyro/Corellian Ale, and Thundercloud, you're all set.(And very full)lol.

I find that the low fill long duration stuff, like Blob candy, kanali wafers, and bofa treats work real well for grinding. And I know for a fact that Blob and kanali stack.

My only problem with chef, is the wierd duration on Exo-protien wafers, synthsteak, and the other foods, that only last for less than a minute. I consider these not worth the fill. And I do not make them. Hope this is considered positive feedback on the current changes.

Thanks for the inputs folks.

Im just amazed how a great system gets beaten into a medicore state, but I have some postive points

Kwilik and Vercupti do stack, and im trying to figure out what stacks with Breath of Heaven. I could purely alternate Vercupti and Breath and keep a good buff at a decent rate maintinaing stomach filling.

Chef is still a great profession its just not as challenging and exciting as before.

My main post was due to disapointment towards the devs who want to make this a pure combat game, when before you could have a great time just socalizing and crafting. This is what really kept me in the game is that I didnt need to go combat to have fun, there was more to this game. I just see it dwindling. To many great friends have left.

I think the biggest problem with the recent changes, CU included is that the devs saw people with insane armor, buffs, and food making them near invincible and when they rebalanced these issues, they promoted a reduced reliance on doctors, armorsmiths and chefs in hopes that this would allow people to become more independent and not rely on these goods and services. However, the very economy of SWG is focused on this dependence and the more they continue to weaken it, the more the crafters suffer.

Yes they did not fully take into account the tenous economy we have in the game. The CU has had a major impact. Lots of shops have closed up. Some new folks will take their place, but it takes a great deal of time to gather resources and such to be a successful crafter.

More of an effort should have been made not only in the CU but in ROTW to include crafters. The various items given out should have been limited use schematics thus giving business to the crafters. By cutting them out of the loop, and no pure crafter can even venture from Kachirho wihout being killed, they alienate part of the player base. They were catering to one group of players, while at the same time ignoring another, such is a recipe for disaster. Hopefully in the future they will make more balanced approaches.

I can't comment about hat it was like pre CU as I wasn't a Chef then, but I am one now and I love it. Ok getting started might have cost me a bit (35m approx :smileysurprised and ok I was a tad skint for a week or so, but after an evenign spent spamming while i watch a film with the Mrs, and my bank balance is looking a damn site healthier again!

People have been buying various foods off me; no one Food/Drinkhas flown off the shelf as it were so I can't see a great seller yet. I can now afford to buy more tissues and start making even more. In fact I am so happy with Chef, I want to double the number of factories and take on another vendor!

I had always put off crafting and I was originally looking for an easy crafting prof that would make me a few credits, not billions, and be rather easy to make. Well I took one look at a few crafting profs before I got to Chef, which at teh time I thought I wouldn't enjoy, but I was so wrong! In fact I have spent more time with my Chef than I have with either of my 2 combat toons...

Hello Again folks,

Ok so I tried a Theory based on info:

I know the following foods stack

Kwilik and Vercupti
Breath of Heaven and Vagarian Canape
Kwilik and Garmoral

What these food do is keep Action and Mind regen under a cap.

eg.1
Kiwik Clusjo Swirl (Food): H: +150, AR: +200, MR: +50
Vercupti (Food): H: +400, HR: +200, AR: +50, MR: +200

STacked : H 550, HR:350, AR:250, MR:250

eg. 2

Breath of Heaven (Drink): H: +400, HR: +200, AR: +200, MR: +50
Vagnarian Canape (Food): H: +150, HR: +50, MR: +200

Stacked: H: 550, HR:250, AR: 250, MR: 250

I think the stacking check is done on either AR or MR. If it is below 400 (Not equal to) the food stacks. Thats probably why 2 foods with +200 AR or MR dont stack. Im not to sure about health regen since it can go up to 400+ with a single drink.

If anyone can do more testing on this or confirm it would be great.

BTW - Other foods are jumping out but I am gonna do more testing this weekend like Crispic, Veghash , Ruby B (Low Fill), and Some others.

I also found that I can low fill the artisan food - Caf, Blob Candy, Boffa, and in a emergency take a Breath of Heaven and Vagarian Canape. The Breath of Heaven clears out the other foods.

Its still not the profession it was in the Hay day but no one is. (LOL, Commando Area Attack is still totaly borked to.)

Oh well , any confirmation on this would be great.

Thanks!

I'd say that more than likely in your two examples, the higher regen stat is simply overwriting the lower one. I was under the impression that the regen cap was 200 or 20%(maybe it's just 20%, but 20% more regen isn't the same as +200 regen). But the best overall chef buff I've found so far is Brandy + Canape which will give you 340 health and 200-250 to each regen for 16 minutes. Both wear off at almost the same time and their fillings will dissipate before they wear off.

I still love it. Sales might have slowed down during the first 3 days but now they are as strong as ever. And because its just a game, the money isn't really important anyways right?
