Thread: Chef Tips : Storage

I have been flooded withe-mails lately from new chefs asking questions so thought I would give a coupletips that might help everyone out. Theymay not work for everyone but I have found them most useful. If this is helpful, I will try to add a new one every week or so whenever time permits. If it is a complete waste of time, it will slide off the first page and I won't bother again

Storage:

If you have any merchant, you should create a storage vendor next to your crafting stations. (Please do not add it to the planetary map as it is quite annoying to use the galaxy search and see pages of 999999999 priced items) Store your product such as alcohol, dough, and any other component in backpacks and label them clearly for way more than they are worth so someone won't come in and buy them up out of spite. I split them up into packs of 20 because a full run is not always needed and when you are crafting an item that requires 3 different subcomponent, you will be able to fit them into your inventory to craft instead of pulling one from the pack and then running back and forth to the factory before crafting. They won't all fit into the factory a lot of the times as well and this way they are not sitting in your inventory waiting to load them in as soon as there is room in the factory. Give them a name something other than just alcohol during the crafting process such as: tree,horse,ocean....any thing you think of and label the pack the same when storing it.Nothing worse than trying to compare serial numbers. An example of storage:

Full run of 40 alcohols

Alcohol Horse : 20

Alcohol Horse : 20

or

Alcohol Horse : 40

This will stop all confusion when trying to round up the alcohol for crafting. And if you use one of the backpacks, you will instantly know you only have half a run left because it will appear by itself on the vendor. You will be able to look at your storage vendor and tell what components you need to stock up on beforetimeto craft. You will be one step ahead. This works for everything chef creates including chef tissues. Some foods will only let you create 10 crates because of the components needed such as El. Pica Thundercloud. Label thetissues in a similar manner including the power. Example:

Full run of 40 Heavy Tissues

Heavy 117 Yellow : 10

Heavy117 Yellow : 10

Heavy 117 Yellow : 20

You now have the tissues already set up for two full runs of Pica Thunderclouds and a backpack ready for something that takes 20 tissues such as Vayerbok. If I have some of the other kinds of tissues such as the flavor ones, I just throw that into the name as well such as:

Heavy 67 (Flavor) Window : 40

This may not work for everyone and was definitely designed to help the busy chef, but it comes in handy.I often have all my factories churning out one item such as alcohol and don't like leaving them in the factory. You could leave them in the output hoppers but it becomes a nuisance trying to remember which one has the alcohol and Iwould often forget I used them up and when itcame time to craft, I had to wait for the components.Even more annoying is when you start a factory before you log hoping to put the item on the vendor in the morning, only to find the factory stopped a quarter of the way because the output hopper is full.If your vendor limit is reached fromhaving too many components(which happens to me quite a but) just see what you have the most of and make a finished product that sells good and uses several components. A backpack with 40 Blob Candy will save you more room than backpacks of 40 Lights Additives and 40 Carbosyrups.

I think is a great guide and thx for taking some of ur time to create this great guide.

PS: I hope you make more "Cheft TIps" like this in the future

IGN - Jeddy Blade

"The loot market is set by the CRAFTER, not the LOOTER. Even the best crafters frequently forget this because they have so much money, they've stopped counting. The people who loot these items want the best price they can get for them. If you ask them if they'd pay the price of the item you're making from their loot, most likely, they wouldn't." - Jenner's Advice(maker of JnFs SWGCTool).

Yeah another idea, other than using random words would be to use letters (Alcohol - A)

Yeah I did that at first but then ran out of letters, haha. Actually started doubling and tripling the letters (AA,AAA). I save all leftover components and fear mixing them up. I store them in afactory and whenit gets full I fill my inventory and go craft beside the bazaar, loading it with 2k singles. It provides great advertisement for my shop and I just can't seem to throw anything away.

Instead of random words/letters, I put the first four letters/digits after each of my component runs, makes stuff a lot easier, and it's pretty much unique every time.

If it isn't casks and it isn't hfa and its under 10 crates of it you should most likely just pitch.

If you go with just one letter for instance x like i use and you click on by name it will all be in order and no issues. Unless your running 3 shops with extremly low prices you usually won't have more than 40 packs of subcomponets.

I usually just put the date I created the subcomponent in the name. But then I usually don't have more than 2 runs of any subcomponent at anyone time, and those 2 runs are almost always done on separate days. Makes it easy for me.

For me they usually go straight from the output hopper into the input hopper as I use them pretty much as soon as the subcomponent is complete. I only really label them to keep track of "left overs."
