So i just looted a +25 Artisan Experimentation tape off of an Elder. A human artisan with engineering and domestic arts 4 could have 14 experimentation points. Since bone armor and artisan weapons suck, the only other thing that has more than 10 points max is food. So my question is this. Is there any food that wouldbe worth making and selling as an artisan with 14 points, or should i just hope that the Devs make it so that the secondary, +24 fire resistance, can be chosen to stick?

Some artisan food is really nice because while the boons are not as great as with chef foods, most of them have really low filling, so you may be able to squeeze some in after for example a double ahrisa buff - or stack lots of them to get buffs almost comparable to chef food.
But I disagree with the statement that bone armor sucks. If you prefer to fight unbuffed, a well made bone suit is lightweight and has decent energy resistance. When hunting stormtroopers with my CM/Carbineer char, I prefer to wear Tantal chest and boots and bone for head (can't wear the helmet), arms and legs. Works amazingly well, just try not to get hit by creatures because bone is weak against kinetic.

My favorite artisan foods are exo-protein wafers and travel biscuits. For some other ideas, check out this recent thread:

+25 artisan -- also means more experimentation on vehicles

good bone are is worth it (36-42% eng res is what to look for). i have used it on the cor-vett mission... and during faction grinding missions... works well. My krayt bone armor is my main back up to my comp and Ubese.

Thanks for the ideaas. Bone armor hu? Wow, haven't made that stuff since the first couple of months. Here are the reasons i don't think bone is worth making right now:
* Comp armor is way to good. 35-45 is good, but 80-90 is much better.
* Buffs. Almost everyone gets buffed when there is serious buiseness to do
* $$- If you can't offord comp, you get bone or whatever. I don't think i could sell amazing bone armor for enough to make itworth it, especially since the big spenders are comp or bust types (I know I am that way)
* Condition. Bone armor only has 10-12k condition. While that would mean i would sell a ton of it if it were popular, unfortunately, it is yet another reason bone armor is not popular.
It may become a possibility after the combat nerf. In order for that to happen, buffs will need a nerf as well. Composite is always going to be better than bone armor as long as people can be buffed.
I was under the impression that speeders only had one line of experimentation. Do they have several? I'll need to check that out. Thanks for the ideas everyone.

Ya, that might be the only useful artisan food. Unfortunately, they have so little filling/power/duration/charge that at most i could probably squeeze out another charge, get them from a 17 to maybe a 19 on the TN, take the filling down a point or two, or get maybe a minute more. I'm starting to think that I would be better off saving it. Thanks for all of the input everyone.

When you stick that CA in a piece of clothing, can you come back here and confirm that you actually get 14 points? I've seen a lot of speculation and heresay about a 12 point hard cap and I'd like to hear it from somebody who has actually tried it if 14 points are possible or if the cap is indeed at 12 points.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I have the same discussion going in the artisan forums (is 14 points worth it) and the answer appears to be a confirmed yes. In the FAQ at the top, 14 point humans are discussed, and one artisan has varified that he had 14 points. here is his screenie:

14 points or not, im thinking it will not be worth it

Spiced tea and exo protein wafer are amazing artisatn foods. Spiced tea is a low filling that adds 90 or more mind. Wafer are awesome 5 filling or lower and protects ya, taht a good one to make.

Personally as a doctor, I wish more people made Ruby Bliel. Buffing faster = more cash in the pocket per time period for a buffing doc. I know, havla is better. But, but, but, its also WAY more expensive. It severly cuts into my profits to buy bivoli and havla. Make some kick ass cheap Ruby Bliel. Smart docs will realize it should let them make more cash quicker while not cutting into the profit like havla.

Did I miss something, or is Ruby Bliel the exception to the "bonus has to be over 100 to work" rule? I was under the impression that for the increased injury tx/wound tx/buffing speed, the bonus couldn't be under 100 for anything. Does that only apply to havla or is it across the board?
