Thread: Umm I fail t see the importance of Chefs...

Is there any point to having Chefs? As a Combat player, I cannot make the connection here. According to Quleion's post, the best BoH(whatever that is) ups 3 stats by 450 for9 minutes...woohoo. I can get buffs from a Master Doc that can up 6 different stats by 1000-2000 for 2 hours. The only thing that I can see a Chef can do is improve the Mind category, but even then, not by much and not for long. Is there something I am missing here? Some large chunk of info that I don't have? Or is the Chef just really broken right now? If so, I feel your pain, as Commando was horrible for a long time.

Really broken right now. One of the biggest issues for chefs is to get our buffs more comparable with doctors and smugglers.

That being said...you can take both doctor meds and food buffs at the same time. Doesn't have to be an either or.

..

here is the problem:

"Zaphar of Shadowfire, Commando 1/1/2/0, Novice Pistoleer, CH 1/0/0/0, and Smuggler 0/0/1/0. "

why is it that 3/4 of the people in this game are some command/CH/BH combo?

does anyone else think this is both annoying and stupid?

Ummm...I'm pretty sure me being a Commando is not responsible for Chefs being horrible. I hae wanted to be a Commando ever since I started playing, even when thy were the biggest joke. Now, after getting MC, I will have some skill pts left over, so why not take CH? Itsafun profession and doesn't take much extra work from what you normally do. Who wouldn't want a bunch of cool animals following them around?Plus,a Commando basically need some sort of tank because 1. you have to be extremely close to use specials and 2. there is a huge delayafter doing a specialand doing anything else combat-related, during which time we are defenseless, sitting ducks. That said, I don't see that many Commandos running around.

Everyone on my server is a some combination of a Doc, CH, Commando, or BH. Not sure if it was intended to be this way. The main reason i became a chef was because no one on my server was making mind food and any doctor can tell you the only way they get incapped is when they get too much mind damage.

Chef food and drinks aren't all that bad once you get to the Master Level. That guy that just DB'd you... he's one of my customers.

However, until you get to the point where you're really pushing yourself in combat, I would agree that chef buffs are pretty much pointless. A good weapon will carry you through most of the noob encounters you're likely to face without having to rely on armor, spices, or food.

How many doctors can you fit in your backpack ? Sure you can get a doc to buff you, but if you die, you need to find him again, if they drop you need to find him again.
I can carry 210 tattoine sunburns in one crate. Thats a hell of a lot of Str/Stam buffs - perfect for carbineers. With sunburns, I rarely need to heal myself when doing faction missions.

Food and drink are portable. They stack with doc buffs and spices.
You don't get the 3min downer on food and drink.
Doctors cannot buff Mind, willpower & focus.

Now, using Doc buffs, food & drink, drugs, I have had at various times, health of 5.5k, mind at 2100 with 1400 focus & willpower etc.

When married together, food & drink add a sizeable bonus.

Yes, we're broken currently, but we are still useful (well, will be if they ever get off their arses and fix stacks)

The foods i get are a great boon, whether in addition to buffs/spices..or on their own out in the wild. My personal favorite is to drink breath of heaven or tat sunburn to chase down two high quality veghash's...i spam my special moves and get low or no reduction in primary stats...keep makin em chef's , I'll keep buyin em.. so much so I have spent about 200k on crates in the last 10 days(stocking up on em, the only chef i know is on rori)

You ever see a mime? There is not much point in them either, but they are still around.

Deeberdoo: I'm on naboo if that's any closer for you. Though I'm not a master chef yet. But working on it. Check out my vendor some time, I'll be putting some crated tatooine sunburns in my vendor soon.
