Thread: Yet another reason I hate holocron maddness.
I got a holo-mail from a guildmate telling me that there was a guy next door to one of my food vendors selling my food. Mind you, I already had an issue with one gentleman buying my crates of sunburns and overcharging people for them due to a location near the Kyrat Graveyard. We discussed it both publicly and privately and all was well. I expected this new situation to resemble this on some small scale.
I always offered publicly on the Kauri boards that if people wanted my stuff for consignments, I would make them custom crates without my name on them and they could sell them as they wish. Currently, I have been getting a lot of tells about when am I going to restock my Theed vendor with XXXX? Granted, when I get dozens of e-mails on sales, I usually delete them because I know who my good customers are and I keep them informed when new products are ready to be had.
Well, I went to this guy's food vendor next door to my PA's mall just south of Theed and found my entire inventory from my vendor on this guy's vendor, all selling for 50% or less than what I usually charge.
I looked at the owner of the items and saw it was the same guy I had spoken to in tells over a week ago who wanted my food to put on his vendors because he needed to grind merchant for his holocron. I had informed him that I do enough business myself and while I appreciated his desire to bring attention to his vendors with my prodcuts, I am a master merchant and have no lack of vendors. I suggested he read the Merchant forums on advice on how to "grind" merchant or even the Jedi forums.
Now the two things that piss me off the most are-
1- The guy obviously did not give a hoot about our conversation and proceeded to sell my named products anyways on his vendors.
2- The guy is selling them in the house NEXT DOOR! Not on another planet. Not near another NPC city. RIGHT NEXT DOOR!
I proceeded to /ban this guy from every building I have admin on.
Am I out of line for being pissed off about this?
Personally, I hope this putz never gets his Jedi. Behavior like this does not deserve a Jedi Slot in any way and SOE should be ashamed that they create the need for people to act in this fashion.
eww wow sticky dilemna. Its definitely rude to set up shop right next door for sure (tho other professions have this problem a lot). Im not sure how I feel about him buying your merch and reselling it tho...I mean, he did pay for it. So that does make it his. And if its yours, then you should be able to sell it if you want. It seems a lot of hologrinders really just are in such a hurry they miss the stuff about being nice/polite to people and sometimes they really dont 'get' what you tell them cause they are so focused on exp that the little menial things fall aside.
Id certainly be mad that he set up his shop right next door to me after buying out my entire vendor. But I dont think I would be mad that he was reselling my wares. I stopped putting my name on my products as I stopped buying products with names one them due to an issue where I bought a bunch of spices from someone who 3 weeks later ended up being a scam artist and ripped off some good people of a lot of stuff. Someone came into my shop and saw that I had spice on a vendor with his name in the title and assumed that I was in cahoots with this guy and labelled me a scammer and said he would boycott my stores. So I will not buy anything with someones name in the title anymore. Since I have that policy I didnt think i should be putting my name into my stuff as well. The flip side of that, if you put your name on your stuff and then you sell your stuff, you never know what someone is going to do with it, but youve sold it to them so its really up to them what they choose to do with it. IMO anyway. Id certainly be peeved big time about the next door issue tho. Id try to talk to him again and explain the impact on you and if that doesnt work just leave him banned. He can send in someone else to buy for him, but if he does, youll be able to tell by the emails who it was and you can ban them too if you wish. Perhaps if you are feeling really generous (which Im guessing you arent hehe) you could offer to let him put a power up vendor or a "doo-dad" vendor in your shop to help him get a litle traffic. You could turn it into a business proposal and offer to rent him the space. Of course you may never want to talk to him again so that could be a useless idea hehe. If you did decide to do something like that tho...make him make a vendor in his own house and only give him admin rights for the exact amount of time it takes him to place his vendor.
Actually, I have no desire to assist in his jedi chase to any capacity at this point.
As I was re-stocking my vendors, two of my regular customers came in and were flabergasted that this guy would do something like that.
I have chosen not to take this public to my server board, but wanted to vent a bit to fellow chefs who have issues with holocron chasers in a general sense. I found it funny that somebody would do this. This guy will get even less visits to his vendors now and make his merchant xp even slower with this type of behaviour.
I still feel like the red-headed step child do to lack of Chef updates from Devs etc (Nothing against SV), and don't need holocron bantha poodu affecting my Chef experience either. I don't load my vendors for my customers to not have access to my prodcuts because some clown needs merchant xp.
If his vendors were on Talus, or Tatooine even, I bet it would have gone un-noticed by me for a lot longer, but to have the balls to do it right next door to me takes some kind of trash personality to pull off. That's all.
Put rat poisin in all your food and let the schmuk buy it. Then when people buy it from him they get sick! And no one will ever buy from him again! MUahahahahahah!!

Just go buy out his vendor and leave him banned, problem solved.
I personally would leave him banned and put him on /ignore, but thats just me.
This is one of the many reasons I no longermake foodfor anyone outside my PA.
And boy some of the responses I get from people when I tell them that are funny...just FYI to all you folks, if a Chef tells you he doesn't sell to the general public anymore, cussing him out will generally NOT get you any food either. Not do subsequent apologies and begging.

Not that I"m a chef. But I have to say I'd be fairly happy if someone bought my entire stock. Who the hell cares what he does with all of it after.
So he happens to be selling it next door at a huge personal loss. Meanwhile your raking in all the dough... *shrug*.
I have to agree with KnightHawk. He is giving you money for your stuff and that is better than it sitting on your shelf collecting dust. If you are really bothered by it I would put him on the ban list for your store.
One holo-merchant I ran across wasyelling that he had set up a new vendor selling holocrons. When I checked it out he was selling chance cubes called Jedi Holocron for 500k. I don't think the game needs more people like this and it is just another sign of how holocrons have ruined the game.

More the reason to go buy it all back, price it same again, and see if the idiot does it again....thats where the cash is. If he wants to be inconsiderate about it, test his resolve.

I'm sorry but I have to say you are wrong and he is wrong and both acting like children.
What you are basically saying is that if a person buys stuff from your vendor they cannont choose to do what they want with it.
When someone buys something from you you transfer ownership of that item to that person. When you OWN an item you can do whatever the hell you want with it because it's yours. Well don't get too dirrrrrrrrty with it lmao.
He is just a jackass. Go buy your stuff back and then ban him from your place so he doesn't do it again. Or make him withdraw the stuff from his vendor and sell it back to you that way so he doesn't get any merchant XP from.
I would be pissed too if I were you call him out on it. Why not post what he did on your offical server forum. That will keep at least some people from buying from his place.

Heh thanks....its so hard to make people understand sometimes. I became a Chef to be a group/raid/guild buffing class, not a merchant.
Call me crazy, but I was a caster-buffer in EQ (chanter) and DAOC (theurgist).
Everyone get so used to the "norm" that they can't comprehend anyone would play certain professions...."differently".
