Alright, I like to consider myself a happy Chef. I'm nearly to Master, only Desserts 3 and 4 to go I have a VERY LARGE customer base, as such, I can hardly keep anything in stock. I find myself to be the only Chef on Tatooine, and a very popular one at that. I have 8 Heavy Harvesters, a Fusion Generator, and a Factory, as well as my own personal Cantina in a House with other crafters and their vendors. I'm sitting pretty. I make a good 100K per day... assuming I have enough time in the morning to stock.

So what is it with all these people coming into Novice Chef and whining just because their Wastril Bread won't sell, and a Master Artisan can make better food than you? Just so you know... a Master Artisan's CDEF pistol is much better than a Novice Weaponsmith's D18 pistol. Each crafting class has to work a little to improve their product and get a dedicated customer base.

I amcalling for two things... I'm not trying to sound all high-and-mighty just because I am nowmaking money. I'm just very sick of everyone whining about how no one BUYS their food. It's true.. no one really buys Wastril Bread.. butMeatlump sellswell enough to meet maintenance until you get to Mixology 2. I'm sick ofother classes coming to our forumsand saying that our Tatooine Sunburn is overpowered. I readon another thread someone saying that "obviously, Tatooine Sunburn was only meant to give 160 to each stat... andnot 1600, so just wait untilit gets nerfed." Whatare they talking about? A Starshine Surprise gives the stats that they think theTat Sunburn should be... and a Sunburn takes two of those in order to make it, soquite obviously it should bemuch better.

Let us stop whining about howmuch we think our buffs suck, and enjoy the fun of running a bar I personally think our buffs rock, even 100to regen/drain rate stats is incredible for people who are so encumbered by armor. Most people I work with claim that food is as necessary as a good weapon, and I happen to agree with them.

This forumis a wonderful resource to get advice frommany accomplishedChef's, so stop crying NERFor PATCH and let's just enjoy ourselves a bit more

I'm not whining because no one buys my food. I'm whining because no one buys anything that's not in Mixology II, unless you're a master chef.

All food needs another pass.

Ya I think 100 buff for 3 minutes is justfine for a master item in an elite profession focusing exclusively on buffs. I mean it's not like there's another profession withanitem that buffs for 2000 for 2 hours... oh wait...

Well, Vaulken,

You are not the only Chef on Tatooine, on KauriChef Tocath! I've had my shop open for a few weeks, just northeast of Mos Entha in the needful things shopping center. While I certainly don't make 1000k a day, I do okay for myself. BTW, Based on this forums prices, your Sunburns are a little underpriced

Anyway, I've been having fun. I'm not exactly making enough to make it profitable, but I supplement with money from other activities. I go out quite a bit and sell food in Cantinas to drum up support.

As a master chef, all anyone wants is sunburn

I bit the bullet after spending weeks selling 2-3 items a night, made 35 stacks of sunburn, put em on bestine bazaar and every single one sold withing an hour.

Sure, people buy other items in 1's or 2's now & then, but they compare all our stuff with sunburns and say "why isnt the rest like that ? when they fix it Ill buy it"

I sell stuff as a novice chef. Course its all low priced junk, 90% probalby gets bought for pets, but I"m selling. No complaints there.

The big complaints are in balance. Doctors buff at the novice level about as long asour best foods that a master chef can make.At master doctor level you have Tattonie Sunburn Quality in all buffs, for 2hours or so. The worst spice has a time duration of 10mins and buffs a few hundred. Yes there are penalties. We don't compete so much with these classes, but food takes up a lot of inventory space, so a lot of people just pass on it as not worth their time.

I also have a huge complaint with how full our food makes us. You can't even eat very much food before you are full, so a good quality buff or buffing several stats is out.

I am complaining about FACTORIES!

Apart from that, I have a vendor and am doing great business, many repeat customers.

If i kept it on the map all the time and kept it stocked i could probably make 15k per night at least, maybe more. But just stocking the thing is killing me. I make 40 teltier noodles one night and they're all gone the next day

oh i wish factories would produce stacks...

But you must admit food needs a balance, somethings just don't make sense, example: Nutricake in desserts II, same buffs as felbar(also in desserts II) but less effect, less duration and costs more resources. a complete waste of a schematic. (This is from reading a list of chef food, I'm not at Desserts II so if it's wrong sorry.)

So I've undergone an interesting transmogrification (I got that word from reading a Calvin & Hobbes book) in my opinion of the Chef class. If you look through my past posts you can clearly see that I'm hugely frustrated by both the quality and duration of our buffs. For a class dedicated to buffing, I just am totally not impressed with our current lineup.

HOWEVER, as a Chef-businessman...I have to admit that I do have a customer base.

So...where does that leave us? Are we properly balanced because we CAN sell our foods? I know for a fact that if they go through our recipe line and significantly improve our recipes without significantly increasing our costs, I'll very quickly either a)be a multi-credit-millionaire with the huge influx of customers or b)be totally overwhelmed by demand and go play a game thats actually fun.

So I'm no longer sure where the Chef class stands to be honest. I definately want to see our recipes improved. SO many of them are just flat our broken. But there ARE a signifcant number that are good enough that someone dedicated enough can build into a business.

Sorry, no definitive conclusions in my post, just a Master Chef saying he's no longer sure we are as pathetically gimped as I orignally assumed way back when I was a Novice Chef.

ask yourself if you will still be able to make it as a chef when they make Venders cost 1000c for every 45 mins..

Thats what they are changing them too read the merchant board.. now any chef thats making from food 1000c every 45 mins is doing really good if there not only selling tatoonie sunburns.

Chef is sure a lot of fun to roleplay! I'm having a good time, even if most of my sales are of pet food.

The last I read it was being changed to 300cr per hour. I use the 'vending machine' vendor and I pay around 10k a day in maintenance already, so no I'm not terribly concerned about the maintenance issue.
