Thread: Holocron says Master Carbineer Need Advice
Ok so I'm going to be a carbineer and lose my Flamethrower and Last Ditch that does 5k after my Lowblow. What should I go up first in Carbine cause I have no clue on anything in the carbine profession?
BTW Panic shot/ lowblow/ last ditch in smuggler is very effective in PVP. You delay them knock them down and then last ditch that does over 1k in PVP. I am going to be sad to lose that.
here is how i propose you advance through carbine. i will leave of the combat xp tree since you get that as you go anyway
001: this will give you /burstshot, which many believe to be our best damage dealing special
401: this will improve your speed. i personally feel speed > accuracy. also, you will get /scattershot 2
441: this will bring your accuracy up to par, and give you a move called /crippleshot. many believe this is our best damage dealing special, and i will elaborate on the comparison between the two in a moment
444: finish off the class ![]()
discussion of specials:
burstshot has a 5x modifier. crippleshot has a 7.5x modifier. crippleshot also costs 2x the ham, and is 1/2 as fast as burst (roughly). in the long run, cripple has slightly higher dps than burst (by all of 1 point) but burst has higher damage per action point (damage dealt for action points spent) by at least 2 points per, which might not look like much, but when you consider the average burstshot costs 50 action...
scattershot i mentioned above because of it's usefullness. it will attempt to hit all three pools on your target. since we don't have head or body specific shots, this is very useful for finishing your enemy off if they are low in health or mind.
another thing to note about crip vs burst: crip costs mostly action points, while burst costs 1/2 action, 1/2 health. so, if you happen to have a particularly high quickness stat, you might benefit from cripple over burst from a ham standpoint.
finally, if you don't get burst right off the bat, then you will be stuck using fullautosingle2 which, although powerful, is the highest ham draining special out of the three (crip, burst, fas2).
eep. i left off an important point
your choice of leveling special really comes down to burstshot and crippleshot. burst**edit** is tier 1 skill. crippleshot is tier 3. if you want to get cripple first, you will be stuck without a leveling special for quite some time (again, you can use fas2, but you better be buffed).

First priority is to level to 0-0-1-X. Using burst shot you can level to cripple shot (speed priority). This will allow you to do the most damage possible wich will in turn bring in the most XP.
The bounty hunter carbine line really helps as well as you will hit the speed cap for some specials, but uses up massive skill points, so depending on if youwant to havea pet that can tank, and be able to heal yourself, you may not want to go there.
It is also a must to grab a crate of tatooine sunburns (food buff) as they will take the HAM on your carbine shots down to nill via adding 1850 to both strength and stamina.
Happy leveling, but enjoy carbines because they are really a lot of fun IMO.

you were exactly like me, I was master smuggler/commando. and holocron told me to go carbineer. but after getting advice, dump all the commando and smuggler skills. get BH carbine to 3.. then work on the carbineer tree it helps alot. get scatter 2 first then move up the rest of the tree.
that way once you hit 3/0/0/0 pretty much you fire all the carbineer special at 1 second even without krayt or speed slice. and scatter shot is like a range TKA combo, hit multiple hams but usually concentrate on 2 ham bar, also getting BH carbine also raise your Cl, and I noticed that higher your cl, the higher xp cap you will get, before i switch to carbineer, most time the experience I get is cap around 3.5k weapon xp, after raising to 4/3/0/3 now my experience cap is around 5.2k.. so you basically get more xp for the same trouble.
