Thread: Concerns from a BH/Carbineer trying to become a master Carbineer
I am currently a BH/carbineer trying to make the change to a full carbineer. I was at lvl 4 of bounty carbines and 2/1/1/2 in carbineer tree when i gained enough experience to go up two boxes in carbineer to 2/2/1/3. To do this however i had to drop two BH carbineer boxes (due to still being a master scout/marksman and quite high in the CH tree).
Before i dropped these boxes i had+95spd in carbines. With this kinda speed my attacks were extremly fast to say my laser carbine aint too good (3.7spd). After dropping the boxes my speed dropped to +65. As you can imagine i could see the difference in fights quite easilly. It felt slow and just not good at all. This is not good and something that definatly needs to be changed in this proffesion.
Ontop of this i have to drop another BH carbine box soon to get another in carbineer loosing me another 10spd. This i am not looking forward too.
Loosing the speed was not my only concern. I lost confusion shot aswell which i thought was an amazing special because joined in with charge shot 1 and full auto single 2 i was doing around 6k dmg in a matter of 2-3 seconds and the enemy didnt get back up for a few more seconds allowing me to get more fullatuosingle2 shots in for anthing between 1500-4000dmg a hit.
After loosing that spd i cannot get my fullatuosingle2 in quick enough before my opponant gets back up again and this is really frustrating. I am having to depend on my pets more and more often whereas befor i could take on high lvl MOBs (such as kunja warroirs) solo with no help from pets.
My main concerns for this proffesion are stated in that list by SOJ but i thought that i wouldvoice my own concern on that matter linked in with background infomation from when i was a BH/carbineer.
I dont understand why the carbineer gets so many accuracy bonuses and so little speed, its just very confusing. If i were to make my own changes to this proffesion i would add +30 more speed in throughout the tree and also add confusion shot. Change the name reduce the damage or whatever you wish to do to it but give us a Dizzy effect special.
Summary
- Add +30 speed in somwhere because the proffesion is just too slow
- Add a dizzy effect special in somewhere because we need it
- (even though it wasent mentioned) Make the Elite carbine ELITE!
These are my concerns with the proffesion at the moment and i hope i provided some useful infomation.
If I ever wanted to go for a complete PvP character I would do the exact same. I believe the carbine tree is the best that BH has as far as combat goes. Combine JUST that with master carbineer and you'd house people all over the place.
I suggest dropping CH, it's a crutch class. I'm not even a master carbineer yet, without any BH at all(look at sig), and I can solo just about anything with just my rock beetle and a DH17(speed over power. Speed = more specials = same or more damage = more versitility. If I had BH carbines too, then it'd be a different story.) Pets have barely any effect in large scale PvP, and are embarassing to use in 1v1 PvP. So I'm not sure where their incredible use comes in, except for maybe selling them to generate money. That's my two cents on the whole matter.

I was master gunfighter / expert BH.
I wouldn't dabble in BH again because I did it as Master Gunfighter / Expert BH before switching entirely to BH.You gimp yourself. What people forget is that you can be a master doc / master carbineer but you really can't dabble in BH without massive detriment to the flexibility of your character.
But if you try it, don't give up charge shot. It takes half the ham of underhands (same effect) and there's a timer on underhand.
Honestly, I think game demographics have pointed to too many BHs and they're trying to dissuade people from picking up the class. After Master BH I'm gonna look for some Jedi, and not finding any I'm going carbineer / TKA master so I can actually kill mass quantities of people again like I used to.

I freaking knew it, Ypi is a BH/Carbineer Dabbler...no wonder he thinks we don't suck.
Give up all your BH and Master Carb before you say anything else...beacuse BH/Carb is a COMPLETELY different story. Sheesh, I KNEW something smelled fishy.
Carbineer is broken pretty badly...if is wasn't, you wouldn't just dabble.

Master Carbineer/BH carbine - will beat anyone in PvP - just depends on who gets the 1st Shot.
I loved it, I would incap about 6 to 10 in the intial Rush to Anchor Head - get avg 6 DB's also.
All you need is Fire KD/Chargeshot - and any PvP duel is over - even beat some TKM's at 10 M's away, just need the 1st Fire KD and it's over.
I use to pop crippleshots like any pistoleer with their specials. +105 Carbine speed is nothing to laugh at, Gave up BH carbine for HOLO - and tried to PvP with master carbineer - let me just say it sux, so I just gave up the carbineer profession.
Ex: CH 4/4/3/4 - Master Medic - Master Scout - Master Carbineer - BH carbine
Novice ArmorSmith/Master Marksman/novice Medic/Carbine 0/0/0/4 - I love charge shot for Krayts - so I'm keeping it around

I have no idea what you mean when you say carbines suck. Why? Go look at the combat profs in the forums. EVERY SINGLE PROF CRIES ABOUT HOW MUCH THEY SUCK. Including the 'goldy' Bounty Hunters.
None of it is true. The people who are crying don't understand how to use their prof. The people who admire their prof know what they're doing. But it seems no one can see the positive aspects of their profs, or very few can, like Dirge.
After BH is finished I'm going back to Master Carbineer but this time I'll have Master TKA or Doc as well, haven't determined which yet.
Carbine is not the best solo PvP weapon AT ALL. Neither is BH. What is awesome are ranged combos surrounding TKA. These players are the best PK'ers by far. After I kill some Jedi that's where I'm heading.
Carbine is best utilized in a squad of carbineers where the force multipliers, state effects, and KDsoutshine the damage and affects of a equally-sized squad of opponents.

yeah, we're "ok" at that...but it still doesn't change the fact that at least half our specials don't work, our HAM costs kill us in 10 seconds (unless you're a spice freak or buffet fiend), and our "Elite" weapon sucks...
I admire what we're good at, but compared to what we SHOULD be, we suck...

My friend, I'mbeyond the carbine speed cap, don't tell me how fast things can kill your hams with the carbine specials.
But I use my carbine with composite armor on without doctor buffs.
Two ryshcates and a breath of heaven. Cuts ham costs for me down to 13% of their original cost.
And if you're using pistol specials, guess what, with human stats maxed for the action trio the scatter pistol specials always cost me -59.
Not that much but at 1 second per shot the action goes down.
Knowing this, when someone spams eyeshot or a pistol special into me and they're unbuffed, I spam legshot2 into them and guess who dies?
Amore powerful attack MUST use more ham for game balance.
Even pistoleers eat food, best pistoleer food is two tatooine sunburns. I used them all the time.

Nah im not dropping my CH tree yet, probably will after reaching master carbineer unless i change my mind again and try another proffesion. Having a tough pet around is the easiest way to get experience in this game that i see. I hunt solo on dantooine with just my mauler and we can take on just about any enemy on that planet.
I can rack up about 200,000 XP an hour if im not feeling bored at the time. I know that some people can get way more but i havent figured a quicker solution yet. Without my creature the process would be much slower and i would probably be back to hunting on starter planets with the current state of my charecter.
I do not PvP very often if at all so i dont use my charecter for that but my pet is the only thing keeping me alive in PvE. Maybe i will let the "crutch" go eventually but not untill im finished getting combat XP.
Its just the speed aspect of the proffesion that gets me. I dont mind about the HAM costs cause i see no problem with spending action points because i never take the grunt of an attack. The annoying thing is getting so many accuracy mods including running accuracy and aiming accuracy. Who still uses the aiming special? i know i barely ever used it. I stopped using it after i found out it was pointless. I wouldnt mind replacing some of that running accuracy and aiming mods for speed.
For the people that thing getting the BH line of carbines is good for fireknockdown are wrong. I think the attack is terrible. Firstly it is really deceiving. "Fire" knockdown... where is the fire? i know i never got fire damage when i used it. Confusion shot is the only good special in that line its the speed i was using it for. Underhand shot aint good either when you come to PvE. I have never been able to knockdown anything over lvl 25 with that attack but with chargeshot1 i can knock anything down every time. Underhand doesnt even do alot of damage, its not a great special.
At the rate that i am going in the carbineer tree i think i will master it and drop it. Try something else afterwards. I dont like it currently and am hoping for some grand improvements. At least i can hope for this even if it will not happen.
fireknockdown is 10x more effective than chargeshot. the 'everytime' knockdown your referring to in chargeshot is only a bug that is 'working as intended' if you also get the 'failed to knockdown your target' message it failed. the bug is they still wind up falling over. i don't even use chargeshot anymore. fireKD is so much more effective when not considering the bug.
bh carbine rocks compared to even a master carbineer. seriously.
