Thread: Doc, CH, or BH ?
Let me start by saying that I don't dislike you for your class choice, nor am I trying to get anyone nerfed...
I just want to help facilitate the reworking of this class by bringing up an important issue that seems to need a lot of repeating on this board ('specially with the holo draftee influx). These three classes work well with any ranged profession because of their inherent strengths. They mask the fundamental problems with the carbine class, specifically because the problems with this class exisit on such a basic level. HAM cost, speed vs damage, and broken specials are the top issues followed by the elite carbine issues which do not come to bear here.
The Doc never sees the HAM issue because of his buffs and potent heals. Too often it blinds him to the realities of this profession in light of other similar elite professions. He should however see the DoT issue if he follows the combat spam when he is grouped with other ofensive classes.
The CH has the leisure time to compensate for the HAM issues and low DoT and may not notice them.
The BH speed bonuses, same weapon specials, and surplus accuracy reduce his need for working carbineer specials, and increases his DoT until it looks balanced against other elite professions, which in general it isn't for the average carbineer who isn't overburdened with spare krayt tissue.
The point of all this, I'm sure, is obvious. If you are in these professions and are here to comment on the Carbineer class try evaluating it without use of these secondary skills. It is a poor approximation, but you will be closer to understanding the plight of the carb/SL, carb/ranger, etc. The carbineer is potent in some specific circumstances, most particularly in combo with these three classes. Do not however be deluded into downplaying the issues of the carbine class because you fall into one of the selective niches which obscures the significant problems that still exist for this class. Whena holo tears you away from that second profession you will find that the bell tolls for you too. (That or you will drop the least effective elite profession you have which in all likelihood will be the carbineer class).
Someone will inevitably feel inclined to say that all carbineers should therefor be CH / BH / or Dr and that if they aren't they have no right to complain. I can't imagine that the devs vision was limited to such a narrow range of possibilities though.
I think the Doc is by far the most powerful combination with ANY combat class.. Ever fight a Master Doctor/TKM or Master Doctor/Pistoleer?

How dare you speak common sense! While doing it in a clear, concise, and correct manner!
lalalalala, I can't hear yoooouuuuu.
In all seriousness. I appreciate your post and simply put. I agree. We're not as broken as some classes. However, we don't function as well as others. The DEVs have agreed to that basic idea. To tell us there is nothing wrong and to suck it up is just plain silly.
Be safe!
Heh, I'm a master doctor (first), so there ![]()
Anyways, you obviously have a good point, though you might not see me complaining about broken stuff here much because I don't even have most of the skills yet that are broken, or if they are, I just don't use them. However, if I was just a carbineer with maybe some purely crafting profession, I agree that you should not be limited to one of choice professions when you should be a self-sufficient carbineer, which obviously without some sort of major help, it's pretty much impossible. (I sure as heck wouldn't want to face 3k+ HAM NPCs/creatures without my beloved buffs / tanking creature, which obviously means something is wrong considering I get those things as my missions based soley on my *combat* skills.)
As a master Carbiner/Musician/Entertainer I have no trouble with mobs near 3000 HAM but rather than the ones with 9000 HAM (and they used to be social too...)
I agree with the first poster. It's a shame I have to surrender my skills in music in order to survive and do anything fun post master carbineer. I don't need the carbine XP anymore but I'm not able to do any end game feature with my skills of choice which is a shame.
