Yeah i never used scatter shot before since i stock up to about 800k xp before i train in any skills and decided to try scatter shot today... i dont know if this has been posted before, but when i use it i hit for 1 point of dammage and the stats on my laser carbine are 2.2 80 - 256 and i doubt i should be doing less dammage with a special than a normal shot... well i guess this furthermore describes our class PWND
lol... sometimes i have a hard time trying to believe it myself!

it does more the 1 pt of damage but the diologe is broken i would guess it does like 1000 damage split equally across all 3 stats i use it heavly to hit foks in the mind or to finish off a monster in pve with 200 heal and 3000 action

Use it for pvp, if the enemy is the usual buffed fulll composite. It will drain the mind bar.

Doesn't scattershot just fire multiple smaller shots instead of one big hit as for example crippleshot. Multiple hits mean it can hit the mind with a greater probability. However, as one of these small hits do much less damage than a hit from cripplingshot it evens out at the end. After all no matter how you look at it, every hit that is asigned have an equal probablility to hit the mind as the next hit. The difference damagewise between the two shots is simplythat scattershothits smaller amounts distributed among more than one bar, while cripple does one heave hit on one bar at the time.
This way ofasigning hitsdoes however have some other effects, such as that the scattershot produces much more even damage per shotwith, say, a laser rifle that hasa widelyspreaddamage.
I likescattershot mainly because the HAM costs for it is more even on the bars than crippleshot is.

Scattershot does produce really weird results in the battlespam, but the general belief is that damage mulitplier is around 7-7.5x, which is on par with Crippleshot, the only problem is the damage isnt always focused on one pool. One thing i do find is about 50% of the time for me i land at least 2 hits on the mind pool doing about 1200 damage in PvE, which is nice, i rarely PvP, but when i do it is usually in groups and i try and play the supporting fire role and usually just KD, Posture Down and Spam FullAutoArea2, for the Stun/Blind. So my focus isnt too much on Damage. But needless to say 1200 damage in PvP is still 400, and i have a low damage laser carbine, fast as hell and HAM's are basically non-existent (12/25/12) After playing carbines for this long Scattershot2, is vastly becoming one of my favourite specials, but maybe when i make master, our master special might take that honour ......
..... gee it would be nice to have one of those

Best way for me to see how well it worked is take some high missions with about 8k mobs or more. Kill a couple of em with just cripple or your favorite attack and watch how much their hams drop...not the numbers the actual bars. Then kill a couple with only scatter. Havent tested it Tooo much but it seems like it takes off more total damage than fas2 does but not all to one pool. If you want consistant mind hits its the way to go though. Actualy won a duel today with it because we were both buffed. Between him killing his mind and me picking away at it i got the mind incap : )
