counterattack doesn't do anything at ALL? wow, guess I've been living in a hole...

rifleman..... 60 ranged defense and 40 melee defense


carbineer....25 ranged defense..... yeah that's it

yea the ranged/melee is a little lacking, but counterattack in itself is inherently better than block and dodge. why? counterattack makes the next basic attack (not special) unblockable (tested), and if you counterattack immediately before or after a KD, you instantly stand with no chance of falling down again even when dizzied (also tested.)

I, tho, have +200 counterattack mods, so i do counterattack quite frequently.

Anyone who has managed to master carbineer knows that Counterattack is a joke, its rarity of success is useless especially in pvp, as well as our lack of melee defence compounds the problem.


The good news is that publish 7 is addressing the defence mod stacking issue in the game that has been limiting our ability to hit players in PVP kudos for that. But Carbineer needs so much fixed its not even funny.


Yes Charge shot needed to be fixed, (flame away gang) but not before they had addressed our 13 broken specials, Ill admit, it was a good crutch to rely on since it was the only thing that allowed us to keep melee classes at bay.


But lets get back on topic


Half our problem is broken specials (everything from states not working to damage) but the other half is our defence issues.


Every carbineer knows that counterinsurgency is our weakest skill tree simply because the defence isnt worth the skill points, (heck only reason I have it is for master Carbineer title)


I'm not talking about making counterattack some uber deathblow attack, just simply the same thing but with at least more regularity sheesh +105 to counterattack you would think it would do something.

Well i think you missions some important mods!


We get 15 knockdown defence and 25 inimidate defence plus 25 range defence!


What carabiners need to be viable in combat, is 45 knockdown defence 50 intimidate defence and 40 stun defence plus 25 in range defence.


For those who think intimidate defence suck, i simply say , be intimidated in pvp( you lose someyour defences andattack for less).


If we get this we not have best defences in pvp, but enough to make viable class in pvp

Problem solved ! Master Pistoleer + Master Carbineer + Riffleman 4404 + Master Marksman. Sure, it eats up all of your SP's but its funny as hell

thats going to be fixed next patch...no more stacking

Actually, there will be a defense hardcap, so you can still get defenses from other professions, just not to the extent you can now (ie, 150 ranged/melee defense).

The reason why carbineers have poor "front end" defense mods (ranged and mellee defense) is because counter attack is SUPPOSED to "counter attack" dealing an "unblockable counter attack" to your enemies. This means, if counter attack worked correctly, ever time you make your counter attack check you would be damageing your enemies. Thus you would be doing significant additional damage to anyone who was attacking you, but in order for that to happen they need to hit you, hence the low ranged and melee defense, and the high counter attack chance.


Counter attack is however broken and does not do any additional damage, it works like dodge.
Hopefully they will fix it in the next publish...

I had no idea how bad carbineer was until I got it from a holo. You guys need MAJOR love from the devs. Maybe once the master box opens... a soft song starts playing, your gun begins to glow and Obi-Wan's voice says "Now thou shalt kick major @ss my son".... but so far... its awful.
