Hi,
Some friends and I have done some dueling and watching the various Combat Channel information and comparing it with the floating damages over each others heads...and things just don't seem to match up - we all have Ranged Damaged Mitigation and 1 and 2 and we aren't seeing an appropriate reduction between the fired damage and final damage.
If it does work...what the hell are we missing...

I'm not quite sure when the calculation is implimented. Meaning, I'm not sure if they already did the mitigation calculation before the combat spam (raw damage) or after the combat spam, and before the floaty (real damage).
Combat spam is a liar! The damage that it says you are taking is not the actual damage that you are taking. I havn't done tests with that... so you'll have to find out from someone else.
What Damage Mitigation does, is reduce the range of damage that is shooting at you.
Damage Mitigation 1: 20% Range Reduction
Damage Mitigation 2: 40% Range Reduction
Damage Mitigation 3: 60% Range Reduction
The range of the damage that is shooting at you is determined from the weapon you are being shot with.
Elite Carbine (w/ stock): 147-228.
The damage will hit anywhere between 147 and 228. The range is the gap in between the two numbers, the field in which it can hit.
Range=Max-min
So in this case, the range would be 71. At Damage Mitigation 2, that is reduced by 40%, so you multiply by 60% to get what the new range is.
71x0.6=42.
The new range is 42. So it is actually decreasing the maximum damage that you can do, and the elite will now be hitting someone with RDGM2 for: 147-189. You add the new range to the minimum to get the new max.
If this was confusing, it was actually a quite simplified version. There are many factors that deal with then end result of damage you are taking (Special modifiers, armor, ect), but that's how Ranged Damage Mitigation works. If I wasn't clear, sorry, lol, tried my best. I'm sure others will post to help you out as well.

I'm pretty sure the combat spam is the base damage after mitigation, but before other defense modifiers are applied (resists, armor, ect..)

Thanks guys, that does help. I guess my friends and I will have to do more dueling to check that out and verify. But that description is defferent slightly than the math we were doing. If we figure it out, we'll let you know.

also remember that all attacks are multiplied by x1.5, from the outset, so it makes it harder to look at a weapons numbers, and figure out anything.
