Thread: My ideas for a master carbineer special

Every elite or hybrid combat profession has powerful special(s) attacks at their master box. The master box should represent the "pinnacle" of the profession and the specials entailed from the box should portray the whole purpose of the profession.


Riflemen have an extremely powerful area shot.

Pistoleers had an AE knockdown that was king at one point, but their specials need to be fixed again.

Bounty hunters have acarbine stun/dizzy/blind, pistolscatter shot, and LLC cone shot.

Commandos have 2nd tier cone attacks.

TKA's have hit 3: high damage + blind

Swordsmen have hit 3: high damage + dizzy

Pikemen have hit 3: high damage + posture down

Fencers have hit 3: high damage + blind

Jedi have flurry attacks: powerful AoE attacks


Carbineers have... nothing. So here are my ideasfor a master carbineer specialand my personal comments in italics:

Eviscerating Volley - Cone area of effect shot with high damage and has a chance to intimidate, stun, and blindall targets caught within the cone. Great special for crippling an oncoming onslaught. Carbineers take damage rapidly in PvP due to lack of ranged defense, so these state changes can greatly reduce the damage output of their enemies.


Disintegrating Blast - Single target, high damage shot that burns the target'slegs (action fire), bleeds them (action bleed), and and has a chance of lowering their posture, as well. Gives people a reason to fear dying to their action bar. Would also force people to stop skimping on the leg and boot armor pieces and not just focus on the helmet/chest.


Carbine MeleeDefense- Attacks single target within 6 meter range with the carbine physically dealing a high amount of damage and also has a chance of knocking down the target and stunning them as well. Carbineers need a good close range defense option. Pistoleers have pistol whip, and riflemen don't really need anything because their accuracy is high enough they don't really miss at point blank anyway. This could give carbineers a chance against melee types.



Immobilizing Salvo - Cone area of effect shot with high damage that attempts to knock down all targets affected, as well as attempting to dizzy and blind them as well. Carbines are supposed to be kings of crowd control and posture changes, this could help solidify that.

I like the Eviscerating Volley and the Disintegrating Blast


we need a high damage special at master that can compare to the master skills of the other classes... we have plenty of state-inducing specials, although what I'd REALLY like to see is something that SLOWS enemy movement by half or more with a high damage multiplier (cone or not, it doesn't matter)

i suggested in nova's master special request, and what i think is the best idea so far but that might be biased, a high dmg aoe delay shot with chance to blindand naming it /coveringfire. delay meaning slows enemy or forces them to stop movement all together. i added the blind in there because the purpose of covering fire in real life is to decrease an enemy's ability to attack you or your team and cutting their accuracy by half with blindis the best state change to simulate that.

i think adding a ranged intimidate would be overpowering...we have enough quality states we apply...sure it'd be nice, but doesn't fall in balance to me.


putting an action fire AND bleed AND posture(down) into an AE shot would also be overpowering, sorry.


personally, i like the melee KD...but i'd take it one step further and make it a RADIUS attack...of which i don't think the game has any right now...but a move that does KD in a full 360 degree radius for...6m? that'd be very helpful since whenever targets attack you (npc's/creatures), they always seperate out so our AE attacks rarely hit more than one, much less all of them...it's a pain trying to kite them into a cone just so you can get them off of you. a low damage radius KD would be fun.


but personally i think we need chargeshot2 moved to master and some added defense. (moving charge2 so that masters have a distinctive special AND helps quiet nerf cries 'bout AE KD.
