I must say of all the proffessions ive played and mastered,Carbineer by far,is the least fun ive had at a combat proffesion.I'm 4-2-1-3 atm and feel like i'm gonna die everytime I take a mission.Compared to fencer, pistoleer, commando, and BH,Carbineer is sooooo weak.At this point of pistoleer i was finishing missions twice as fast and felt like i was in control of the situation at all times. From what i can see Carbine accuracy is my main complaint.Forget the broken specials,we cant hit with enough accuracy to compete with any of the other marksman tree proffesions.I will let out a big cheer when i'm finished with this poorly thought out proffesion( sorry hard working DEVS,but you dropped the ball on this one)and can start Rifle.

earlier today, I wanted to see how my skills in carbine progressed through my trying to master it. Before I go into the actual story, I should give some background info:
Carbine: 4/0/1/2
Carbine Weapon: Laser, high ham costs (go figure), about 363 max damage (sliced).
Armor: Ubese, sliced for ecumb.
Ok, what did I do. First, I took out my wookie (old character), who has absolutely no skills left at all for combat and unequipped the bowcaster (joke of a weapon). I then took out my carbineer, and decided to see how well I can cause damage on my wookie. Ok, I started a duel, was about 30m away. Boom, charge shot 1 for knockdown, then a few burst shots and scatter shots.
After about 5-6 seconds of this I looked at my HAM to see it was empty. I then looked at my wookie to see it still about 1/2 full of health, 3/4th action, and almost total mind.
I decided to post this because it's kinda funny. The HAM costs to use specials is so crazy, it's actually kinda funny. In the end, if I brought my wookie within punching range, my wookie would have won. My wookie, with absolutely no combat skills (not even novice brawler or marksman) would have won. Kinda curious why the devs insist on keeping HAM costs so incredibly crazy that no carbineer can win in a duel against even the most weak of enemies.
strange, *shrug*. This isn't a complaint about carbines, just about the HAM costs. I started out with carbine for the few few months of the game, then decided to go TKM, then dropped TKA because everyone and their friends and parents and family and bosses and everyone in their city/country/world are now TKAs. I got sick of everyone being a certain class, so I moved back to carbine. I just wish the HAM costs were a little lower.

Moun, Brandy, Dancer buffs...
Blue Milk for mind healing (till publish 8, anyway)...
Neither of you should really be having these problems.
two shots of 49 filling 421 brandy and you shouldn't be scared of anything. Even if your mind is getting a bit low, stop spaming specials and let it recover a bit. with buffs to your focus and willpower you'll regen your mind as you fight.
I'm a zabrak, so maybe i'm speaking out of line here, but i honestly have no problem dealing with mind depletion as a carbineer when i use specials conservatively and use mind buffing items.
Carbineer isn't a spaming profession. It's obvious that SoE has designed this to be the case. I'd suggest tuning your use of specials a bit or employing the effects of the above items to help you with special cost and mind regen.

I used to feel like this too. Once I mastered Carb though, and stayed within range (point blank = quick death), I found that I don't miss much at all anymore...

HTH,
This is the only profession that I played that have this extreme of HAM costs. Lets look at some others:
Pistoleer - I shoot a special, my HAM goes down maybe 1/16th or so.
Commando - I use my flame thrower, use flame, my ham does not drop at all
TKA - I spammed unarmed hit 2 until the 'cows came home', and had to only heal myself while being beat up and using the specials for like 20 seconds...that's without armor.
My point is that I shouldn't have to take drugs, food, and begging dancers to buff me before any of this. Also, mastering medic shouldn't a prereq.
Every other profession has specials that don't kill a person...the HAM costs for carbine are simply way too much.

You shouldn't, but then again are you fighting a red or a white con?
I'm a trandoshan with 500 base mind and horrible secondarys. With brandy and doc buffs alone, a muon in emergency, I can spam my carbine, or my pike moves essentially non stop. Save for a rest to finish off all mobs that run after my AoE's I just sit there and pickthem off with auto attack and begin the spamming the moment it drops.
I spam all my moves however with an elite or e11 only. The laser isn't worth using imo under most circumstances.
