Thread: The everlasting thought: Should I take up Pistoleer?

Alright, I'm a 2-4-1-2 carbineer, soon to be 3-4-1-3, and a novice pistoleer 0 0 0 0. My question for everyone is: Should I take up Pistoleer and drop carbineer? I wanted to be a carbineer before the game started, so I am one. However, pistoleers deal out nearly the same amount or slightly less damage per shot, but at a much higher damage-per-second thanks to their amazing speed. They also have melee defenses that will supposedly be fixed.

I'm tired of having to heal myself constantly after firing only two to four shots. I try to use burstshot as much as possible on MOBs to keep my HAM slighty higher, as with my strength and quickness decently high it only costs me around 87 per shot, but it's tremendously higher than a pistoleer. I have a friend who is a Master Gunfighter, he thinks 70 per shot is a lot haha.

My point is, should I even continue on the path? If I completely drop it I'll do it after this next large patch just to make sure this patch doesn't bring any amazing fixes, I'll be ticked off.

I'm tired of hoping for good shots in PVP and/or hunting. It's embarassing to have people think carbineer is good after a few good shots of say, 2200 damage each, and then hit for 170 with the same move thanks to laser carbine's low minimum damage. The elite is broken, probably over half our moves are broken, our speed is poor and the guns suck.

I've only stayed this long hoping for fixes. Should I move on?

I too have struggled over this decision. Of course I went to the darkside andswitched from carbines topistols because as an aspiring Master CH I figured it would help support my pet better (health bleeds as apposed to action bleeds). Plus I was sick of the HAM costs and the inability to hit anything. However, there are a few things that I miss about the carbine profession and I have beenanxiously awaiting the monthly update in hopes that carbineers get some attention so that I can switch back.I am finding now that suppression fire is useless and doesn't lower posture nearly as much as actionshot 1 did. This is a problem for me since I kind of need a better method of getting away from the mob that aggros on me. The problem with pistols is the lack of knockdowns and crowd control specials, I think if thecarbine specials were working asthey were intended then you would see a bunch of people flock to carbines. That is what I am currently awaiting.

The one thing that is nice aboutpistols, other than the speed, is the HAM costs are reallylow so I am not healing myself nearly as much as I waswhen I was a carbineer. I really want to switch back to carbines but there are just too many problems with the class right now.

hmm - I was master pistoleer and went to mastercarabineer - much more fun - pistoleer has pure damage and pistol whip and that's about it , carabineer has 3 posture changes - area of effects , ranged KD, armor piercing 2, blind/stun, if you just wanna hit the same button - stopping shot again and again -

sure go pistoleer - I realized pistoleer wasn't for me when I went krayt hunting - even with DX2 pistol which is suposed to have AP 1 you still do like 20-30 damage (hehe at 30k HAM guess how many times you have to hit ) - I went in close- tried to pistol whip the krayt(a melee KD)and it killed me in 1 hit - on the other hand pistoleer has much more damage types (including stun) so you're always likely to have the gun that has the vulnerability of the monster.

Heheh - you think pistoleer is all that better than carabine ??? - what is better is the pistoleer combo with another profession - like pistoleer and bounty hunter or pistoleer and smuggler - pure pistoleer is less fun than pure carabineer

Anyway if you're going pure profession (not enough skill points for combo ) go rifle - at master they shoot every second or so for about 3-5k damage - now that's a machine gunner if I ever saw 1

Wow your post is pulling me further back to the world of the carbineer! Well said!

I thought I read that the speed cap for the rifle is going to be 3 seconds though so you may not enjoy firing a rifle every 1 second for long.

Oh, and having an AR2 weapon makes a HUGE difference for certain.
