Thread: Carbineer Specials vs Bounty Hunter carbine branch specials

Like the title says: "Carbineer Specials vs Bounty Hunter carbine branch specials"


Wich one has the best? Im planning on having both branches as much as possible. Anyone know if the BH Carbine specials are better? Or if there is some good Carbineer/BH combo of carbine specials? All Info will be preciated!

BH has Fire KD, which dizzy and KD.


Other than that, I only use Carbineer specials.

I used to be a BH but now Im master Carbineer with no BH skills.


Fire KD is a weak shot. Doesnt always set target on fire and RARELY knockdowns an opponent. Damage isnt that good either. Underhand shot is a more consistant KD shot but not as good as Carbineer Chargeshot1.


Main positive about the BH carbine tree is the speed bonus u get. Their Confusion shot is no big deal either as it doesnt consistantly dizzy the target.


In PvP, I much prefer Master Carbineer over BH. Only thing I miss about BH is the LLC because you could do 4-6k damage on creatures and it had a really good cone shot for mobs. The LLC was weak in PvP.


If you have extra skill points go up the carb tree on BH but separate Carbineer is much better IMO.

In my experience...


Underhand shot is useless without a dizzy to back it up. Fire knockdown is a bit more effective, but still requires a stronger dizzy effect to keep the target down for more than a second. That is where confusion shot and spray shot come it. Hitting a target with one of these puts a dizzy on them that actually sticks for more than a couple of seconds. Basically for an effective knockdown a BH needs to use confusion/spray -> fire KD -> confusion/spray.


So essentially the BH has two carbine specials, a KD and a dizzy, with a strong and weak version of each. As someone who had charge shot for a while, it's a more effective knockdown overall. If you're curious, the reason I dropped it was that it wasn't that much better than what I had as a MBH, and skill points are at a premium for me.


For raw damage burst shot 2 and crippling shot still outdo spray shot, our most damaging carbine special, but of course spray shot has a dizzy, stun, andblind effect so it's really not an apples to apples comparison. BH's have no AoE carbine attack, unless you count point blank area 1 from marksman. We also have no carbine bleeds or target HAM pool special except for what we get in marksman. We are however faster than a master carbineer (whichto me is a clear sign that there needs to be some speed added to the carbineer tree) and are hyperaccurate at masterwith +120 accuracy.


While I'm here, what the damage multiplier on burst shot 2?

Well, I've beena Master Bount Hunter, and going Carbineer now, so i figure I can answer this, at least on the BH side, I'll leave the Carbineer side to someone that knows a bit more about it.


Bounty Hunters Carbine line does basically no damage. It's only uses are the state changes, which it does pretty well, but at the high HAM cost we're all getting used to.


Basically, in order, for BH...


Underhand Shot (Carbine 1): Hits formedium damage, knocks them down for about a second. This is pretty much useless, but as its the only special move BHs get for a while, get used to using it just for its medium damage.


Fire Knockdown (Carbine 3): Low damage. Knockdown and dizzy. (And NO FIRE, EVER.) This seems to work a lot more often than underhand. It became a staple for me. Although, I still insist that dizzy has no effect on non-humanoids. Leveling the BH Carbine was a chore until i got this move, then I started using a Carbine at all times to start a fight.


Confusion Shot (Carbine 4): Medium damage (high HAM costs though) can cause dizzy and stun. On its own, not too useful, but as a precursor to FKD, it pretty much garauntees a dizzy sticking.


Spray Shot (Master BH): High Damage (costs less than all other Carbine moves Ive seen.) Can cause blind, dizzy and stun. This was by far my favorite shot. It only cost around 75 action (with a 500 quickness), had a low delay, and side effects that minimized their damamge and hitting percentages.


As for a comparison, I think BH Carbine and Carbineer actually use the weapons in different capacities. BH gets a lot more speed, but no really damageing moves, only target controlling ones. So, picking which way to go should really depend on what else you plan on having, and which route seems more useful to you. If you plan on using jsut a Carbine, I would definitly go with Carbineer, since the BH lines work better when you can use all three. (One for state changes, one for targeted damage and one for really high random damage)

I am BH 3/4/0/1 and just have Novice Carbineer. It works excellent for me

As you can see I am lvl 4 Carbine in BH and just picked up Novice Carbineer. I was almost maxxed with my skill points when I seen I had Bh Pistol 1 I just dropped it because it gave me a lame bleed attack. I picked up Novice carbine to add mods to my abilities in carbine plus to pick up Action shot 2 which I can stack with action shot 1 (2 bleeds per enemy) and also picked up Fullauto single 2 I like it so far when used with my knockdowns...

Cabineer specials are the damage dealers.


Bh carbine specials are the state affect shots (KD, Dizzy, Stun, etc.)


They are not really comparable in my opinion, since they both have quite different uses.

Fireknockdown is very nice against players and low -to mid level npcs. I use cripple shot and fireknockdown almost exclusively. I start of with 3 Firekd's and then I move onto spamming cripple for most things this is more than enough to handle them. I use charge shot to handle creature who have to decided to use the force and warp on me. They cheat I cheat....

Im a master commando/ carbineer 4/3/0/3/ smuggler 0/0/4/0and was a BH 0/4/4/4. BH Ive been dueling BHs awhile now, they dont compare to carbineers at all. BHs are weak in my book. I simply /smile/chargeshot1/flamesingle2 and they are dead, no biggy. Well that seems to be everyone lately since Ive gotten carb. I love carbine and aim to master it. Once area KD is fixed, used with flame cone 2 will be a devastating mob combo.


If I were u go carbineer, not BH.
