Thread: I think what it is.... is that we are the ONLY profession that is working as intended.
I ran a few experimental missions today to see how I faired unbuffed, with decent (not great) composite armor, and no pets:
I sure as hell can not solo a Red Con now that chargeshot1 is nerfed - this has always been th edevs intention
If I get extremely luck I can hang with a Yellow (I think I killed 3 of 7)
I'm about 50-50 with white con's today
And the rest is pretty do-able.
This is exactly the way the system should work, and is exactly the way the Devs said it should work.
PROBLEM is we are the only ones it is working for.
Will my weapons suddenly hit for more than 900 points of damage? Will I fire specials faster than once every 3 seconds? Will I hit more than once every 4 times? Will I no longer die from HAM costs?
Unlikely.
This is my 5th major fighting profession and it is far and away the ONLY one I've encountered that is literally crippled. (admittedly I havent tried Pikeman yet) - so unless you that one last box does the trick, I'm afraid our experiences do not match up..... nor do the experiences of the other users I've been hearing from on these boards.
to drag the other combat professions to this level though.....they'd kick and scream the whole way. TK especially. can you imagine the reaction they'd get if they made unarmed/TK how it should be?
TK should be able to hit FAST and make it really hard for ranged to hit back, but each hit should do minimal damage that just builds up. as they are right now, they do everything i mentioned, yet do just as much or more damage than a rifleman

I think you misunderstood. He's not griping. He's pointing out the distinct possibility that our combat class is actually a challenge, and that maybe that's the way its supposed to be. In addition, he points out the Charging Shot nerf that just took place, and how it has affected the class. Since you gave it up, maybe you're not too familiar with how different the class can be now.
And I can't help but agree with him completely, as a Master Carbineer. I think the devs wanted to make it so that you couldn't spam special after special, which is kind of what our class is about. Now if they would just do something about the Doctor buffs being a little too potent...
Charge Shot did not get nerfed. It was a bug that got fixed.
Or did you think that having them graphically fall when it gives you the message "Your attack has failed to knock down the target" was supposed to happen? ![]()

The Red Con I tried were Rancors. Since then I've also been bullied by Tusken captains and Warlords. Being unable to keep them down and at a distance, they were quickly upon me and my high quality Laser Carb (base stats among the best on server - unenhanced) and Nym's Slugthrower simply can not dish out more damage than I am receiving. My crip shots on rancors averaged around 1100k (as high as 1600 as low as 400) and I get them off every 2 sec missing at variable rates. Throw in a wildshot/chargeshot to try to stun, KD. Doesnt matter, at some point, even with kiting, that thing is on me and is doing more damage than I can fend off.
And this says nothing to the fact that generally Rancors do not hang out by themselves, nor do sandpeople.
Fact is, the Rancor is a Red Con and if you have read anything from the devs regarding this con system, that is EXACTLY the way its supposed to be. We seem to be in-line with the Con System.
Its possible that a Carbineer/Fencer is NOT in line with the con-system... that was never my point.
