Thread: Publish 6 Update (NEW)

After today's patch and verifying the issues in game, I posted 2 threads in the developer forum questioning what is going on and if/when fixes can be introduced. The Developer actually in charge of these issues responded to both threads which I must admit is great as he posts only a few times all week if at all. I have both good news,bad news and then more good news. The good news is the Developer acknowledges all of these issues do exist andhe has actually fixed (!!!) a majority of our issues! The bad news is that he fixed themtoo close to the Publish 6 cutoff date for themto make it into this publish. However, all of these changes are ready to go for Publish 7!!! This means they should be showing up on the Test Center in the next few weeks.


Some concrete info:


  • /chargeshot1 is now working correctly

  • /chargeshot2 is not working but the Dev thought it was. He is looking into this more. I think a hotfix is unlikely but who knows.

  • Bleeds were heavily changed. Actionshot1 and 2 no longer stack.

  • Actual bleed damage is 1/10th of what it was.

  • Bleeds do real damage on the initial strike BUT it is random pool. This is a bug as it is supposed to be hitting just action. This may be fixed as a hotfix. The damage on the initial strike was to compensate for the lowering of the bleed.

  • The damageon bleeds is a work in progess. It may be increased. It was drastically lowered because of exploits to epic enounterswhere people would bleed a target then hop on aspeeder and kite.

  • The AoE wierdness of actionshot2 is fixed for Publish 7 (whether that means full function AoE or it is now single target I do not know yet).

  • A word versionof the Status of the Specials sticky thread has been in this Devs hands for a couple of weeks now. When this Dev says a majority of our issues are fixed, I think he is refering to this list. I think we can expect some good fixes in the next publish!

well, if that is the case, the developers should have left the chargeshot changes until publish 7 as well. I still am very unhappy.

And to all you dumbasses who one-starred nova, **edit** you! He had no idea that this was going to happen, and now he's trying to get some good done out of it. We're getting fixed a publish ahead of schedule (majority of other combat profs have to wait for publish #8)

I say we blame the developers for poor communication instead of bashing nova, for all he (and we) knew chargeshot1 was "being evaluated in the combat revamp".

/Cheer!! I think that what most of us have been asking, Balance > Broken Class, that didn't happen today. I'm glad it seems that our voices are being heard, Keep it up Nova!! GJ /rawr!!!

/bump ... I have to agree if it wasn't for the fact I was a master rifleman, I would have ZERO functionality as a Carbineer now. Any chance something can be done sooner? Nothing is appealing to this class now at all, except frustration, and some slim hope we are going to be fixed. I amazed that most of us are holding on for dear life that something will be done. However, most of us, are pretty hosed now, zero solo'ability-unless buffed, and no real function for a group except as extra damage-minium ifat that, and PvP we are easy farm for FP's. Nova is there anything that we can do to help get this point/cry for help heard, I should say responded to asap for in game play. I happy to see that changes are on the way, but the blow we took today is bad mojo.

  • Errr, the latter would make it the same as /actionShot1. How can there be any doubt about this?

    /actionShot1, /actionShot2 and /legShot3 are now all basically the same. Our list of broken specials is no longer valid as far as these specials go, bleed and stacking changes have made them redundant, that's no news as far as carbineer specials go though. By the time publish 7 hits, nobody will be around to even care.

    Smart guy. It would have taken him 2minutes of testing to figure out that it still doesn't work.

    Sorry about that, Nova. It's just that today is... such a downer. I have been a carbineer from day one. I've defended the profession and advocated for it. I've whined as loudly and as emphatically as anyone at each successive publish as we've been nerfed and nerfed and nerfed again. But after six publishes, seven months, and pretty much nothing positive having come the way of my beloved carbineer profession, I think I'm throwing in the towel and dropping carbineer. (stinks because I've finallyaccumulated +20 in speed tapes)

    couldn't they just add the fixed stuff as a hotfix patch sometime maybe tomorrow! instead of making us wait till publish7 which by my estimates could be 3 months away. We might lose a good majority of people playing in this profession if it's gonna take that long.
