Heya ladies and gents,

Just curious for a lil cross forum discussion on looted weapon dots.

I'm a Master Pike, 3224 Carbineer. Having shared in the deficencys of both classes, I find myself looking at more and more FOTM pikemen with their looted pikes. Having just recently become effective in PvP due to my accuisition of a few nice sticks and my ChargeShot 2/FAA2 combos, I see more and more nerf cries about our lances.

The discussion which brought me here I won't link, but feel free to mosey on over. Linkage tends to turn into flamage, and we can and will get violent

My question is...

Are we not focused on all the other DoT weapons that are abundant in the game? The number of times I've been CM'd, or hit with a nasty posion head shot combo, or even a nice action shot off an action posion carb, would leave me to belive that...

A: All weapon DoTs are overpowered.

or

B: DoT's are all too often the only thing which can kill some of the best, ie a lesson in humility.

I'm from the mind set personally of B. If I'm in a fight, and I'm one on one with my enemy for more than 5 minutes...I'm debating pulling my armor off and sitting down. Why in the world should one of us still be alive after 5 minutes of pounding on eachother?

Now, my primary being Master Pike...I have horrible defences, 2 basic damage types which are widely resisted (a third which is the rarest weapon in the game), and my token weapon is destroyed by mitigation. But yet, people want to remove the only thing which has made me more than a meat sheild...the one on the battlefeild that all the newbs target because they know they can kill me.

I liken the situation to a nerf cry I receive one day when I dizzy/KD'd someone with my carb in two shots from about 50m, then instantly closed the gap with my pike out. My target, after DB immediately claimed I exploited, in some manner using a lunge with my polearm from 50meters out. Granted after he looked at his combat log, and I pulled my prof tags up for him he conceided.

So is this just a cry from the uneducated? Or is it just another balance problem?

Weapon DoT's are worthless unless Legendary......at least as far as a Carbineer is concerned.

CM are a totally seperate discussion

And for those Cry Baby Nerf Herder types.....they cry Nerf whenever they lose.....

This discussion would get more interest in the GCW forum. You might want to try posting this message there.

I am also Pike/Carb so I know all about DOT weapons. I think they are somewhat of a balance issue, I wouldnt say that they are overpowered, but they give Pikeman some hope in PvP. Without DOT weapons pikeman cant do any damage. Like you said, all pikeman weapons are destroyed by mitigation, and all damage types are easily resisted. Also I dont think Ive ever seen a crafted pike that was enhanced in any way. Not sure if you are able to enhance polearms with anything. So DOT weapons give us Pikeman some hope in PvP, but I think its a poor solution to us not being able to do anysort of ligit damage.

I don't pay too much attention to ANY professions /cry about PvP weakness.......can't do Jack as a Carbineer but get your armor beat to a pulp, and then CLONE....

I got romped in a duel with a pikeman, didn't even damage him since he was a doc. But later on in a big PvP battle I caught him 64m away and got him back. But its true, all a pikeman has are DOTs, nothing more.

On Naritus it is common to see 1000 damage+ LVAs with mind fire DoTs.... Not fun for the rest of us since fire blankets are extremely time-consuming to make. So my sig doesn't confuse anyone I am workin on carbineer

I'd like to hear you say that after I'd used my 1 bleed, 2 poison and 2 fire carbines in a contanst fas2 spam on you. You'd have more states than your ham bar could hold

Akinoor, can you confirm that two of the same types of poisons (eg. two action poisons) stack on a target, if they are fired from the same gun? I know that if you how two different combat medics throwing different sets of poisons, if they both throw an individual action poison C they will not stack, but if one throws an individual C and one throws an area C (or one throws a B), they will stack. Also, if you happen to know a combat medic, do you think you could run a test or two about how the gun poisons interact with combat medic poisons?

For that matter, can you confirm the same with fire weapons?

I'm trying to get a little more information about how gun poison's are treated by the system. Of course you are under no obligation to test this stuff, although it would be appreciated.

Now, where is TAFirehawk... (just kidding of course )

On topic, I think all dot weapons are overpowered in the current system for the same reason that cms are: it forces pvpers to take up Doc thus wasting half your skillpoints. I'd like to see the requirements forcure disease/poison and fire supression moved down to Medic. That way dots would be an interesting part of a battle and not the end of everything as they easily becomes for many today.

Some level of Rock-paper-scissors are maybe required in a game but if cms are the rock and the docs the paper then currently 90% of all casual players are the blunt scissors which can't even cut the paper properly.

By moving cure disease/poison/fire supression down to Medic, then everyone would be able to counterattack it. And everyone who has doc and pvp a lot knows that being able to counterattack dots and states doesn't mean they're not dangerous, it only adds the possibility to use tactics instead of being a sitting duck.

No I don't think they stack. I think you're correct.

But I have action fire/poison, health poison and mind fire so they all work at the same time.

Unless they are exceptional or legendary they won't bother me with very nice buffs to all 9 pools and plenty of uber food

Oh and a little Spice backup too......
