Thread: MBH needs an insight to carbineer

Guys i'm an mbh who is bored stiff. I have to say ranged combat is my favourite. I'm tempted to go carbineer....just for something to do as being a mbh i'm stood around starports looking lost!


So can you guys tell me what its like to be a carbineer? Are they still ham killers for you? Do you have "content" besides the grind?

No, no content to carbineer just the grinding. Yes Carbines are still HAM killers but it doesn't matter you should be hunting buffed anyways. Oh yeah it's fun having some carbineer stuff it helps a lot in pve.

I fought mid level Nightsisters last night who were 100% resistant to every damage type Carbineers have.

One of the things I am going to push hardest for in the coming combat balance is to get us either new carbines or get a current carbine changed to be a 4th damage type. I favor electricity myself.

I'd also love to see the EE3 given AP1. I'd love to use the EE3 more, It's arguably our coolest looking gun, but almost every enemy I encounter either has identical heat and acid resists or very high heat resists, I rarely find stuff vuln to heat.


I wouldn't mind seeing the elite do AP2 so that we could have a competitive PvP weapon either.

If you're on Dantooine, the EE3 is your new bestest buddy. Danteri, Mokks, Jantas and Kungas are either vulnerable or VERY low resists to the EE3. AP0 or not, even though its firing half as fast as my .9 speed Enhanced E11, its killing them MUCH faster when comparing them on ScatterShot2 or FullAutoSingle2.


As for a new damage type, Electricity is nice, under one HUGE condition. IF YOU CHANGE A DAMAGE TYPE ON A CARBINE, CHANGE ONE OF OUR ENERGY GUNS TO SOMETHING ELSE!! DO NOT ROB US OF HEAT OR ACID TO TO DO GIVE US A NEW DAMAGE TYPE!!

Just to be clear, I also like the idea of a new type of damage gun. However, as TH said earlier, the devs have no intention of giving us a new gun. I read this to mean that there would be no significant changes to guns at all (I know I'm reading into the statement, but that's how I read it).




Like I said in a different post, I think a worthwhile question to ask the devs (in two week, drat... ) would be *why* we are not getting any new guns (and presumably damage types), just to make sure we aren't just wasting our times continually requesting for them.




My think the dev's opinion of carbineer is something to the effect of "carbineers are supposed to be state special effect attackers, and as such giving more damage types, which wouldincrease the amount of raw damage they can do, is outside the scope of their class." (This doesn't explain why pistoleers, presumably the defensive ranged class, keeps getting new and better guns and duel wield though...)




Keep in mind before leaning too heavily onto the devs is to find out what opinions and problems we are up against...

Yes, as of right now we are robbed of having one or two less damage types then the other ranged classes.


What i dont understand is, why does the Nyms SLUGTHROWER carbine do acide damage?


that makes no sense, slug throwers in star wars are guns like we have today, they shoot metal bullets, and seeing as the gun looks like the machine guns used in the dirty dozen, i cannot for the life of me understand why this gun doesnt do kinetic damage.


I think switching this to kinetic is a fair start...


another thing id like to see is the elite carbine get a distinct difference from the laser carbine, only difference now is look, and if you want to consistent damage more often because the LC minimum damage is so low.


Another thing id like to see is a cert for a bounty hunter only carbine seeing as they get thier own pistol, the LLC, commandos get their own pistol, their own flamethrower, thier own grenades and multiple rocket launchers...



It makes no sense why bounty hunters dont have thier own carbine.

Heh then why is it that we can't stick states on anything higher than an enraged rancor? I'd be perfectly happy if I could contribute by stunning, blinding, dizzying, posturing, and KDing high level targets. The reason people want more damage types is because most of the time, once you're done with the grind and exploring the high level content, all you can do is damage.


I'm not against pistoleers getting dual weilding, they need it badly as they are one of the most broken and outdamaged professions. ...but where does that leave us after they have dual weild? Riflemen will still be the kings of damage, pistoleers will still be the kings of defense and will have a much improved damage output with all of their new guns and their dual weilding.


I second your idea for our next question. We only have 9 carbines and 3 damage types, why is it that we haven't seen any new guns, when riflemen (13 rifles, 5 damage types) and pistoleers (14 pistols, 5 damage types), who had more guns and damage types than us already each got 2 more?
