Thread: Answer to our question

Thunderheart posted the answers to this weeks 19 questions. You can read them all here:

Our question isn't actually listed. Thunderheart was in a rush to get them out this week (we were lucky to get them this week) and accidently left in a comment to me instead of the question. Nevertheless, the question is easy to figure out. We asked initially what stun, dizzy and blind actually do. Thunderheart took the extra step and defined what every state in the game does. I think TH liked our questionand that is why we got so much nice info. He does not seem to like the confrontational questions and you can see that in the answers (or lack of answers) to some questions. There is some new info to me on this list so I think the question turned out to be a very good one and not only benefited us but the whole SWG community.

In short, here is what all the states do:

Aim: Gives an attack bonus, it can be used up to three times to get the maximum bonus and lasts for three shots.

Berserk: Increases attack modifiers and increases unarmed damage.

Blind: Lowers attack and defense modifiers.

Center of Being: Adds to the chance that block, dodge or counter-attack will go off.

Conceal: Allows a rifleman to attack a creature without it attacking them. A higher skill modifier improves this chance.

Dizzy: Adds the chance for the character to fall back down when attempting to stand.

Intimidate: Greatly lowers damage potential and slightly lowers defense modifiers.

Rally: Increases attack and defense modifiers.

Stun: Lowers attack modifier and slightly reduces damage potential.

Take Cover: provides a bonus to defense.

Tumbling: Increases defense modifiers.

Warcry: Adds a delay to the targets action queue.

Congratulations on getting one of the best questions and answers in the 19 questions session, Nova. Off hand, the only other very useful answer I can think of is the droid engineer's "What does a crafting module in a droid do" (although I'm sure I'm forgetting some). Very useful information for everybody to know.

Aim can stack up to 3 times and lasts for 3 attacks... interesting. But it only lists the first aim bonus to the + attribute above the mob's head. I wonder if that is a bug...

I think it means that if you use /aim 3 times in a row, your next 3 shots will all get the aim bonus.

Nice to see these answers but they really don't say much more than we already knew.....

BUT I don't think we expected any more than this......

Still a nice job by Nova and TH here

The description of stun doesn't mention increasing the chance of states sticking, nor lowering defence mods (which may indirectly help with states). Was this missing from the description or is it an urban myth?

Sorry to say so but that "info" is far from nice... taken directly from the design docs I guess and we all know that such info seldom holds up in-game.

One example, stun.

"Lowers attack modifier and slightly reduces damage potential."

I know for a fact that whenever I stick a stun on an NPC, I do more damage per hit.

Oh well, still got a Ranger answer... no wait... d'oh.

The description of Stun is wrong. I've thoroughly used this in PvP and it reduces all defenses SIGNIFICANTLY.

Guess devs don't play their game...

No it's not, stun reduces damage too. I grinded a lot lately melee professions and when I would get stunned by certain creatures, my damage was cutin half, and further reduced when I would be intimidated.

I know Intimidate dropped my damage potential to practically nothing. We're talking a 75% decrease at least.Stun did make attacks hit harder, and I personally believe it makes my attacks slower.

As for the rest, there was a bit of information there that I didn't know, and at least its finally in white on black exactly what these states do.

As for the ones above and beyond those we asked for, it was icing on the cake. Especially knowing that Aim affects more than one shot and whatnot.

On /aim, does that mean if you use it 1 time, you get asmall bonus over the next 3 shots and it's possible to increase that bonus by doing it (at most) 2 additional times, which will carry over the next 3 shots.

OR

Is the aim bonus good for 1 shot, and you can improve that bonus to the next 3 shots by doing it 2 more times in a row (seems like you might as well just /aim when you are certain you want it)

OR you gain the max bonus on the first shot, then it lowers over the next two?

the first case seems to be the most beneficial to me, but I just want to be certain that's what is actually happening here.

Not sure why we thought we would get any decent answers to the details of the States.....99% of these "answers" for all professions is a complete waste of time......

SOE is just putting on a show to keep lining their pockets......and the Devs are doing whatever they can to not be the SECOND staff fired.....

I hate to be so negative, but there is little more information here than when you examine a State in-game.....
