Thread: Stock or no stock...

MBH, Carb 0300, Pistol 0020.

I'm trying to figure out if a good sliced stocked carb is better than a good sliced scoped carb. I'm weighing the pro's and con's of increased fire-power vs. high HAM costs vs. speed.

I currently am at 85 speed, I defer to your experience...

It really depends on what you are trying to do, and what you are fighting. I never use stocked carbines because the HAM costs are so high, but I also have only semi-regular access to buffs. Others (such as the person I sold by 80HAW weight carbine to... ouch) swear by damage/speed and ignore everything else.

I would say your best bet would be to try buying one or two of each, and try them out. If they are non-kryat, it should only cost you a few tens of k, less if you resell them later. This would likely give you a better feel for what you want in a gun more than any advice you might get on the forums. Not to mention it is more fun than having the answer handed to you on a silver platter

However, the short answer is: "in general, what TAFirehawk said."

Well if you are an imperial get yourself some form-fitting stocks, if you are a rebel (and have some cash) get yourself some form-fitting stocks. Damage boost, Speed boost, no HAM costs.

Definitely stocked and scoped. That template of yours screams PvP, so you're already fighting buffed. Just get some decent Vagnarian Canape and a crate of Muon goldand keep them on hotkeys forwhen the shooting starts (Your H&A secondaries should be fine, just keep those Mind secondaries boosted)

I'm touch and go on Brandy, once the poison starts flying in PvP, I like to use the Blue Milk after that second or third tick of Acklay venom Mind gunk wipes me clean. Of course, I'm a little spoiled having a guild with a pair of Dancers who can buff pretty much on demand when I need it.

Thanks for the info.

The armorsmiths on my server rarely have scoped and stocked guns available. I've got some of the stuff from all the theme parks, I just have to take the time and hook up with an armorsmith.

I'm a Wookiee so I'm always buffed, brandied, steaked and snow crisped up (accuracy is key when you have no defense).

Thanks again...looks like I'm componant shopping.

Actually, I hope there aren't any Armorsmiths scoping and stocking anything except decent armor layers. j/k

I feel for you as a wookiee, my main character, who's name graces my forum name, used to be a combat toon and a Carbineer. Fighting without armor just got to be too much on a server where 80-90% composite competition was a regular occurance.

I wonder if you can stack a Crispic with a Snow Cake? My wookiee is now a Master Artisan who does a wicked +22 Accuracy/12 minuteCrispic with BE additives.

Look at it this way. When/if the combat revamp occurs and armors drop drastically in defensive value (as evidenced by the "weak" bounty hunter armor, which is considered an epic quest), wookies, who are already used to having weaker/no armor will be prepared for it. Furthermore, aswookies have higher secondaries and more stats overall, presumably the HAM revamp will affect them less. So in fact, the combat revamp will likely be a major powering up of wookies versus other races.

Similarly, with weapon speeds possibly going down for the revamp, carbineers with their +15/+20 speed suits and speed slicedgunswill be better prepared for it thanthe +8 speed riflemen (because who needs any more speed with master rifleman...).

So a wookie/carbineer will possiblybe among the least affected characters, and thus get a major de facto powerup relative to everybody else. Claidheamh-Mor, your time is coming soon...
