Thread: Anyone know the bonus' for shooting while prone and kneeling?

I've been a carbineer for 6 months and I've always gone prone before attacking something, and I stay prone or kneeling until something gets close enough to where I have to start running away.

But my friend was just telling me that it's not worth it to go prone or to kneel, because the bonus' weren't that great. He spends most of the fight running around.

Anyone agree/disagree with my friend? Should I not bother to kneel?

Judge for yourself. Get something to around ideal range of the current weapon you have equipped, note the to hit modifier to the left of thier name... then kneel.. note it again... then go prone.. note it again.

Me, personally.... If it's melee, I stand still till it gets close then I run in tiny circles. If it's ranged, I start running around as I shoot, only stopping after I land CS1 to shoot a Cripling Shot more acuratly once.. other than that, I keep moving.

This tactic is espcially useful when fighting 10-20 NPC rebels at a time, as I wipe out PC Bases.

/stand;

Not looking at my own currently, you may need to insert a pause here and there... and change the special if you prefer. I target my victim, hit the F1 key, drop prone for best possible range mod, fire away... about the time you finish that second burstshot, they are coming at you anyways, which is NOT the time you want to be laying on the ground... macro stands you back up just in time

The only bonus you get with Kneel or Prone is to accuracy, so it depends what level Carbineer you are if it matters or not. At Master I no longer worry about going to Kneel or Prone, but I did it some of the time while leveling.

And sometimes you just have to do things in the game that are fun, no matter if it "helps" or not. FUN is the whole reason we are here

I guess it all depends on how critical landing your shot is.

If you're in a free for all group and it's every man for himself. Then by all means run and shoot all you want.

But if you're in a group of mine and are pulling crowd control along side me (I know our CC abilites have been nerfed to hell...), you'd better at least be taking a knee. Nothing sucks worse then missing that critical actionshot or warningshot that could have saved a groupmate some skin.

If you are hunting solo, I've notice that being prone allows you to get 3 to 4 shots off before the mob realizes where you are. If you are standing, the mob usually charges at you after the first shot.

I've found it helpfull to use /aim then wildshot, then /aim again each time before doing a couple of other high damaging moves ( I would use that time to apply bleeds if they were worth crap anymore) then when the mob finally sees me and charges me, I stand and hit it with a chargshot, then pop it with a couple more high damaging moves.

Many times, youcan finish a mob off before it even gets to you this way, and mind you, I'm quite a ways from master.

the best thing about kneeling/prone is that you get a few shots for free. You can use these shots to apply status effects before you start spamming your damaging shots. I believe each one improves by about 10 to 15 on accuracy.

Yeah Standing, the target attacks you after your first shot, kneeling it attacks after your second shot, and prone it attacks you after your third shot.
