Thread: Pistoleer.. or Carbiner... I'm so confused!

Hi. I'm a rodian doctor (and plan on sticking with doctor), but I cant decide which profession to do, pistoleer or carbineer. I hear carbineers are getting some nice AoE shots and a few fixes, but have heard horror stories about their HAM costs and lack of good weapons. Yet I hear pistols do some nice damage and have good weapons, but I also hear about half their professions not working or something to that extent. I figure I'll be able to buff/heal myself fine, but the descision is still up in the air for me. If anyone could give me some input, that would be great. Thanks.

Myself and guildmate were deuling last night, he is a master gunfighter and I beat him down every time. We had the same buffs(close enough ) and the same armor purchased from the same guildmate, with the exception that my chest plate got an effectivness slice taking the base up to 68% and his got encumb. His republic blaster was the only thing that was doing more than tickling me. But it was no match for my 2.9 speed, 163-263 damage elite carbine and 3.0 speed, 405 damage laser carbine. Gonna make a krayt dh-17 snub with a formfitting stock and name it my wookie killer since my current 2.4 speed, 101-251 damage dh-17 eats up the hams of unarmored opponents. Those numbers are without powerups.

if you're a doctor, why are you worried about ham costs? and the weakest model carbine is equal to an above average pistol.

By Far, Master Pistoleer. Stopping Shot / Fan Shot are two very nice specials and DONT KILL URSELF BEFORE UR ENEMY.

Man...go carbine....serious
I've been carbine since....well 10 months ago...but lost it for 6 months when i holo grind. Of all the combat professions, carbine is the absolute best. It is the most versatile of them all. I GCW alot, so my professions is designed for pvp and GCW action, not PVE.
Pistol seems cool, but its alright....i wouldnt bother unless you got a nice geonosian sonic blasteror a very nice pre nerf scatter or FWG5....One day i will try Pistol again(though i already mastered pistol).
The awesome part about carbine is that you can control the enemy.....pistol cant. Enemy has free reign to run cirlces around you, unless you are smuggler. Even then, you get limited control.
Carbine on the other hand, can make you drop to the ground and stay down at will.....key to winning is controlling the fight, every thing else is candy...
