Thread: Please Nova, tell me the devs will give us a break from HAM costs...
Message Edited by JangusFett on 02-28-2004 01:00 AM
Heh...Im a doc and carbineer. I dident buff myself yet as i was basicly shopping around and meeting people. A friend needed buffs and still had a crappy action leftover. So i was going to db/rez to rebuff. Had my pvp elite on...The one with the 40/40 stock and super + acc advanced scope and the ultra sick hams....Well 1 fas2 shot took 400 health and even more than that in action !!!
I think he laughed himself to death.
heh i was just pointing out just how bad hams could be. I had these weapons made with hams being my least concern.
The only rumors i have heard about ham cost is some odd system that will shrink our ham sizes per shot and the size will have a special regen on it. Sompthing like that anyway. But im not sure about it and cant quote anything on it. Take it as a small hint of a posibility and nothing more. I could be totaly wrong. I could be compleatly right but they changed it again...Consider this as big a disclamer as you want. Dont quote me hehe. But the devs said that the revamp will stop mind from being the end all in pvp. This is a good thing. And the system i just described will not accomplish that. I am just as cureious as all of you. We have a good rep with nova here so you can bet we will know as soon as its out.
heh and nova if there is sompthing you cant talk about you can pm me : ) ill keep it quiet
You can't imagine the simple pleasures of walking out of the front door of your house and not incapping yourself on a pesky bird that decided to agro on you. And the worst part about it was you were out of spices/food buffs and weren't buffed by a doc. Im sorry but looking back I can't help but wonder how in the world I mastered this profession in the first place considering that I had never even heard of buffs till about the fourth or fifth month of gameplay. Im feel even more sorry for this profession because buffs are a requirement and not a choice. Im happy with running missions again unbuffed. Looks like my carbines are going to be collecting dust for a little while longer.
Well congrats on getting the specials fixed.

Before you get mad, you must understand that if I do, I will be swamped with posts looking for info on all kinds of issues. As it is, if you could see my PM you would shudder in fear...However, to address your question, I refer you to TH's Art of Combat post. The combat revamp is taking place in a few waves. There is going to be a whole new HAM system and our special's HAM costs will be rebalanced when this rolls out. Now, here is why I have said nothing on the subject. The Devs have said nothing and as such I have no info. I am being 100% honest. I don't know when it is coming and I don't even have the tinniest idea what the new HAM system will be like. They are being extremely tight lipped on this.In the meantime, I highly recommend using doctor buffs whenever you can. When you cannot, purchase some rychate and breath of heaven from a friendly Chef. Also, be aware that certain specials HAM costs distribute differently than others. For example, burstshot1 uses a balance of health and action to fire whereas crippleshot uses mostly action to fire. In essence, if you are not buffed, stick with burstshot because your HAM costs are coming from 2 pools that regenerate instead of 1 pool that regenerates. And whatever you do, do not use ANY of the fullauto specials unless you are buffed. See the sticky thread called something similar to special modifiers for more info.
Also. Certain carbines have heavier requirements in certain areas of the ham. I liked the ee-3 because of the low mind drain it had that allowed me to get off a few more stims to keep fighting. Downside. High health drain. The DH-17 is your best bet (ironically) as far as ham drain and a good dps. Downside to that one is AP0. The E-11 has decient ham drain (low mind) as well with AP1 but low damage. DXR6 is a little higher on the mind drain but has good damage. Just a little slow. Also full auto single 2 has a good DPS and comes with two helpfull stat changes and isn't too bad on the mind pool. Used that one alot with the DH-17 short carbine for the high speed that is inherent with it.

Well this is what a feard. I remember TH also saying they would try and push the HAM cost system by 6 or 7...here we are coming to 7 and now he is still silent on the issue. This may be an old pessimistic view from being a former MBH, but I fear we are looking at close to Space Expansion for this fix../sigh
