Greetings ladies and gentlemen of the short gun,
For those of you not from Valcyn, I'm Jaye and I just wanted to share some love for this profession. First off, I have a definate love of the Carbine, my first RL gun that I REALLY learned to use was a .30 cal M1 Carbine, I've used AR carbine Variants extensively and even use a Replica Musketoon in CW reinacting (think civil war musket carbine). The love of this style of firearm led me to this profession when I started the game in August, and I never equiped a pistol, rifle, or any other ranged weapon in the game until I decided to stop halfway through pike recently and go pure carbine with Master Carb, BH Carb 3 and Nov Medic. (Had to master marksman, ya know, so had to use a dlt20 and a dl44 for a little while).
For the longest time I was just novice Carb, Master Politican, and Master Architect, and even though I was weak Ihave beenhighly involved in the GCW and PVP for most of my game life. Towards the end of March I gave up my City to explore other areas of the game, specifically, Mastering Carb, and becoming more effective in PVP.
So what's this all about, I just want to say I LOVE the profession, sure it has some significant disadvantages over other classes, and we can hardly buy a /deathblow in group combat, but it's just really a joy to play a profession that requires skill and true mastery of the dynamics of the profession.
Tonight this became even more evident when I fought a series of duels with some FOTM templates such as Master Doc/Master Rifle and some hybrid Fencer/Rifle types. Believe it or not, I was able to even win a few. But it was the examination of the Combat Log after these fights that really hammered home the point to me that I had made the right decision.
When I saw the spam ofmy opponent'ssame special over and over while they went after my mind countered with my combinations of state inducing shots, KD's, Bleeds, and DOT's it emphasized the "thinking man's profession" statements I've seen over and over in this board. While I'm far from UBER and will probably always be suceptible to those FOTM templates out there, I feel that given just a little more time and sticking to some key strategies that my pure carb approach will serve me well.
I'm sitting on over 100 carb attachments and another 100 attachments that will complement my abilities and started assembling new suits of armor to put them in and look forward to the added bonuses they'll provide, I've got 40 tissues and the stocks and scopes to put together some great guns as soon as I can find the right weps to put them together for me, I've got a good action poison carb, bleed carbs, mindfire and mind poison carbs and I'm close to all the things I think will help me become an effective practitioner. I've collected a good selection of the foods I think I'll need and in short, I've got the gear and I've got the gumption, so now I'll be putting it to the test.
So wha's the purpose of this post??? It's simply a thank you to those that have given so much of their time and effort both in game and in the forums to add so much useful information and words of encouragement to me all the months I've lurked in this board, dropping a few posts here and there when I didn't see/couldn't find what I was looking for. I for one appreciate all those that chosen to make this profession their own and not simply hologrinded or dabbled in it.
I salute all of you and hope that I can make some contributions in the future to this board, as well as learn more for those of you that have offered so much in the past and who I'm sure will continue to do so in the future.

It is good to hear your positive feedback and to see what most people miss out on seeing when they view carbineer's. Much of what I see is, "Bah!....why would I try to be a carbineer, when I can be an uber Rifle/CM or Pistoleer/fencer!! Carbineer's suck!!!" I think that us Carbineer's on any server are definately a diffrent breed of player in this game. Most of what we do is strategy of which I enjoy alot when fighting either in pvp or pve, so that I can get just the right specials in at the right time and turn the favors into my direction. I love our abilities and strategies that most peep's over look.
