Thread: Thinking About Carbineer and Would Like Some Input
Well, to give you my perspective, I began the game focused on being a meleer. I made it to novice pikeman and realized that I couldn't do PVP at all. So, Carbine I went. I'm at carbine spec (level 4 of marksman), and I mainly use my laser carb, since the dmg on it is uncomparable.
Pros for me:
No longer have to worry about aggro nearly as much. Warningshot is a beautiful thing.
Damage to target/damage to me is much less as a ranged fighter.
My ActionShot 1 and 2 pack a tremendous wallop when I get the maxes out of them (sometimes one-hit kill whitecons).
I can run and attack at the same time.
Cons for me:
As a Pikeman, I could use Polearm sweep, and effectively take out three female direcats and a direcat (personal experience). That raw, brutal power was amazing. Not being able to take on whole groups at once is saddening.
Other than that, I do not regret making the move to carbineer. Riflemen have expensive guns (friend paid 100k for a T21, since they just came out on my server), pistoleers are going to get nerfed. Carbineers are going to get fixed, and that is what has me happy.
People who say carbine’s sucks just don’t know how to use them. A weapon type doesn’t have to dish out the most damage to be as effective or more effective than the other weapons types.
If you’re going for solo strength go with Pistoler or Rifleman. But if you want a weapon that was intended, and does, work best in groups, Carbine is your choice.
One Carbineer vs. One Pistoler or Rifleman will most likely loose. Five Carbineers vs. Five Pistolers or Riflemen will be victorious. It’s all about the cone attacks.
What about with the upcoming changes? Will it be a better class or worse? Are the knockdown timer nerfs really going to hurt the Carbineer badly?
How do you guys feel about the attention you're getting from your developer at SoE? Is he/she listening to you guys and are they getting good feedback to your correspondent?
Frankly the BH class is absolutley porked. It's in a sad state of dissaray and although I love the idea behind the class in terms of the role play aspect, the cost of the skill points to master it just isn't worth the end result anymore. There's no bang for the buck. So I'm heading in another direction and I'm looking for the honest opinion of you guys. I always loved my carbine and thought I'd ask here what you guys think of your own class.
Thanks for your time.
