Thread: Speed... slicing... Damage vs. Speed?

Anyway here is a bit of info I stumbled upon on how to calculate the true speed of your weapon...
Attack speed formula:
(WeaponSpeed * SpecialDelayMod) - (WeaponSpeed * SpecialDelayMod) * (CarbineSpeed/100)
And if result less than 1.0s it is 1.0 in reality
So lets say you have a 4.0 Laser Carbine and You have Cistol IV in the marksman tree (thats +25 speed)
The forumula would go like this (for normal shots):
(4.0 * 1) - ((4.0 * 1) * 25/100)
This would bring down the 4.0 speed to 3.0 in normal attacks.
An attack must have at least a 1.0 delay so keep that in mind...
Now for an interesting bit... A master Carbineer with BH Carbine tree to max would get +115 speed... this renders the speed part of a weapon totaly useless (since you get max speed every time)... = this is only for the normal attacks, I know some specials have a higher delay and that is why you dont always get 1.0 speed, but with 115 speed you can get everything to 1.0.
Now... is anyone here from Starsider and has a good Damage Laser Carbine around?
And I gotta find a Master Smuggler to have it sliced (for speed hopefully)

That's about right, except that a BH/carbineer can get +135 carbine speed, and the fact that you forgot that the special delay mod is already included in that calculation. So the specials will fire at 1.0 just like normal attacks when the mod is high enough, since the firing delay reduction from speed mods is applied after the special modifier is calculated, not before.

Yeah its true the speed mod is 135... (my calculator is broken
and I can't see some of the numbers)
Yes the specials are included there as well, so basicaly, once you have 100 speed bonus, you can forget about speed and focus on the damage.
