Thread: Looking to make a great carbine
i jsut have a few questions:
1) whats the best carbine for pvp
2) What are the best stocks barrels ect....
Please let me know thanks,,,
Firstly, for damage, Laser Carbine is far and away the best because of higher damage and MEDIUM armor piercing.
Some people like to use carbs with lesser HAM costs to apply the states, but I am not one of them.
RE stocks and barrels, etc, I think that's a problem solely for Weaponsmiths.
RE Krayt tissues, I'm not exactly sure and curious myself. I want one of those 600 dam Lasers.
I know that you need 5 of the same type of tissue to make one, but that's about it.
2.) Barrels, scopes and stocks really vary by server and weaponsmith. I have found two active WS on Tempest that make exceptional carbine components, and can vary each component to focus on speed, damage or HAM costs. I play buffed 90% of the time, and have high speed mods so I tend to focus on components experimented up for high damage, disregarding HAM or speed.
3.) At the moment, any Krayt tissue is good Krayt tissue. With holo grinding at an all time high (Dev #1, "What can we do to hurt the game?" Dev#2 "Let's give away free holocrons!") and the new uber Krayt dragons, tissue has become rarer than ever, with auctions skyrocketing into the tens of millions of credits for a single matched set. I actually know WS on Tempest charging 1.5million credits for a single tissue Krayt DH17.
How do you make a good carbine? This is actually easier than hunting down great Krayt tissues and taking your chances with critical fails. Here's how to get one of the best carbines of any type on your server in just a few days:
1.) Shop every WS you can find on your server. Every WS has different stocked resources and a different 'focus' on what weapons they excel in. Compare the stats for every single carbine type you are interested in from every WS.
2.) Talk to the WS. After you've found the best vendor carbine available, contact the WS that created it. Explain that to him honestly that he currently makes the best of a specific carbine on the server and you wish to buy these by the crate. Verify that he has all the resources he/ she needs to mass produce weapons by the crate, and inquire if there is any resource they need a better quality in. They may have made the weapon you found with several great resources and one 'average' resource. See if you can upgrade the weak resource for them. Plan at this time if you want the WS to focus on speed or damage.
3.) Buy in bulk. The WS is set to create your new guns, but first diplomaticallly work out a price and quantity. I like to buy 10-20 carbines at a time (there is a reason for this). Most WS will give you a slight discount for buying by the crate. Politely insist that the experimentation is redone until great or amazing successes are achieved. You may have to offer to pay extra for this, as it will require several trashed components and the WS valuable time. Value the WS time, and pay for it accordingly. They are helping YOU.
4.) Find a slice. Take your crate of carbines and find a Master Smuggler. Ask different Smugglers how their weapon slices have been over the past few days. Explain that you have 10-20 weapons that need slicing and meet up with the Smuggler of your choice. The reason behind your purchase of multiple weapons comes down to this - evening up the odds of your slices. As they are random (and seem to go in good and bad shifts per smuggler). Slicing multiple weapons will ensure you get that super slice on at least 2 or 3 of your weapons. At this point you'll end up with a gun probably better than most WS Krayt carbines.
5.) Make your money back. Advertise in the trade forums that you have new sliced carbines for sale. Upto this point you may have spent 500k on 20 weapons...make that money back by selling the remaining weapons for 20-30k each (or more if they are really good). I like to give away one or two as gifts to the needy.
I hope that works for you. Good luck.
as for krayt tissue, well the going price for a krayted gun on intrepid is 1million per tissue used, so not a brilliant prospect for me. I need to go krayt hunting lol.
It's generally better not to put a stock on any weapon you plan on spamming specials with. A good stock may add anywhere from 30-40 points of damage, but it's going to add about 30 points to EACH ham cost while slowing your weapon down by anywhere from .4 to .6.
Non adavanced scopes are better, ask the weaponsmith if s/he experiments them down to 1 HAM. (even at 0, they'll still add 1 to each HAM cost.) You can get an extra 12 points to range with these as well as a noticable wound chance increase, where as the benifit vs penalty ratio on advanced scopes isn't really worth making them.
In general, weaponsmiths would rather not mess with your resources. It complicates things. Weaponsmiths need over 30 NAMED resouces (not just steel or iron) to make the 65 or so different weapons. Any smith that's been around long enough to be worth buying from has already jumped on all the good spawns you can. Each component needs different resouces, and different stats matter in different ways for each part.
'Average' krayt tissues are +30 max damage and -.3 to speed, and you'll pay waaaaaaaay to much for it. I still have a list here somewhere of how many tissues are needed for each weapon. I can try to dig it out later if anyone would like it.
In PvP, it's going to depend a lot on if your opponents are armored or not. An E11 will lose 50% of it's damage against armor before resists are applied.
