Thread: Damage caps on mkII with PUP (and something about speed cap)

Hi, I'm a bit confused about these different damage caps. If I remember right 1063max dmg was cap when crafting. Is damage cap lower with slicing or can you slice over the crafted damage cap? What about with pup?

If I put a dmg pup on my mkII max dmg goes from 999 to 1145. If I slice it for dmg (999*1.08=1078) and then put a PUP on it. What happens? Does the damage go way over 1200 or is there a cap before it?

What about speed then? There is some talk that if you get your modded speed under 1.5 then you can fire every 2 secs (mine is about 1.9 and firing specials every 3 secs). But if I slice my mkII for speed I get my modded speed under 1.5 which means that I propably can shoot faster and do more damage that way than getting an expensive damage slice.

Btw, my SAC is 73 if it that matters to your opinions. Thanks for the answers!

The cap for the slice is 1046. You cannot slice higher then that on a mark II

I should start working, but... found this from smuggler boards: " I have sliced two markII's (same damage cap as elite right?) and both capped at 1046." So the slice cap is 1046 for mkII then... I would get 1038 with 4% dmg slice, I guess the rest goes in speed then...

What about the damage cap with PUP? Any thoughts about that?

But slicing for 4% damage and 4% speed doesnt give me that big advantage over the 12% speed slice if it helps me to use leg shot/rapid fire every 2 secs instead of 3 secs.

i have a sac and damage capped (crafted) mk2e11 which i then sliced 12% speed.


then i use a rather nice pup which i had custom made with some of the best copper on our server (cost around 25cpu) and i am yet to find a cap for puped damage....it just adds a percentage to the max. if i opt for a sac pup i can get it down to 51 with a nice pup. i prefer the damage ones tho and i alternate between ranged shot and aimed shot. which although they do less damage than other specials they use a LOT less action and over a similar period of time they will do a comparable amount of damage than other more powerful specials due to the faster cool downs. quickdraw is also useful for this. if i need to finish something off fast then i can throw in a legshot/criticalshot combo and waste my action out.

in pve tho rangedshot/aimedshot/quickdraw cant be bettered in my opinion, as long as you keep a root/snare or kd handy and then wear down your target. for pvp you will prob want to switch to the sac pup and throw more damageing specials to take out your target faster

According to your combat logs, do you fire every 2 sec or faster or what? Your modded speed is under 1.5? Need to test ranged shot/aimed shot myself today...

Usually in PvE (krayts) I have used dmg pups and leg shot/rapid fire. When my action runs out I change to ranged shot/leg shot until the action is almost full again... once in a while KD and snare and CM specials.
